Yet Another Happy (Eurorack) Accident

video upload by Musical Miscellany (Poorness Studios)

"I recently found this 0HP Low Pass Gate from Mystic Circuits in a drawer and decided to build a patch around it. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what I did but I really liked the result so I decided to share it with my subscribers. I made a couple similar videos a few years ago. There are a lot of happy accidents that happen with modular synthesizers."

Previously:

Another Happy (Eurorack) Accident

"I was testing out my new IME (The Harvestman) Polivoks ADSR/VCA module (I bought it used from eBay) and somehow it evolved into this generative patch. I just recorded a couple minutes pf audio but I thought it was worth sharing.

It reminded me of this video I did back in 2016:

A Happy (Eurorack) Accident

"I rearranged my Eurorack case recently. After I was done, I tested all the modules and along the way, I came up with this patch accidentally."

LoFi Future VGA FX Experimenter - Demo with three T-420 micro analog glitch processors

video upload by LoFiFuture

LoFi Future VGA FX Experimenter Basic CV Demo (No FX)
video upload by LoFiFuture

"Available to order here: https://lofifuturestore.square.site/p...

The VGA FX EXPERIMENTER is a desktop utility module that allows you to process HD VGA signals (or HDMI with some cheap converters) through your existing standard definition composite analog glitch processors.

Each channel features:

- level control

-momentary button that maxes out the level with just a press (great performance tool)

- a FX bypass switch (to bypass the FX box you have connected to that channel)

- a link button (these can link any of the RGB channels together to create interesting colour effects)

- a CV input that responds to positive CV or gate inputs to lower or mute that channel (the higher the CV signal, the lower the channel level)

Its a great way to experiment with analog HD video, just grab a couple of VGA / HDMI converter boxes and you can process HDMI video as analog signals and then convert them back to HDMI for convenience.

No need for a TBC what so ever! The sync signals on VGA are isolated on their own wires and not effected by this device at all. You can glitch as heavy as you want and it will come out as a valid signal. A game changer for VJs and live glitch artists who dont want to lug around a big video mixer, TBC or even a CRT and a Camera. All of which I have lugged in an out of taxis enough to yearn for a better solution!"

Pics of the inside below.

"Made in 1987 in Cottbus, former East Germany. Most likely based on Korg Poly-61 with some extras. Equipped with a fully functional MIDI system (in/out/thru(!)), a simple sequencer, chord memory, patch transfer function via tape interface and a rather unuseful Autotune function, which just freezes the synth (nothing bad happens, just turn it off and on).

Typical analog-poly sound combined with total rawness and uniqueness. Surprisingly quiet, less noisy than most of my gear. Keeps in tune, although hadn't been tuned by me and in years and years generally, so there might be a tiny repetitive difference between tones. But that definitely gives it some character anyway."

Yamaha CS-80 with the ULTIMATE UPGRADE

"Welcome to the very best Yamaha CS-80 to ever be available for sale. The very best in terms of electronic condition/calibration and capability, and certainly the one with the longest life expectancy you can find. A life expectancy longer by some decades from the other not-upgraded 'regular' CS-80s you will find around.

Why is that ? Because not only has it been fully serviced but also it has the most advanced and thorough upgrade ever to be installed in a CS-80. And very possibly never to be matched in the near nor distant future.

Tek6 ๐Ÿ‘พ (Roland TR-6S, J-6, JU-06A + Pill Pedal // Erica Synths DB-01 // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"For the 94th 2-Minute video (actually it will rather be "2 x 2-Minute" ๐Ÿ˜‰), we are going for a an uplifting "melodic techno" jam, featuring the Roland JU-06A (synth chords), J-6 (synth chords), TR-6S (drums) ; Erica Synths DB-01 (Bass) ; Arturia Keystep Pro for the sequencing and live transposing parts!

The jams begins with the JU-06A playing a pattern sequenced by the Keystep Pro, where I play with the LFO rate modulating the PWM, allowing to transpose the the riff.

Then, enter the Drums with the TR-6S (only one pattern was used here with the TR-6S' internal sequencer, with probability on some sounds to add small variations ๐Ÿคฉ) and the bass part played by the DB-01 Bassline (sequenced by the Keystep Pro).

At last the J-6 is being introduced to play some plucky chords: the simple chords have been sequenced on the Keystep Pro, however I used the "Arp/Rhythmic phrase" feature of the synth to make them syncopate.

* Hardware used *
- Roland TR-6S: drums
- Roland JU-06A + Pill Pedal (triggered by the TR-6S) : synth chords
- Roland J-6: synth chords
- Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline: bass
- Arturia Keystep Pro: sequencer"

WERSI WERSIMATIC II

video upload by

"It's still here and we love it - so here we go again with new music :
The Wersimatic II - the previous generation of the Wersimatic 24 auto-accompaniment machine and probably familiar to fans of the Elgam Carousel, Bรถhm Solist 78, Elka Wilgamat and Godwin Drummaker 45 units.

The Wersimatic II has 4 sections on board:
Bass line tone generator
Drum machine with individual mute options
Various chord sounds
Various Arpeggiator sounds (same sounds as chords but with busier patterns)

The bass sounds great - very nice and analog.
Drum sounds are very analog - this is sound generation in its infancy - the hi-hats scare me :)
The chord and arpeggiator sounds were processed through the Digitech Synth Wah - a relatively cheap envelope follower pedal that’s a great bang for the buck.

The sounds and controls are across the board identical to the Wersimatic 24 unit as far as we can tell but the difference being the Wersimatic II was never made as a stand-alone unit - it was part of a large, double manual organ called Wersi Helios.
This particular one is unique : it has been transplanted from that organ into a smaller box with a twelve buttons acting as chord control instead of the two bottom octaves of the organ.

Special thanks to Organfairy for the rare schematics that were necessary to complete the repair : dude you f-ing rock
