Access Virus C vs DSP56300Emu

video upload by Avrilcadabra

"I wanted to test this for myself since I couldn't find any comparison. The volumes are not exact. I am not a scientist. youtubes compression probably made it worse.

the point is they are pretty much the same. the virus control panel is even mapped correctly by default except the softknobs dont change the vst.

the vst also seems unable to load banks correctly (only loads 16 presets from a bank) so I am showing some stock presets here. Maybe I will say which was which a bit later."

See the DSP56300 label below for more.

E-RM Went Out of Business on December 31st 2022 - Continues Support Through 2023

Screenshot of the E-RM home page.

Note "THIS WAS E-RM. HAVE FUN 🙂" on the top right. It will lead you to the following:

via E-RM

Everything will eventually come to an end. After 10 years it is time for E-RM.

But closing a company is a process. And of course our products live on. Thousands of you are entrusting them every day in professional studio life and personal music making for good reason.

For you, we continue to provide support throughout 2023 on the E-RM website. You can reach us at www.e-rm.de/contact. Repairs and spare parts are also taken care of, just get in touch with your dealer or us directly if you are in need.

Please find our official statement below.

Dear Reader,

We will close business on December 31st 2022 after 10 years of operation.

We would like to thank everyone who worked with us and supported the company: our customers and partners for the creative output, trust and belief in our vision, our dealers and distributors for making our products available all around the world and our suppliers for sharing their valuable experience at all times.

We hope that we have made your life easier and more inspired, like you made it for us. We learned a lot from all of you.

We are closing, but we are not gone. Maybe some product will pop up reborn somewhere else – or new stuff will come up. For sure, the ending of E-RM opens a space to start new endeavors.

Have fun!

An Update on Buchla & Tiptop Audio Including New Modules in the Works

via Tiptop Audio

"Hi everyone, 2023 is going to be interesting, we have plenty of things going on, so here is the mega update:

The 200t project moves forward full steam and we want to thank you for your support in 2022. We look forward to announcing later this year more of Don’s Buchla 200 series modules that are currently in development.

Up first is a new batch of 258t, 245t, 257t and 281t. These are going through final assembly steps and we expect to start shipping them to the shops very soon. We will start with the 258t, 245t and 257t this week, followed by the 281t toward mid/late March. As always, we are letting the shops know the quantity they will be getting so they can open up for additional pre-orders.

The electronic parts shortages haven’t eased yet and we are still experiencing limited supplies. Some of you folks have waited a long time for your order and these coming batches should be able to cover a good number of the back orders placed with the shops.

Haken Continuum/EaganMatrix - Building a Simple Organ Preset

video upload by EaganMatrix Programming

"Here's a simple method for creating an organ preset used in a number of Continuum and Osmose organ system presets. This preset can run on both. The idea is to use the 5 oscillators as configurable stops you can set to partials 1 to 8 (you can set more if you like) and then use a Z formula on SL/SR to adjust max attenuation of that component. One Oscillator is used to bring in subharmonics which adds lower octaves increasing the size of the sound.
Short video so you can pause if the text balloons describing the construction go by to fast (no talking - just example of sound playing in the background that is set to a fixed configuration - on for playing main organ part on Slim Continuum and the other set for a different setting for the orchestra reduction with a bit of license).
The preset is available here if you are interested: https://patchstorage.com/simply-organ..."

Sequential Prophet 6 - Divinity Vol.1 - Custom Patches 050 to 099

"This is the second of two demo Reels showcasing the last 50 Sounds from Divinity Volume.1

As always I aim to create great playable sounds easily translatable to your own Productions or for Live use. I have created basses, arps, leads, pads and my usual styled analog keys too.

The Prophet 6 deserves the commonly stated "the best synth sequential have ever made" it is truly a lovely synth, full of warmth and character. The Poly Mod section really brings the synth alive along with great oscillators, and filters.

Mystics Vol 1 - DSI Prophet 08/REV 2 - Patches 17 to 32 (Dry + FX Presets)

video upload by GEOSynths

"Mystics Vol 1 contain 64 New Patches for the venerable DSI Prophet 08. I used to have one years ago and sold it, but had the opportunity recently to pick one up on Ebay, not to make Patches, just...'cause! Even though I have a Prophet Rev 2 and have made 2 Banks for it, there was something about the Prophet 08 that got me hooked on making new Sounds for it....Here they are....Mystics Vol 1.

