Tangible Waves AE Modular 3-Row Custom System 31 Modules, Cables, PSU, etc. Exc.

via this auction

"Custom (1 of 1) AE Modular rig by Tangible Waves. This is NOT the AE Starter 1 and 2 combined, this unit was hand built by the company’s founder, and the man himself, Robert Langer. This is an AMAZINGLY capable modular rig that goes well above and beyond both the AE Modular Starter Rack 1 and/or 2. It has been assembled, tested, hardly used, for all intents and purposes.. brand new.

NAMM & NOT NAMM - New Products on the Synth Front

Well, it's that time of year again. Keep an eye out on the NAMM label (added to top right menu) for everything NAMM and more. More in that anything new will get the label whether it's shown at NAMM or not. It's about new gear. Updates in this post will be preceded in red. Some already in below. See "The NAMM List!" link under the Twitter, Facebook, and RSS labels on top of the right to get back to this post later.

(A note on the top site menus: I removed the iPhone and iPad labels as they go up in posts every day now so you can find them there. eBay links are on the right, so I removed it as well.)

That said, the following are some of the things to look out for. If you have any NAMM info feel free to comment and/or send it in. If I missed anything, let me know! If you are going to NAMM, feel free to send pics and video in.

Korg MS20 Analogue Mono Synth SN 143015 w/ Japanese Panel Overlay

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is not the mini version and not the recent re-released kit. This is the genuine thing. It has the MK2 filter and also includes the very rare Acetate overlay (text in Japanese) that has protected the front panel so well over the years. This is easy attached/removed, but I have left it on most of the time to provide more protection.

The entire machine is in great condition. Barely any marks on the paintwork. No corrosion, no splits in the end panels and all the keys are clean and undamaged. I bought in Japan many years ago, but have concerted to 230V for the UK mains. Im a professional electronic engineer, so this job has been done properly. Of course it works very nicely and sounds great."

KORG KRONOS Details

via Hispasonic, translated to Googlish from Spanish:

"We have the first data and images of Kronos, the new Korg workstation. The Japanese brand has pulled the house out the window, bringing to market a synth with more than 12 GB SSD hard disk samples, 9 synthesis engines together, 16 units of effects and KARMA technology.

Features in detail

There are 9 synthesis engines on a single workstation, available in 61, 76 and 88 keys. The engines are:

* SGX-1 Premium Piano: German piano with more than 4 GB in samples. 8 layers and the choice of opening angle of the tail of the piano.
* EP-1 MDS Electric Piano, electric pianos (with sound "signature" by George Duke, Herbie Hancock Rodan Rudess or others)
* CX-3 Organ Tonewheel: integrating technology famed CX-3 in the Kronos. Drawbars controllable from its faders. Leslie Posilibidad to adjust the joystick, from speed to the position you just rotate.
* MS20-EX Legacy Analog Collection: emulation of vintage Korg MS20 synth.
-EX * Polysix Legacy Analog Collection: Polysix emulation.
* AL-1 Analog Synthesizer
* NOD-7 Waveshaping VPM Synthesizer
* STR-1 Plucked String Synthesizer: a new generation of modeling. You can choose from the material of the rope, until the tension, the execution (if pick, rub with your finger ...)
* HD-1 High Definition Synthesizer: A portion of all types of samples.

Account with a set of 16 "sets" may be, from Programs, to vans, to sequences. What makes the live performance much easier and full of possibilities. One of the most exciting new features is that you can move from one set to another without interruption of sound (so if you keep notes of the previous set, still playing).

It eliminates the concept appears rompler and integration / provision of more than 12 GB of content hosted on a hard disk SSD.

Has integrated USB connection to your computer, not just save / edit, but also as a USB interface with 2 inputs and 2 outputs.

Section 16 effects available. 9-band equalizer general. Flexible Routing. Mastering tools. 16-track sequencer."

