SynthPlex 2022 - Embodme Erae Multi-touch controller

video upload by sonicstate

"The Erae Touch from Embodme has slipped under our radar somewhat, as we've not seen it in the flesh before. We had a look at the unit at Synthplex and saw that there are some pretty cool features, using the large backlit control surface for some nifty interface chops. They've also managed to get the response time right down that makes it possible to trigger the completely configurable playing surface with sticks.

It puts us in mind of the Jazz Mutant Lemur crossed with the Roli blocks. Its fully MPE compatible and has an editor enabling user configurations aplenty.

Its in production and can be found at https://www.embodme.com/erae-product-... for order (3 weeks lead time). Price €700"

Modor NF-1, MonoLogue, Nord Lead 2, Xils StiX Test with iPad

Published on Feb 24, 2019 BoBSwanS

"So I have had this iPad 2 days now and here is my 1st test of Midi Out and Ableton Link using Audiobus to route Fugue Machine and Xynthesizr to my synths.

3 playheads from Fugue Machine to my Modor NF1-M
and one to the Monologue.
Xynthesizr is playing some chords into my Nord Lead 2 and I have SpaceCraft Granular playing back some whistling I recorded in with the iPad Mic.
Each of the hardware synths has it's own audio track in Ableton with some delay and reverb and I have a compressor on the master.
I am also using a Lemur editor to control the Modor NF1-m
Drums are supplied by Xils StiX
and It's all synced with Ableton Link over Wifi."

Bongo Peak

Published on Jan 31, 2019 verstaerker

"i created some bongo-esque sound using the Novation Peak only ... no external Effekts have been used
sequenced from an Doepfer MAQ16/3 - i'm using a Lemur App to control the Gates on the MAQ (as it lacks hardware buttons for that)"

---

Novation Peak covering Buchla bongos. If you go back far enough, there was a bongo meme where the majority of new Buchla 200e videos were essentially bongo sounds. People wondering why anyone would spend ~$20k to just to make bongo tracks. :)

SKYPAD Multitouch iOS & Android Controller for ORBIT and ECLIPSE

Uploaded on Oct 11, 2018 Wide Blue Sound

"Wide Blue Sound spreads ORBIT and ECLIPSE wings with SKYPAD controller alongside APEX and AETERNA expansions

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA: musical synth designers Wide Blue Sound is proud to announce availability of its SKYPAD controller app alongside APEX and AETERNA — the first official expansion packs for its award-winning ORBIT and ECLIPSE flagship software synthesizers — as of October 15…

SKYPAD is a boundary-pushing remote and creative automation tool that runs on any iOS or Android tablet with Liine’s Lemur (MIDI/OSC controller) app installed. It adds hands-on control of every parameter in ORBIT and ECLIPSE, and, more importantly, adds many brand-new features to Wide Blue Sound’s software synthesizer flagships.

Firstly, SKYPAD’s Generator builds upon ORBIT and ECLIPSE’s Intelligent Randomize feature to create new patches based on musical and emotional keywords. It is the fastest way to make custom presets that simply sound fantastic!

Furthermore, the Multiball page controls any parameters in the entire synth with a fun physics-based interface. Here SKYPAD users can quickly move objects around the screen with multi-touch, then record the result in their DAW (Digital Audio Workstation)!

The Spatial Mixer is an intuitive 3D space mixer. Here users can place each of the synth’s four sound sources in virtual space with their fingers or enable the Earth Gravity mode by moving the tablet itself. Indeed, this creative tool uses a hand-crafted combination of panning, filters, reverb, and delay to create a sense of distance and depth.

SKYPAD’s FX XY macro pads combine ORBIT and ECLIPSE’s essential effects parameters together. This time users can quickly shape sounds using simple gestures, generating dramatic sweeping motions between different distortions, spaces, and more.

Maintains Wide Blue Sound founder Nathan Rightmour: “The Wide Blue Sound team is really excited to release SKYPAD. We’ve dropped the keyboard and mouse completely here at WBS HQ, and now only use SKYPAD to interact with ORBIT and ECLIPSE. It’s so much more than a remote; for us, it’s been a new way to connect with sound and music.”

Meanwhile, Wide Blue Sound has also released the APEX and AETERNA expansion packs for ORBIT and ECLIPSE, respectively. Created by one of the industry’s most revered sound designers, they represent the latest trends in electronic and cinematic music.

SKYPAD now comes included with every purchase of ORBIT and ECLIPSE — priced at $199.00 USD and $149.00 USD, respectively, and available directly from Wide Blue Sound (https://widebluesound.com)."

The Art of MIDI Hacking: Extend your gear (converting Analog Four to a "Paraphonic A8")

Published on Dec 22, 2017 loopop

"As you may have seen previously on my channel, I've used 'MIDI hacking' - real time MIDI manipulation - to extend the functionality of quite a few musical instruments. Playing melodies with samples on the Novation Circuit, turning the Korg Electribe 2 into a 3 oscillator synth, adding CC to CV functionality to the Arturia BeatStep Pro - all of those things cannot be done out of the box with those devices.

