"The Tiracon VST is a rompler based on the extremely rare Tiracon 6v synthesizer, manufactured by the German Democratic Republic (GDR) directly from 1987. It's an analog synthesizer with a digital control unit. It features a genuine ZX Spectrum processor with six expansion boards, as well as a cassette tape input for programming the device.
Currently, it offers four banks of 32 instruments, just like the original device, controlled via MIDI CC#32, as well as a free Tiracon Lite version.

"Introducing the One-Bit Delay plugin - a VST/AU inspired by the one-bit sampling delay circuits from the 90's. it is my love letter to the classic delay chips like the PT2399 and M50195P.

this plugin uses a one-bit stream at its core. like the classic chips, this plugin uses delta-sigma modulation to manage noise above the audio band (though the plugin has a configurable sample rate to change the noise level!). also the One-Bit Delay plugin has demodulation filters tuned to the PT2399, and the harmonic distortion is modeled and closely follows the change in resistance applied to the internal oscillator (like the PT2399).

"How Close Is Close Enough? Is the TR-1000 really a TR-909 replacement… or is that missing the point entirely?

In this deep-dive comparison, I also put the Roland TR-1000 head-to-head with my original Roland TR-909 to see how close we can actually get — and more importantly, where the differences really matter.

Roland are clear: this isn’t meant to be a clone. But with TR-909-style analogue circuits, 808-inspired elements, and ACB models under the hood, it begs the question… can you sell your 909 and fund a TR-1000 instead?

After putting these 2 together I realised the biggest tonal difference isn’t to get that live 909 vibe is the main outputs. The TR-909’s main outs are band-limited, with less low-end and a high-frequency tilt that creates that bright, exciting presence. I do like gear peeps, don’t get me wrong, but I think you’d be better off just diving heavily into two instruments. Call them “instruments” too. When you call them “gear” it removes the fact that you’re 'playing' something. Give the instruments their creative intention back lol. Dave Smith Tempest is still the best. Groovebox lord."
