Tuning a VCO with a Scalable VC Input - Patch of The Week

"You don't need 1v/oct inputs if you know how to set the range of a scalable VC input. Tracking additional VCOs is just as easy too.
Though this is illustrated on a Serge the concepts apply to many modular synthesizers. Let me know how you apply this on your modular synthesizer.

"This Paia-2720 keyboard synthesizer is quite an interesting vintage synth. The 2700 series patchable capability makes it more flexible than many other synths from the seventies. You can use this as a stand alone synth for spacey sound effects, experiments and groovy (though simple) analogue sounds or use its modules together with your other patchable gear to get some more power and variety! You can even use it as an effects processor and route external sounds through it. It's got its own unique sound no other synth manufacturer has captured. Here are its features (modules appear in bold):

"The SH-2 is one of Rolands' early synthesizers. It is very simple in design, look and function. It sounds much like the SH-101 synth, including the typical SH-style sub-oscillator. But the SH-2 employed 2 oscillators for a much fatter sound. It has the typical Roland SH sound - it's a monophonic bass synth that's flexible enough to provoke punchy analog basses, leads and squelchy sounds. The oscillators can be de-tuned as well, another feature the popular SH-101 lacks."

"This is a later model with the membrane keyboard, not the J-wire. The keyboard is only partially working, only 23 keys are triggering. It's also missing one rubber foot on the bottom (can be found at a hardware store for cheap). Otherwise it's in excellent shape & fully functional. All knobs & switches work & are scratch free. Sounds awesome like a Pro One should!"

"Slow version of the SLOTH CHAOS circuit. This one takes 15-16 minutes to complete a cycle. If you adjust the pot it can take up to 30 minutes to an hour for any change to occur in the pattern. A very suitable module for all day listening."
