Modular Synth Lunchbox by c1t1zen

Published on Jan 12, 2017 Patrick OBrien

"This modular synth lunchbox kit from c1t1zen Modular is a hit in my studio! 38HP and powers via USB.

The eurorack modules are all running off power from a Mophie phone charger.

Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas is the only voice in this patch, melting faces with help from Intellijel's Quadra, wicked random triggering from 2HP Modular's Rnd, some Dave Smith Instruments Curtis Filter, and Expert Sleepers Disting 3 with the delay.

Check c1i1zen's page for more info on the modular lunchbox: http://modular.c1t1zen.com/"

Sputnik Modular Performance :: "No Regrets"

Published on Jun 3, 2018 Mike Thomas

"A modular synthesizer performance carried out on a Sputnik Modular system. All sounds, and most "control" done with Sputnik modules.

PATCH NOTES
===========
I traded out the WMD Tool-Box for 2hp Div (really needed a clock divider!), 2hp Delay, and 2hp Tune (quantizer). This opened up the case for more interesting rhythmic stuff and allows the Disting to take on other roles when needed (though, ironically, it didn't get used in this patch).

In order of appearance ...

Percussion/rhythm is pink and white noise alternated by Sputnik Selector and enveloped by a channel of Quad Function and Trigger Source (QFTS). Decay modulated by a West Coast Random Source (WCRS) Fluctuating Random Voltages (FRV).

First voice is Sputnik Oscillator Sub output, which is eventually mixed with the Main/Waveshaped output. Waveshaping parameter modulated by WCRS Stored Random Voltage (SRV). Notes "sequenced" by WCRS Quantized Random Voltages (QRV), and quantized by 2hp Tune (major scale). QRV index hand modulated. 2hp Tune's "Bias" parameter modulated by 5-Step Voltage Source (5SVS). Final mixed output sent to Quad VCF/VCA (QVV) in LPG mode and sent to a second channel of QVV in Filter mode, also manually wiggled.

Second/bass voice is Sputnik Dual Oscillator Sine and Final outputs mixed and enveloped by QFTS and QVV. Envelope is also modulating Timbre. Modulation oscillator is in VCO mode and AMing the main oscillator. Modulation index, Harmonics Order, and Timbre manually increased over the course of the piece. Notes sequenced by one channel of 5SVS. 5SVS is advanced every other trigger from 2hp Div by multing the Div channel to WCRS S&H Pulse 'splitter'."

NAMM 2020: 2HP Lunchbox Case

Published on Jan 17, 2020 Perfect Circuit

"2hp came to NAMM 2020 with some pleasant surprises: three new modules and a literal lunchbox case for Eurorack modular synths.

2hp's metal lunchbox case provides 42hp of space for mounting Eurorack modules, making for the most easily portable small Euro case solution we've ever seen. Whether your system is densely packed with 2hp modules or you just want to put together a system of a few modules to take to a picnic, this lunchbox case is a fun addition to any modular enthusiast's setup.
2hp plans to release full systems of their modules based around this tiny case—and it's truly remarkable just how much you can pack into such a small instrument.

Modular Iteration ✨

Modular Iteration 1/3 ✨ video upload by Andrea Marzilli

"Finally I had some time to study my newest eurorack system! This video is about some Mutable Instruments Plaits waves heavy modulated by @Qu - Bit Prism and Data Bender, plus some helps from @Noise Engineering Versio. ✨

Wear your headphones for detailed audio. 🎧"

Modular Iteration 2/3 ✨

"So I realized another soundscape with the same system, using different actors.
Here you will find a @Qu - Bit Surface modulated by Mutable Instruments Tides on the @2hp Modular VCA in order to create different envelope rhythms. It goes straight inside the Prism for some filtering and, at the end of its path, the lonely Surface meets a @Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio creating the magic space. ✨
@Arturia Augmented Voices helps me with some basses added in post.

Wear your headphones for bass and detailed audio. 🎧"

Modular Iteration 3/3 ✨

"Here we are! Last jam, I’ll do it short: Mutable Instruments Rings is sequenced by @Qu - Bit Bloom and modulated by Tides. Monsoon is freezing a note coming from Rings and Data Bender is giving aaall the rhythms to the system. @Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio adds the timeless space, as always.

Headphones = details. 🎧"

4/4/24 (swarm) Gieskes Klok & No Drum + Zerosum Inertia PLXNA2 + OAM Uncertainty + Lexicon PCM 70

video upload by Cfpp0

"Butterflies, bats, 16mm swarm: Gieskes Klok modulates itself and No Drum and Olivia Artz Modular Uncertainty, which modulates No Drum, while Klok gates No Drum."

