Teletype and Just friends | it was practically magic

video upload by patchesinblue

"first time using i2c to have the Monome teletype speak to Whimsical Raps just friends. i started studying and got distracted

the MakeNoise mimeophon is there to preserve and repeat the history of what was said; occasionally; like little echoes of memories that surface suddenly, often blurring the lines between what was said and what was meant and understood

the er-301 adds grains of weariness from having to listen and remember

the Hologram Electronics microcosm creates much needed space to breathe

Thank you to vecteezy for their bird vectors that helped me created the animation"

Monome Norns: Cheat Codes 2 + Mannequins Just Friends

Matt Lowery

"Dan released an update to cheat codes 2 that is so cool. Basically, each pad on a cheat codes bank can send notes to a just friends that is connected via crow. That can then come back into cheat codes as material for the live record buffers. Leads to some very fun exploration. Here's a few minutes of this morning's session. I have buttons mapped on the midi fighter twister to generate new patterns within cheat codes."

Octatrack vs Modular ~ We were young

EZBOT

"In this video I use the 'remixer' method with my 104 7u case full of awesome modules including the new Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio and Mannequins W/ with the new beta firmware set to an FM synth. All the sounds come from the modular and the Octarack is a mixer, FX box, and resampler for looping.

Better sound of Arturia MatrixBrute? Roland Jupiter and SH101, Korg MS20, Prophet 5?

Published on Sep 9, 2019 PawelBlaszczak_Composer

"How Arturia is sounding with third filter, with a lot of other third filters :) I'm testing how Arturia working with different eurorack filters from Korg MS20, Roland Jupiter 6, Roland SH101, Oberheim SEM, Prophet 6, Polikvoks and Prophet 5. Also Three Sisters filter checking.

This is test from composer/producer to others composer/producers so don't expect engineer oscilloscope detailed test. I'm artist, not engineer so far :)

So here are full list of filters with same order as showing:
1. Korgasmatron II from Intellijel - Korg MS20 filter,
2. Doepfer A-106-5 SEM - Oberheim filter
3. Jove80 from System 80 - Roland Jupiter 6, Roland SH101 filter,
4. Curtis Filter from Dave Smith - Prophet 6 filter,
5. Z2040 from TipTop - Prophet 5 rev 2 filter,
6. Black Polivoks VCF from Erica Synth - Polivoks filter,
7. Three Sisters from Mannequins

I used FabFilter L2 at the end of signal, since I thing loudness isn't most important factor here. No other effects.
Also, when I put to much resonance to duck the whole signal for not destroying your speakers, headphones. So, it isn't truth how Arturia is sound with max settings of resonance, because signal is ducked.

And sorry SEM presented is 12dB, not 6dB, sorry of that!

English is my second language, so sorry for mistakes. Hope you'll like it, not mistakes of course, but filters :)"

Mangrove Module through Sirin Filter Testing - NuEVI - Mark Steiner

Published on Aug 12, 2019 Mark Steiner

"Raw Video of very initial shape exploring of the Mangrove Module through the Sirin VCF. Breath is changing the wave shape. Occasionally I growl and the CV brings it in. I'm only using the one Eurorack module going in to the Sirin, so imagine all the amazing shape changing you can do with even just a few more modules, even simple utility. I suspect this will sound even cooler when I drive VCA with breath instead of VCF. Just does better with wood wind things that way. Plus the Sirin has a VCA and VCF CV in, so with a Eurorack simple mixer you can send various %'s of VCA and VCF from breath and/or vibrato.... now that is how you do it. All analog here. And not yet even using the Sirin VCO's, which have tricks of their own."

Before You Know // Eurorack, Squarp Hermod, Plaits, Mangrove, Telharmonic & Plonk

Published on Apr 7, 2018 Lost For Words

"First play/track with the Squarp Hermod. Just a simple single sequence. Recorded directly to cassette. Mastered with Ozone in Reaper. Patch notes below :

All sequencing from Hermod.
Track 1 to plaits in classic waveforms mode with 2nd osc offset. Chance set as an effect on Hermod. Aux output goes to the Tapo delay.
Track 2 pitch only to Telharmonic which drones continuously.
Track 3 to Plonk with ratchet effect
Track 4 is a modulator track sending LFO to Plaits morph
Track 5 to Mother 32
Track 6 is pulse note only to trigger the drum on Peaks LHS
Track 7 is an arpeggio sent to Mangrove. Fast and over 3 octaves. This track runs from the beginning because I'm not using a gate/envelope on the Mangrove. I bring the sound in in via the Erica Synths Black mixer slightly off camera and Maths controls the Three Sisters filter cutoff so it sweeps in and out. Maths is also modulating the panning on the Black mixer. Love this Mangrove sound."

Meet W/

Published on Mar 14, 2018 Gil Michell

"Introductions.

W/ performances by Menq Qi, stud1nt, and Sam Wolk."

via Whimsical-Raps

"HISTORY NAVIGATOR, CONNECTING PATCHSHAPES IN TEMPORAL ARRANGEMENT

W/ takes a nowness and returns it in a futurenow. Eight hours of audio sculpture to be recorded in and over and around. In fugues conversations fold, a fresh context for renewed identity.

Considered as a traditional tape system, W/'s sounds can be played forward and back / at fixed speeds / with continuous through-zero momentum. These playings-back are of voices recorded with IN, layered sound upon sounds. Passing moments are joined into repeating loops with a rhythmic switch.

Beyond the loop these timestamped cues become compositional signposts. Edit and audition; trigger and pitch- a sampler is revealed. THIS and THAT respond to the scene, controlling speed and cue-selection, recording states & tapehead manipulations.

A celebration of muscle-memory & cheat-code combos, W/ rewards persistence with persistence. Held up to an instrument, a hall-of-mirrors, multiplying in and on reflection."

meng qi - dinner thought

Published on Jan 14, 2018 Meng Qi

"Emotionally, 'what for dinner' is my most important decision in a day. As good choices bring essential daily happiness.

Technically, Just Type is the main sound source, a Mangrove to beef up low end. Two Sisters, one in crossover mode for tone shaping, another in format mode for intense effects, sometimes percussive.

I think the charm lies in the method of polyphony stacking to distortion (a thing to avoid in 'normal' sense) for timber morphing. And occasionally jumping modulations to provide a feel of paragraphs."

Grave

Published on Jul 24, 2017 Joe Miller

"A live modular performance based around a Radio Music sample. The new Radio Music firmware allows loading WAV files directly to the SD card. Make it much faster to try things!

Radio Music gives the strings sounds going into Clouds.
Mangrove provides the higher melody.
Elements provides metallic percussion.
Rings provide the deep kick/hits.
Clocking and rhythms by Pamela's New Workout, Octone, Stillson Hammer MKii, and Kinghts Gallop.
WMD Performance Mixer ties it all together."