KORG Monotron Song - Tiger Dance

YouTube via audibleobsession | October 28, 2010

"A simple KORG Monotron groove. All sounds are played with the KORG Monotron Analogue Synthesizer. Additional drums from NI Battery 3 (Preset "Dragon Kit") and convolution reverb from NI Reflektor. Compression and EQ from UAD 1176LN, Helios Type 69 EQ, and Ableton Live's 8-Band (mostly for LPF to get rid of that notorious hum that plagues the Monotron). Line-in recording into my trusty M-Audio Firewire Solo. That's it!

Dancing girls are public domain videos found on archive.org.

Apologies if the bassline and groove get repetitive, really just a quick tune trying to show the kind of badass basslines and leads you can get from the Monotron. It really shines when you get some nice PWM going and push that MS20 filter hard. The LFO self oscillates nicely too. Overall, the best $60 bucks I've ever spent. Looking forward to moding it now."

DIY

"A test of a few devices I have that are all DIY

Main sequence is an Anushri By Mutable instruments , the drums are also the Anushri, but I configured them to run on a different MIDI channel to take advantage of the X0X style sequencing

The filter sweeps and echo are by Little dieter by d-machinery, its a control unit for a Doepfer A100 diy analogue synth, its my noob eurorack module. The LD output is running through a Mutable instruments Shruthi1 which has a Yellow magic filter board ( clone of the korg MS20 ) with a pt2399 delay chip, so I was using t mostly as a delay/echo

It was a lot of fun goofing around, using my big toe to move the arpeggio up and down octaves and running out of hands to twiddle the settings, but it was still fun like I said!"

Update via dude163 in the comments: "D-Machinery now have a website with the Little Dieter available as a kit

"Over the past year or so I was fortunate enough to work on this project. Eventually it became one of the most interesting synthesizers I have seen hit the market in ages. What makes the ASM HydraSynth so special? let’s start with a run down of the bullet points first.

Hydrasynth is an 8 voice digital wavemorphing synthesizer.

8 voices3 oscillators: 219 waveforms, custom wavetables with wavelist/wavescan function, ring mod, 3 noise colors.4 custom “mutator” sections each with 7 effects FM-lin,wavestack,PWM,PWM squeeze, PWM-ASM,Sync,Harmonic sweep. oscillators can be stereo panned.

2 Simultaneous filters that can be arranged in parallel or series. Filter 1 has 11 filter models including traditional Moog style 12 and 24db ladder filters, q compensated 12 and 24db ladder filters ala MatrixBrute, 18db slope LP,BP,HP,filters based on the Threeler eurorack filter, MS20 style HP and LP filters,LPG filter and a Vowel filterOscillators can blend into filters at varying amounts, Filter 2 is a SEM style multimode filter with morph control LP-BP-HP.dedicated analog 270 degree pots for cutoff, resonance and Drive/Morph.

5 6-stage DAHDSR envelopes with BPM sync allowing you to sync the slope of each stage to the beat. Looping with definable number of repeats

5 LFO each with 10 waveforms + noise, delay, fade in/out, and phase. multiple trigger modes , step mode with pattern length.

32 point mod matrix with 28 sources and 188 destinations .

8 macros each with scribble strip and up to 8 destinations each. Macro buttons also allow for quick value changes.

SY02 vs. The Sound of Shadows Light Saber Sounds

YouTube via gustofergreen — April 22, 2010 — "This started out being just me pretending I was Star Wars sound desinger Ben Burtt trying to recreate the light saber. It ended up showing off the new Sound of Shadows CV cotrolled delay unit by Flight of Harmony pretty well. I am a total newb to the modular world so my kit is very much a work in progress. I used an a-145 lfo square wave in audio range fed into the SY02 MS20 clone then into the SoS. At the end the filter is self-oscillating and so is the SoS. Sorry for the camera audio."

BTW, you can find out how the original light saber sound was made in this dblondin article.