You cand find additional Gieskes Kok module posts here.

This appears to be the first post to feature Olivia Artz Modular. Details on their modules follow via Perfect Circuit and Noisebug.

"Uncertainty from Olivia Artz Modular is a 2hp coin toss module; it is open source, with new, user-swappable firmware being developed. So, it will continue to grow and offer new functionality!

In the standard firmware, the top input accepts gates, triggers, or any signal between -5V and +5V. Based on whether the input is positive or negative, it uses two different types of logic to produce gates at the corresponding eight outputs. If the input is above +1V, then the module does eight differently-weighted "coin tosses"—one for each output. If the outcome of the toss is "heads," a +5V signal is output for as long as the input stays above 1V. If the input signal is -1V or lower, a slightly different coin toss algorithm is used, where the outputs are paired—if the result of the toss is "heads," the upper output of the pair in question sends out a signal, and if it's "tails," the lower outputs sends out a signal.

Alternate firmwares are available for free, and loading them is as easy as plugging in your module via the rear PCB USB connection, dragging on a file, and you're done. The first new official firmware is a VU meter—with the panel LEDs displaying the current voltage level, and each LED getting a dedicated gate output—somewhat like a multi-window comparator! Olivia Artz's Uncertainty module is a great way to add chance operations to your rack without sacrificing space.

UNCERTAINTY FEATURES

2HP chance module with alternate firmwares available
Default firmware uses two distinct coin toss algorithms to convert incoming bipolar signals into eight streams of outgoing gates
Open source
One CV input with 10-bit resolution
Eight gate outputs"

Modular synth countdown: Same 10 Eurorack modules

Published on Nov 10, 2016 Patrick OBrien

Cool little skiff.

"I set a challenge for myself to come up with 10 different patches using the same 10 modules that are built inside a 3U case.

I originally posted these 10 short patches on my Instagram account--not in this order--and received a decent response from the modular synth community there, so I thought I'd rank the views in order from least viewed to most viewed.

The modules used in this case:

Mutable Instruments Peaks
Doepfer Wasp Filter A-124SE
Mutable Instruments Elements

XOR NerdSeq DAY 1 Modular Synth Jam Live Recording

Published on Sep 5, 2018 SonicVoltage

Website: https://sonicvoltage.com

"My first day/track with the XOR Electronics NerdSeq Sequencer. Eurorack Modular CV Gate Sequencer. Patch Description in the Video.

A Modular Synth Jam - Best way to learn a new sequencer is to write tracks while discovering its features. This gives me a good idea of how quick the NerdSeq is to learn and how quickly I can master the user interface.

The XOR NerdSeq is actually a bit more than a 6 Traks sequencer.
- Six tracks of CV+Trigger+Mod (1 Trigger and 2 CVs per track)
- Plus Tracks 7 and 8 dedicated to sequence samples. Actually track 7 and 8 each has two sequencing tracks, this means you can sequence/play 4 samples at the time. So it sort of is a 10 Track sequencer although each set of dual sample tracks is mixed into one output. Output 7 and 8

This is only my first experiment with the XOR NerdSeq, expect a full in depth review from me ASAP, probably over a few videos so we can cover all its features in some detail.

Patch descirption for each voice used in this live track is in the video.
The drum samples are short samples that come preloaded in the SD Card. So all percussive sounds are NerdSeq Card samples, played and sequenced through the NerdSeq.

Modules used in this track
XOR NerdSeq
Erica Synth Pico VCO, Pico Voice, Pico DSP
2HP Pluck, 2HP EG, 2HP ADSR

Sputnik Modular Quad VCF/VCA
Doepfer A-124 VCF5 Wasp Filter

Pro 3: The Ultimate Gateway to Eurorack?

video upload by Synthetic World 859

"Sequential Pro 3-based eurorack! Tutorial/walkthrough on adding the fewest modules possible to the Pro 3 to get a living modular music making machine! Kind of crazy how easy it was. The sequencer is so powerful and since there are 4 CV ins and outs, there was a ton of room to play. I really only scratched the surface of what's possible here, there's a whole world of modular just waiting to be explored using the Pro 3 at the core of the system. Accessing the LFOs, the envelopes, sending the oscillators in and out...I really feel like this instrument would make getting into eurorack for beginners so much easier, so I kind of treated this like a beginners guide to eurorack too. You could legitimately just add one or two modules and create entire tracks! It also seems to cover a lot of the same ground as Pamela's New Workout, which serves as the brain of a lot of modular synth systems.

Modules used:
TipTop uZeus
2hp Kick
STG Soundlabs .MIX
After Later Audio Benjolin v2
ALM Pip Slope
Electrosmith 2164 VCA
