Robby East "Holding Ground" (the nightwater remix)

video upload by the nightwater

"Ive always really liked the song 'Holding Ground' by Robby East and was messing with the lead melody on my Moog Mother 32. Wasn't really trying to remix this track but ended up building out the whole song and it turned out decent."

"The equipment used includes the SEQUENTIAL Prophet-5, Poly-Sequencer, and Roland VS-1880. The conversion from MIDI sync to trigger pulses was carried out by the Doepfer MSY2, enabling synchronization between the VS-1880 and the Poly-Sequencer."

Noise Engineering - New Oscillators

video upload by John Schussler

"Noise Engineering makes killer modules, so it's always a good day when new stuff comes out. Over the past several months they've released a bunch of new modules, including 4 new oscillators (not to mention a bunch of other stuff).

I was interested to see how the voices compared to each other, to see if each had a specific character that would clearly stand out as unique to that module. I was also interested to see how the Sinc Legio, which is a smaller form factor than the others, stacked up.

Haken Audio EaganMatrix Micro

Details follow:

"The power of EaganMatrix Sound Technology in our smallest product ever! The EaganMatrix Micro is a full-featured EaganMatrix sound engine in a small self-contained form factor, and is be powered and controlled via USB.

The EaganMatrix Micro (system identifier u2x) provides a truly versatile framework for both studio and live performance, with a robust implementation of MPE and MPE+ Midi.

The EaganMatrix Micro is a perfect companion to the amazing Warbl Wind Controller. The fingering holes on the Warbl are not just switches. You can hear that the pitch starts off a bit as the finger gets close to the hole (like it would on an acoustic wind instrument) and hits the final pitch once the hole is covered. It’s a subtle effect but important. The following video shows 15 Presets from the Micro’s demo assortment that Edmund Eagan skillfully customized to take advantage of the Warbl’s specific sensing technology. In the future there may be demo assortments customized for the sensing technologies of other devices.

"Synchrodyne and Synchrodyne Expand, 2 modules and 4 ribbon cables. The expander is from the latest batch before it was discontinued. I painted the front panels with alcohol inks and used a high gloss varnish finish. I color coded the different sections of the module to make it easier for me to understand which jacks and knobs are related. The PLLs are blue, first oscillator is red, second oscillator is yellow, first filter is purple and pink, second filter is yellow, and the compressor is green."

"Great rare VA with only a few hundred made, even fewer on latest firmware. Ignore the factory presets. Multitimbral, see video for example of its drum synthesis. Hate to see it go.

On the only usable firmware revision, all others are like having 2x Darkstar XPs, but glitchy with low output. You can only get the firmware image from the vendor, then would need to actually burn the chip and install.

The faceplate, like a lot of things from this era, has a coating that wears off, which makes it a bit of a dust magnet. All knobs, buttons, outputs, and joystick fully functional."

UNO SYNTH PRO X: A PLAYER'S APPROACH - Carlo Mezzanotte

video upload by carlomezz

"A little journey with a tiny but aggressive analog synth: Uno Synth Pro X by IK Multimedia. With three oscillators, dual filter, three envelopes, two LFOs, analog drive, fm, sync, rm, three stages of digital effects, patch memory and a 64-step sequencer, it offers a great price/performance ratio.
Since most presets and demos seem to be based on sequencing, in making and playing my patches I tried to focus on playability. All original sounds, programmed from scratch. No external effects.

Eventide Harmonizer H949 Demo with Roland JX3P + Fender Jaguar + Yamaha PM-1000

video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics

"Here's a wonderful piece of outboard gear restored by our shop...the Eventide Harmonizer H-949 Pitch Shifter. This demo is for Vartan who just purchased this unit.

The gear used on this video was a Roland JX3P Synthesizer, 1984 Fender Jaguar, Yamaha PM-1000, recorded straight into a Focusrite Clarett+ 8 Pre.

Intro 00:00-00:25
JX3P Sequence I: 00:26-05:06
JX3P 2 DCO Sequence : 05:07-05:56
Fender Jaguar Pitch Shifting: 05:57-08:12
Fender Jaguar Pitch/Rainbow Delays: 08:13-09:14
Fender Jaguar II : 09:15-10:10
H949 HOLD Function: 10:11-11:49

History on the H-949:
The Eventide H949 Harmonizer was a pitch-shifting and harmonizing device released in 1979-1984 that was a significant step forward in the development of these technologies:
-De-glitched pitch shifting: The H949 was the first pitch-changing device to analyze audio in real-time and avoid audible glitches.
-MicroPitch: This feature used a proprietary modulation technique to precisely control small pitch shifts.
-Multiple harmonies: The H949 could create up to five simultaneous harmonies using multiple pitch-shifting algorithms.
-Digital display: The H949 had a digital display that made it easier to adjust parameters than its predecessor, the H910.
-Randomized delay: The H949 included a randomized delay feature.
-Reversed delays: The H949 included a reversed delay feature.
-Flanging: The H949 included a flange feature.
-Real-time tuning: The H949's features made real-time tuning possible, which was long before Autotune.
-Double-tracking emulation: The H949's features made double-tracking emulation possible.

This Eventide H-949 was overhauled/restored by our shop here in Columbus, Ohio. Please visit us on our website, if you have a broken Harmonizer, or vintage synthesizer, drum machine, tape machine or other vintage outboard gear.

Machinedrum and Monomachine Miami bass groove #jamuary2025 #petitvictorycollective #elektron

video upload by HANJŌ

"This year I decided to go all-in on the classic Elektron silver boxes for Jamuary.

On this jam the Machinedrum is laying down those punchy, syncopated Miami bass grooves, while the Monomachine is adding some sharp, single-cycle waveform stabs and a thick bass for extra flavor.

I'm keeping things raw and minimal, focusing on sound design directly from the boxes rather than relying on external processing. It’s been fun exploring how far these classics can go with just their internal tools—letting the workflow and quirks of the Elektrons shape the track.

Anyone else diving into old-school gear for Jamuary?"
