J3PO OBERHEIM OB-X8 Presets: Future Vintage OFFICIAL SOUNDS DEMO

video upload by J3PO

"In this video, Julian demos the 64 presets included in the "J3PO OB-X8 Presets: Future Vintage" for the Oberheim OB-X8.

You can buy these patches for your OB-X8 from https://www.julianpollack.com/shop/j3...

This demo was recorded dry straight to Pro Tools, with no external FX, save for some light compression and leveling for the purposing of uploading to YouTube. What you hear is what you get! Of course, users are encouraged to add their own FX, such as chorus, reverb, delay etc. to the sounds. Please see my upcoming video '20 minutes of beautiful OB-X8 & Strymon soundscapes' to hear some of these sounds in context.

There are 64 patches in this preset library and they will load to patches 'OB-X: Groups 8-16' on the OB-X8. The introductory sale price is $39 (normally $45).

The library covers a lot of sonic ground, ranging from ultra vintage Oberheim sounds to tones that fit right into contemporary production. The Oberheim palette is the sound that originally got me into synthesizers (the OB-Xa) and it’s such a joy to have a re-issue of one of the world’s most beloved synthesizers. I hope you enjoy these sounds as much as I enjoyed creating them!

I also have patches available for the Prophet 6, Prophet 5/10, Prophet Rev 2, OB-6, Spectrasonic's Omnisphere, Arturia OP-Xa, Softube's Model 72 & 84, XLN's Addictive Keys Mark One and a free bank of 50 sounds for the free VST synth 'OB-Xd' — all available on my website. If you're a Nord Stage 3 or Wave 2 user, download my bank from the Nord Keyboards website."

Bob Moog Foundation Executive Director Speaks on the Sale of Moog Music to inMusic

video upload by moogfoundation

See the announcement here.

"June 13, 2023 marks a new chapter for the iconic company Bob Moog founded in 1954, as Moog Music shares that it has been acquired by inMusic.

Through Bob Moog, we share a common lineage with Moog Music. As Moog Music begins its new journey, we remind our community that the Bob Moog Foundation is and always has always been a separate, independent entity with separate goals and separate leadership.

The funding that empowers our work comes from our community. Our work is not sales and manufacturing, but inspiring people from all walks of life with Bob’s legacy, and carrying it forward to future generations.

In the spirit of our shared connection with Dr. Robert Moog, we hope this transition represents fresh new inspiration in the spirit of Bob's legacy."

You might notice this delay has a VCO. More on that further below. "Rare Lexicon Prime Time 93 digital delay with maxed out memory, in fully functioning and perfect working condition. The front panel is immaculate. It is likely one of the cleanest Lexicon 93's in the world."

This one was sent to: "Dane Beamish of Beamish Electronics for repair, who is well known in the industry as the main tech who works on Lexicon gear. He wasn't cheap, but he went over it in great detail, and replaced all of the tantalum and electrolytic caps, a new timing crystal, several op-amps, and installed 24 new RAM chips. He also fully calibrated it. He recommended paying additional for the more expensive higher quality Texas Instrument RAM chips since (in his experience) they rarely go bad, so I decided to go with his recommendation, despite the much higher cost. He told me it was the cleanest Lexicon Prime Time 93 he had ever seen. He believes it may have left the factory this way, and sat on a shelf as a test unit, or may have left the the factory by other means. You can read his write up in the attached invoice."

Regarding the VCO, via musicfrombigego.com:

"Lastly, there seems to be some confusion online about the Prime Time 93’s VCO. I heard it referred to as an LFO in one video and that didn’t sound right to me. I contacted Gary Hall, creator of the Lexicon PCM42 digital delay, who worked for Lexicon at the time the Prime Time 93 was in production. Here’s what Gary had to say:

'Actually, the Prime Time has both an LFO and a VCO. Internally, the digital circuits are all run by a clock at ultrasonic rates. In the fixed delay mode, the clock is a crystal oscillator. When you click the knob to ‘UnCal’, the clock is taken over by a Voltage-Controlled Oscillator running at similar high speed which you can change with the manual sweep or with the LFO. The clock oscillator itself is a true VCO, however it’s not in audible range (I don’t have numbers in front of me, but it’s dog-whistle territory). It’s also linear-response only. No effort was made to have it conform to synth specs. So, VCO modulated by LFO and/or manual offset.'"

PPG Wave 2.2

"This one has gotten the full Synthropology™️ treatment meaning that we dig into our 20+ years of archives and experience working on the PPGs. We attend to everything that we have come across as weak points in all the PPGs that ever came across our path.

We truly strive for PPG excellence!

The PPGs have a certain reputation for being unreliable. Even though they do have quirks, (we prefer to call it character) there are many things that can done to make them MUCH more reliable and hence enjoyable.