I've demonstrated these solutions but never really explained how you can create them yourself because the scripting language I used (Lemur) is quite complex and out of the reach of many people, and requires a phone to work, which is an inconvenience.

Then I came across the Bome Box and MIDI Translator Pro, which are much easier to program, so I thought I'd not just put together another "MIDI hack" but also explain what's going on behind the scenes.

This time I decided to see if I could extend the capabilities of Elektron's Analog Four. The A4 is an amazing synth with four analog voices which can either play different sounds each, play one sound with up to 4 voices polyphonically, or any combination in between.

However, with this "MIDI hack" it can do more.

Each of the A4's voices has 2 oscillators. Out of the box, you can't configure these voices to be played separately with the internal keys or an external keyboard. You can manually step sequence each of the oscillators using parameter locking, but that precludes real time play and is hard to do using a tuning knob.

That's where this short 3 line script saves the day. With it, you can play each of the 4 voices of the A4 paraphonically with a simple keyboard split on an external MIDI keyboard.

Playing paraphonically has a different character than playing two separate notes. Both notes share the same envelope, filter and fx, which is a limitation, but actually gives the music created a unique feel, similar to what can be done on the Moog Sub 37.

With this short script you can potentially turn your A4 to a "paraphonic A8", by applying this script to all 4 voices.

This should work on the Analog Keys as well, but you would need an external keyboard for that.

Enjoy!"

Rheyne - Sequenced Jam #39 (Ableton and Eurorack)

Published on Jun 14, 2017 Rheyne

"Ableton MIDI loops are sync'd to Moog Mother-32 sequencers via Expert Sleepers Silent Way and an ES-8 to a Make Noise Tempi, where Ableton's clock is multiplied and divided to various parts of the rack. The Moog DFAM is connected to a Strymon BigSky, and all other sound sources are running through Ableton's reverb and delay via the ES-8 inputs, which is also triggering the lighting. I'm controlling the colors of the lights and state changes on the Tempi with Lemur on my phone, taped to the top of the camera."

Rheyne - Sequenced Jam #34 - "DFAM Jam" (Moog Drummer From Another Mother)

Published on May 27, 2017 Rheyne

"First video with the Moog "Drummer From Another Mother (DFAM)" from Moogfest 2017. I assembled the module in the Engineer Workshop, led by Steve Dunnington who designed it. All notes are triggered by the Moog and Make Noise hardware in the rack.

The DFAM is solo'd at the beginning and end of the video from a state change on the Make Noise Tempi, which I controlled using Lemur on my phone which was taped to the camera. This was sent as a MIDI message from Lemur to an iConnectMIDI 4, and then to one of the Mother-32 modules where it was converted to CV, which was sent to the Tempi's state change CV input.

The module has much more versatility than what's heard and displayed here. More coming soon."

Roland MKS-80 Super Jupiter Rev.4, Alesis IO Dock II-iPad

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Roland MKS-80 Super Jupiter Analog Synth, Alesis IO Dock II, and iPad.
*Please note that my photos show a lot of reflections on the shiny surfaces of the Alesis IO Dock and the iPad. If you look at the various pictures you will see that those are not scratches and are actually reflections of my record collection and the overhead lighting.

My MKS-80 is in great condition and sounds big and beautiful. It does have some light scratches and some rack marks, but nothing major. The MKS-80 Super Jupiter is a classic analog 8 voice polyphonic synth and is capable of making anything from wall shaking bass to beautiful sweet pads.

I am also including my Alesis IO Dock II and my iPad (3rd Gen with WiFi and Cellular conectivity).
I have the Lemur MKS-80 editor installed on the iPad (as seen in my photos). It allows you to easily edit your MKS-80 patches in realtime. With this setup you can sequence the MKS-80 using iPad sequencers or connect it to your computer via USB and sequence it with your DAW. This setup is really nice. I included a photo with some text overlay showing how to setup the DAW connectivity. It's pretty easy.

You will also receive a M-64C Memory Cartridge, the original manual for the MKS-80 and the manual for the Alesis IO Dock II.

This gear has been kept in my smoke free home studio, so it will arrive smelling clean."

Rheyne - Live Jam #171

Published on Apr 18, 2017 Rheyne

"Live looping with all sounds from Moog and Make Noise synths and modules. Each synth voice is played on a NI KompleteKontrol 49 keyboard, with presets stored on different MIDI channels for separate control of each voice.

The hi-hats are created by muting and un-muting a clock signal from a Make Noise Tempi, set to a 10ms duty cycle and fed to the VCA input of a Dave Smith DSM01 filter, which is receiving noise from one of the Moog Mother-32 modules. The S+H effect on the filter is from another clock signal on the Tempi sent to a Make Noise Wogglebug, with its random voltage output sent to the DSM01 VCF input. The Tempi is kept in sync with Ableton from one of the outs on an Expert Sleepers ES-8 and a clock signal from Silent Way.

MIDI loops are recorded in Ableton with a Novation Launchpad, and Lemur is running on an iPad as an Ableton remote. All effects are from Ableton. Audio was recorded with the ES-8 and a PreSonus 1818VSL, with the final output recorded to the balanced inputs of a Tascam DR-44 from the mixer."
