Circuit Bent Casio MT-240 MIDI Keyboard with Patch Points

Note this one is not finished.

"The Casio MT-240 part works great like a normal MT-240, then I added a bent glitch effects patch bay and shortened the scale to 5 keys. ONLY the 5 lowest keys play, the others are wired up but go to nothing. The keys are not the most responsive, but if you use the MIDI IN you can add any MIDI controller and have full keyboard use. The MIDI OUT is great for making random glitched out patterns while you use the patch bay. Added 1/4" MONO Output (lots of the glitches are in stereo, use the 1/8" output for that. AC Adapter is included, batteries can not be used on this anymore. Quick Reset switch has been added in the upper left area (little black button). I never got around to finishing this project, the lid could be better, but everything else is secure and in place... I hope a circuit bender or someone who wants to learn circuit bending can finish this project."

"This has four independent oscillators each with there own on/off switch, pitch knob, and optical pitch control which also has its own on/off switch. It also has a volume knob, 1/4" output, master on/off switch, and an on/off switch for the lights. It is powered by a 9 volt battery (not included). The colored pegs can be stored in the bottom (where the battery used to be). Not every spot can have a colored peg, some parts are underneath some spots."

Regarding the stand: "This unit was primarily designed as an organ top box and a very good one it is. To an organist it would give you plenty flexibilty with volume faders for each group of sounds and a clever chrome touch bar on the top left that starts and stops the rhythms (like it uses some static in your finger or something?). There is an UpTempo switch, 2 beat, 4 beat and a fade out button plus you can hold down multiple rhythm's to layer them!"

Buchla: DIY 158, Delay & Joystick

Published on Nov 21, 2012 by djangosfire
"Breaking in a new DIY Buchla format "Retro 158" dual oscillator that I just made. Also testing a one-off Buchla format Joystick I'm building.

The delay is a Modcan 59a Digital Delay, re-faced with a custom Buchla style panel that I created the artwork for.

I'm using the Joystick module to alter pitch and audio attenuation - as well as pulsing the delay for a sync.

These make up a KILLER sci-fi efx box :)"

Ninstrument Synthboy+ Now Available

Ninstrument wrote in to let us know that the Synthboy+ Kickstarter project posted here back in June was a success!

"We opened the webstore to the public today. We only have a few items available, so I thought I would let the die hard fans at matrixsynth know first. Here is the link. Every penny in profit goes right back into product development. Attached pics are of the very rare and hard to find White Gameboy. We made a very special Synthboy+ (We call it the Unicorn) to mark the occasion.

Thank you for all of your support."

Brian Biggs' Eurorack Modular

via wire to the ear where you'll find the full write-up.

"Brian is a Children’s Book Illustrator, has a very large Pitbull/Greyhound dog named Cyrus and has a nice Eurorack Modular system. I’ve been thinking about which “sampler” module to get. I was looking at the ADDAC Systems Wav player, Make Noise Phonogene or The Harvestman Tyme Sefari. I noticed Brian had both a Tyme Sefari 2 and Phonogene so I basically asked him if he was interested in some show and tell. I wasn’t expecting a proper invite but that’s what I got! As you can see by the photos Brian has a pretty nice set up..."

Custom Union Jack Korg M1

via this auction

"For sale is an absolutely pristine custom Korg M1 which is a unique and stunning example of the famous keyboard.
This is a keyboard that I have customised to produce something would stand out on any stage or studio, if you are looking for something special for your band or would purely like something individual then this M1 could be what you are looking for.
The keyboard comes with a printed manual, reference mat, flight case, power cable, a cd containing thousands of extra sounds which I have collected and created over the years, an instruction video to help you with the more advanced sections of the keyboard and a printed start up guide.

I have restored many Korg M1 keyboards and take great pride in returning these keyboards to the best possible condition that the keyboard can be. The keyboard has taken many hours to return it to almost new condition and has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out to remove all dust grim that builds up under the keys and in the audio jacks etc. Even keyboards that have only had home use suffer from a build up of dust inside the keys so you can be assured that this is as clean as it gets.

I have fitted a new internal battery which generally needs replacing every 5 years, fitted a completely new set of micro switches and buttons which tend to wear out over time, installed a new joystick, tested the audio outputs and greased the keys so this keyboard is back to it's best! I have also added the original demo songs into the sequencer which gives you a good idea of what this keyboard is able to do.
If you would like to hear what the M1 can do I have added a recording of the demo songs to my website which you can view here."

"This was Roland's first synth (and indeed first instrument); it was introduced in 1973. Discrete components and one of the warmest and fattest filters - many compare it to a Moog - make for a great synth that hides its capabilities well beneath its home-organ lookalike exterior. From fat and funky wobbly basslines to squelchy soaring leads via prog-rock floatiness, this synth effortlessly delivers some stunning sounds - as well as a multitude of 'authentic' recreations of acoustic instruments in preset form - and is a joy to play - quality pots and sliders shame today's penny-pinching manufacturing..."

Moog Music, Inc. in the 1970s

"Moog Music, Inc. in its Cheektowaga, NY location (just outside Buffalo), where it was located from 1975 to about 1985. The company shut down after that, and re-emerged in 2002, after Bob won a legal battle to use the Moog name. Any former Moog Music (Buffalo) employees out there? We'd love to hear your memories."

Impact - 64 Impaktor Presets from Sunsine Audio

Published on Nov 21, 2012 by sunsineaudio

http://www.sunsineaudio.com

"Sunsine Audio is back with Impact, a set of 64 new presets for Impaktor, the acclaimed five star drum app from Beepstreet, developer of the venerable Sunrizer. This pack makes full use of every aspect of both synthesis engines. Physical Modeling is explored through the "Membrane" and "Resonator" sections, Noise Shaping through the "Noise + Vocoder" section, and Frequency Modulation though the FM synthesizer section. Many of the presets contain a combination of these techniques interacting and combining in various ways, including some "tuned" presets that allow playing discreet pitches in a scale depending on the frequency of the impulse. In this manner some presets allow a melody to be played in the style or spirit of a talking drum or steel drum.

The sounds in this set range from classic "ethnic" sound types such as clay or frame, steel, or talking drums, to more traditional electronic sounding drums, and finally futuristic style percussion and drum sounds which may be defined as industrial, alien, or hybrid instruments.

*Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later.*

Format:
• 64 Presets (1 .imkit file)
• Easy installation instructions.

MF-104M / MF-104Z / BD101 Experiment

Published on Nov 21, 2012 by Eric Beam

http://rhythminmind.net/1313/?p=4429

"I've recently added a Moog MF-104M & MF-104Z to the arsenal. I didn't originally plan on keeping both, but they ended up being very different beasts. The 104M has fuller bandwidth, smoother sound, & modulation. Not to say that you can't drive the hell out of it, It's covers a lot of sonic territory. The 104Z has a grit & chaotic feedback loop that I love. I pulled out the D-Scope & analysed the two. You can see the frequency response & THD+N of the dry signal & the BBD Short/Long delay modes in the images below."
