"We met with Dan from 4MS who introduced us to two new low-cost modules, Looping Delay and Sampler. Sampler is a sample playback and recording device with a simple interface. Users can change the pitch, length, and start position of samples, making it possible to create granular-type patches. The device can play backwards and record from stereo input to stereo output. The device includes an SD card with a few hundred samples, and users can create up to ten sample banks. The device also has a CV for bank trigger sample, end out reverse, and pitch knob.

Looping Delay which would pair well with Sampler can create echo, delay, and reverb effects with up to 900ms of delay time. Looping Delay can be used with an expression pedal for real-time control of feedback and delay time. The device also includes a bypass footswitch and a CV for delay time. The looping delay and sampler can be used together to create unique soundscapes and effects. The Looping Delay and Sampler are the first two modules in 4MS' new low-cost module line and are designed to be easy to build.

NAMM 2023 Rhodes V8 Pro - Official Laser guided sample Instrument

"We spoke to Dan from Rhodes, who introduced the V8 Pro, the first official Rhodes software that encompasses a deeply sampled and modeled Mark 8. The V8 Pro engine is running 30,000 samples with up to 127 laser guided velocities per note, resulting in an unprecedented depth. The UI has been designed by Axel Hartman and the front panel is a blown-up version of the Walnut Market.
Rhodes has gone to great lengths to create super-authentic software that feels like a real instrument. The V8 Pro also includes a V8, a lower-priced model with a more limited feature set.

The V8 Pro has modeled analog effects from the Mark 8, including a resonant mid-range EQ and a unique varipan circuit that stands for variable panning, giving you all the classic panning sounds, just like the Mark 8. The V8 Pro also has different wave shapes for the panning to achieve different feels.
Rhodes has added sync buttons for all the time-based effects, so you can sync to your DAW's internal tempo or incoming midi clock. "At NAMM 2023, Sonic State caught up with Dave Rossum, the founder of Sound Semiconductor, to discuss the company's exciting developments. Sound Semiconductor is a development from SSM, a company that designed synthesizer chips for the first Prophets in the early 1970s. SSM went on to produce chips for professional audio and was later acquired by Analog Devices. In 2016, Rossum, along with Marco Alpert and a little bit of seed capital from Universal Audio, started Rossum Electro Music. At NAMM, they met Dan Parks, who used to run SSM, and talked about the idea of resurrecting the classic SSM chips. Six months later, they started Sound Semiconductor, which includes some resurrections of the classic SSM chips and some new ideas.

Rossum explained that the analog chips give instruments their own unique character, which digital processing cannot achieve. Analog chips have variations from unit to unit, and the designer's job is to make those variations as small as possible while allowing those variations to give instruments their own individual character. Analog distortions are also natural, making them more appealing to the ears than digital algorithms that give aliasing, and Dave told us he finds designing analog chips to be more artistic and enjoyable than designing digital ones.

Moog ONE vs Arturia PolyBrute // The Definitive Comparison

I say definitive.. there's another on the way!!

A look at the Moog One and the Arturia PolyBrute together. They're both superbly flexible VCO polysynths with dual analog filters per voice - a ladder filter and a state variable.

The Moog ONE here has 16 voices and the PolyBrute has 6, so there are differences in what you can do when stacking voices plus lots of other differences. BUT... the Mog One really did remind me of my PolyBrute when I first tried it in @Dan Stirling studio.

And they're both capable of some simply stunning sounds.

Other main differences are:
3 oscillators per voice vs 2
Eventide Effects on the Moog
Effects are Mod destinations on the Arturia
Eventide Has CV connectivity
Arturia can morph between tones.

... so lots of differences but enough similarities I thought to put them together.

Minimoog vs Moog One // BASS

"Can the Moog One do bass? I've heard a lot of stuff here and there with people claiming its not up to scratch or doesn't have the full body for big basses...so I deduced to out it up against the King of Bass. Its not a minimoog but does a close approximation. Of course there are differences in all over the place. So it's different, but I wouldn't say it can't play bass.