Highlights of upgrades includes (but not limited to):

* Brand new VFD display
* Extensive power supply rebuilt and upgrade
* Cleaned keybed and and new keybed bushings
* Extensive testing before delivery
* v8 Operating System"

Moog Prodigy 336A SN 7113 w/ Sequential Style Knobs

via this auction

"Moog Prodigy model 336A monophonic synthesizer in good working condition. Produced by Moog from 1979 to 1984 and only 11,000 were made.
The synthesize features a dual voltage-controlled oscillator design to deliver classic analog sounds with easy-to-use controls. Oscillator 1 has sawtooth, triangle and pulse waveforms. Oscillator 2 has sawtooth, triangle and square waveforms. The waveforms can be detuned and the oscillators can be synchronized. In sync mode, the pitch wheel alters the tonality of the pitch as opposed to the pitch itself. There are Oscillator Mod, Mixer, Filter, Filter Contour and Loudness Contour control sections, as well as Tune and Slide Wheels. The Prodigy features a genuine Moog four-pole 24dB/octave lowpass filter (the Emphasis knob), A/D/S envelope generator, and LFO with square or triangle waveforms and routing to the VCF, VCO, or both. The synthesizer features both Pitch and Mod wheels."

You can find additional Klavis Grainity demos in previous posts here.

"Today we take a deep dive with Grainity, the first ever granular filter. It runs a multimode and granular filter in parallel, and proves to be a fun sound design tool. It offers a lot of sounds from subtle textures and metallic sounds, to detuned unison, phaser and of course, broken up granular sounds."

How to make MELODIC TECHNO on EURORACK like TALE OF US

video upload by Endorphin.es

"Does it melodic techno? The answer is yes!
We have prepared a full live system consisting of a full drum kit with QUEEN OF PENTACLES as well as 3 melodic voices structured around GODSPEEDs / FURTHRRRR GENERATOR and GHOST modules.
We will break down how to make a track by Tale of Us (@Afterlifeofc) called Nova and will guide you through sound design / processing techniques used to create a club ready sound.
The above system will be present at @SonarFestival D+ 2023 and later in our show room this summer, which you can book with us directly if you are in La Ciudad Condal!"

WELSON SYNTEX / VERMONA ER-9

video upload by

"Welson Syntex - our favorite Italian monophonic dual oscillators with 4 footages each, a Moog ladder filter and white and pink noise - you'll hear it in this video.
The Random Music button triggers random notes but can also be routed to control the LFO of the noise and filter sections to create rhythmic, drum-like patterns - here that snappy filter comes to good use.
What seems like a goofy novelty is actually pretty neat.
The LFO triggering is stable so dialing in the tempo to an existing track is a breeze - but I am thinking of putting MIDI and CV Gate in to this machine anyways - to be able to arpeggiate the Welson Syntex is the stuff of dreams.
Here I'm using some of the presets as well - they're surprisingly good - although most of them are not tweakable which is another thing I might look into.
This rather slim, elongated synthesizer growls and howls - it distorts on its own internally so no need to add distortion - but can also generate gentle and sweet flute and whistle sounds - summing it up its a versatile synthesizer.

Sitting in on second drums we got a German 'Ostie' - East German - machine - the Vermona ER-9.
It's thin but harsh sounding - very electronic - and quite a looker as well.
Just the way we prefer them - it's got separate volume controls for each sound."

"To our friends, artists, partners, collaborators, and community:

It is my pleasure and privilege to bring you the exciting news that Moog Music has joined the inMusic family.

With its diverse roster of innovative companies across the music technology space, inMusic is known for its dedication to developing quality performance and production instruments for musicians across the globe. We are thrilled to join this group of talented, like-minded people who support our mission as we continue to design and build the world’s best-sounding electronic musical instruments.

Devoted to maintaining the sound, quality, and manufacturing philosophy that Moog is known for, inMusic is able to offer solutions to support the areas that have been ongoing challenges for our company as a small manufacturing business. This new partnership will enable us access to inMusic's efficient global distribution and supply chain network while providing inMusic and its affiliated brands with deep expertise in analog synthesis.

With product development continuing to be led by Steve Dunnington, a long-time Moog engineer and former student of Bob Moog, we are proud to keep engineering, designing, and building instruments in our hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, USA.

Our new partners at inMusic, based in Cumberland, Rhode Island, will bring an extraordinary wealth of knowledge and experience to help bolster our efforts and build upon our 70-year legacy.

The recent conversations that I've had with inMusic CEO Jack O'Donnell have been inspiring, to say the least. Jack shared with me the stories of his first synthesizer, a Moog modular system, and the impact this instrument and Bob's vision have had on his career. We had the opportunity to host Jack at the Moog factory recently and share with him the passion and dedication our small team brings to our work daily.

We are excited to introduce you to the many innovative hardware and software instruments our team has on the horizon. This partnership with inMusic will allow us to reach new communities and continue to push the boundaries of music technology. Finding a partner that honors our values, mission, and legacy is a great boon for our company and community.

The future is bright for Moog and the incredible community that has embraced our instruments and all we stand for. We’re grateful for your loyalty and support along the way, and we can’t wait for you to see (and hear) all that’s ahead.

Sincerely,

Joe Richardson
President, Moog Music"
