Sequential Six-Trak | How to use Midi CC and a controller

video upload by Espen Kraft

"Using midi cc to change parameters on a Six-Trak is very easy. All the parameter values inside the Six-Trak is written on the front panel. Just add the value of 2 and program your controller with that total value. Example: Cut-off Frequency is #19 inside the Six-Trak. Add 2 and you get #21. That's the CC value you program into your controller.

The manual is very clear on how all the MIDI modes are selected, how to enable Midi CC parameter change etc. The stuff I show in the beginning of the video."

Introducing Univer Inter: A chainable 8-output MIDI-to-CV converter and USB Interface

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Pre-order the Univer Inter here: https://bit.ly/42SarJl
Orders will begin shipping on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

Visit your favorite retailer or click here for more information about Univer Inter: https://bit.ly/42SarJl

Univer Inter is an 8-channel MIDI-to-CV converter, but it does a lot more. Chain two through the TRS jacks on the front panel. Configure it to send any type of MIDI signal per channel through the UI app at the new-and-improved Noise Engineering Customer Portal. Plus UI has a tiny footprint: just 6HP.

Currently, we have over 20 options for each output, with a bit more planned in the coming months. Are we missing a behavior you'd like the UI to be able to send to your modular? Hit reply and let us know!

Many of you are familiar with the background on UI. In the heady days of January 2020, we went to NAMM and presented three new modules, which we said were all soon-to-be released. In June 2023, we are finally releasing the last of these three. In geologic timescales, we weren't wrong...so I'm sticking with that definition.

Alas, we all know all the trials and tribulations of the past three years. Univer Inter has been waiting patiently for parts and then for us to have the infrastructure for it. And now, at long last, we are so pleased to open preorders.

If you're looking for a way to bring MIDI into your modular system, you'll be amazed at the flexibility and ease of use of Univer Inter."

Describing Univer Inter as merely a MIDI-to-CV module falls short of its immense potential. It serves as an all-encompassing MIDI-to-any-format converter, elegantly packed into a compact 6 HP unit. Connect to your gear via USB B or TRS MIDI, or use the included adapter to plug straight into those 5-pin DIN connecters we all know and love. Whether you’re looking to map clock, note, CC, aftertouch or something else that MIDI can encode, UI can do it: we built in over 20 settings for each of the 8 outputs.

Want to control a pair of monophonic voices, complete with velocity and aftertouch? No problem. How about a polyphonic setup, with gate and pitch per voice? Easy. Need to synchronize an in-the-rack sequencer with your DAW or a MIDI clock? UI has you covered.

Eight outputs isn’t enough, you say? Chain two UI together via their front-panel MIDI ports and a TRS cable for 16 – you read that right, 16 – configurable CV outputs from a single MIDI connection. The possibilities are endless.

We also made configuration simple via the front-panel USB connection and the easy-to-use Univer Inter section on the Noise Engineering Customer Portal. Go wild and set each channel to any output option you need, or just use one of our simple presets. Configuration files can also be saved as sysex files for easy backup and sharing.

GIANTS | Bernie Krause

video upload by Moog Music Inc

"'GIANTS' is a platform for legendary electronic musicians and innovators to express themselves through the art of storytelling. This documentary series, filmed and produced by Moog Music, is about honoring and preserving the legacy of these artists and sharing their untold stories with the world.

This installment of 'GIANTS' focuses on one of the Moog modular synthesizer’s earliest advocates: soundscape ecologist and bio-acoustician Bernie Krause.

Once a Motown session guitarist intrigued by early advancements in the world of electronic music, the artist’s first Moog modular synthesizer encounter in 1965 led him to develop a new understanding of sound and musical expression. It was this understanding and early adoption of the instrument—co-owning one of the very first models—that helped Bernie and his musical partner Paul Beaver introduce the Moog synthesizer to the likes of George Harrison, The Monkees, The Byrds, and The Rolling Stones."