Of course, there are no FX onboard, however I have previously use 2 Free Plug-Ins (below) and have made 64 FX Presets for each to match up with each Patch. I have also demonstrated the Patches both Dry and with the FX.

1 - Blue Cat Audio Chorus - https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products...
2. Valhalla Supermassive - https://valhalladsp.com/shop/reverb/v...

All you need to do is set up an Insert in your DAW, add the chorus in Slot 1 and in Slot 2, Supermassive. Then just match up the Preset Numbers/Names...That's it, levels are all done!

They are made using IR3109 and BA662 chips for authenticity.
Headphones or good monitors recommended.

via G-Storm Electron on Reverb

JU60-VCF is an analog 4-pole low pass filter adaptation of Roland Juno-6/60 using a vintage IR3109 chip with a BA662 OTA chip in the resonance feedback loop. This topology was also used on the Jupiter-8, with a switch for tapping the 2-pole mode. Resonance will self-oscillate and produces a nice sine wave alone. JU60-VCF won’t turn your system into a polyphonic synth, but it has a classic sound at a sweet price.

FREQUENCY | the initial Cutoff Frequency of the filter

RESONANCE | the depth of the peak frequency resonant feedback

IN1 & IN2 | Mix together 2 different audio signals, each w/ their own mix pot.

CV1 & CV2 | Modulate the Cutoff Frequency w/ any polar/bi-polar mod source.

MODE | Select between lowpass 2-pole or 4-pole operation.

OUT | the audio output jack of the filter

Includes a 10-pin to 16-pin Eurorack ribbon connector

25 mA on -12V

This module has the modern 3109 filter chip. The older 3109 chip is found in the vintage Roland keyboards like SH-101.

What I did is add resonance audio drop out compensation and precision resistors for the exponential converter. The module

will easily track 5+ octaves when in full self oscillation. Band pass was also added as a bonus. The band pass steals the

show, as many have not heard an sh101 with band pass.

-24db low pass

-18db band pass

-Internal VCA for easy voice building

-FM Bi Polar CV input for the Filter

-Envelope Input for the VCA

-Dual Audio Inputs, one direct, and the other with over drive.

Arturia Jun-6 V | 80s synth workhorse in VST form

video upload by Mamotreco

"The Arturia Jun-6V VST synth is modelled after the much beloved Roland Juno-6. It's straight-to-the-point synthesizer architecture and satisfying 80s polysynth goodness made the hardware original a studio workhorse across genres.
#arturia #jun-6v #juno6
And all that is before we get to its lush and quintessential chorus effect implementation. The Arturia Jun-6 V synth plugin has both some of the original presets from the hardware analog synthesizer as well as brand new sounds to round out its sound library. In this video, I play some of the sounds that struck a chord for me.

Electrocomp EML Model 101 SN 212

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Rare and professionally maintained Electrocomp Synthesizer Patch Cable Electric Piano Model 101. This particular EML101 was owned by a famous jazz musician/ music theorist/ author and used on tour to some degree. It was professionally serviced throughout the time of his ownership before he died. It was likely used on several famous jazz LPs, as well.

The EML 101 is a duophonic semi-modular synthesizer with 4 (!) VCOs and a continuously variable multimode filter (lowpass – bandpass – highpass). It has normalled connections which can be modified by patch leads, similar to an ARP-2600. The instrument’s sounds is superb, it has a wonderful character of its own.

According to Peter Forrest, this instrument was EML’s most successful product – about 1000 'Model 101' were made … THIS IS MARKED 212, WHICH IS EARLY IN PRODUCTION."

Another wrong path | Roland System 8 JX3P Plug-out ambient pads

video upload by MIDERA

"Why is it another wrong path? Well, I obviously have too much stuff. Every time I think 'I should sell XYZ...' I play it and really enjoy it. I bet I've written this a couple of times elsewhere. I've thought about selling the System 8. It just doesn't feel or look very nice and I have other instruments that do similar sounds better. Then I sit down and just play it and it has its own thing going on. So much that I can't say I'm even bothered by the green lights when I'm playing it. I forget about how ugly it is and just have fun.

So I'm left thinking... I can't sell any of it. If only I had a solution I liked for storing a lot of these synths. I rearranged my whole studio in hopes that I could set things up nicer. That was a failure.

No added FX except internal from the System 8.
