Auza Audio Wave Packets Module Test - MATTHS #shorts
video upload by MATTHS
via Auza Audio
Enveloped actions. Dynamic oscillations.
Bursts of energy. Capsulated audio.
Wave Packets is the first Eurorack module from design team Auza. Capable of generating complex envelopes, modulation signals and audio, the module allows you to sculpt your sound by producing time-limited signals or “wave packets”. Each wave packet is determined in the four primary dimensions of time, depth, frequency and wave shape. With five distinct unipolar and bipolar outputs, an infinite and unique range of shapes and sounds can be produced: an envelope growing from nothing to wild oscillation, a punchy bass drum with monstrous pitch decay, a ping-multiplied burst generator, an amplitude-varying LFO or timbre-morphing oscillator. Our novel model combines frequency-dynamic oscillation and function generation for crafting modulation and audio signals that fuel creativity. What emerges is a highly versatile production tool kit in 16HP.
The module can operate in three excitation modes: trigger, gate, and cycle. Once animated, the 3 depth sliders sculpt the wave packet’s overall contours, whilst the wave shape, glide and 3 frequency controls determine its oscillations through time. The five outputs map five distinct interactions between the contour function and oscillations. These can be summarised as: the pure contour, the unipolar wave, the resonating contour, the capsulated oscillator and the pure oscillator. As the outputs are simultaneously utilisable the module is fully self-patchable, allowing for new wave packet models to be achieved. Examples include patching a unipolar output into wave shape CV for morphing across timbres, or patching a bipolar output into depth CV to achieve audio-rate modulation. By utilising multiple outputs at the same time, Wave Packets can act as a hub for orchestrating movement across new and exciting patches.
Features
Ability to design novel control voltage shapes, or use as an audio source
5 simultaneously utilisable outputs with distinct models - 3 unipolar, 2 bipolar
24-bit wavetable audio oscillator, voltage-precise LFO
Continuous wave shape morphing, including PWM and skewable exponential in to sawtooth
Contour function drawn from 3 slider controls
Traverses through 3 frequencies with glide control
Colour-frequency representation LEDs
4 time stages, with LED indication, each adjustable between 0s (skip) to 10s, and optional sustain stage
'Linked' stage time mode which allows the ability to sync stage times to the oscillator period
Ability to stretch and shrink the overall wave packet using V/OCT in linked mode
Various excitation/ trigger options, including gated, trigger, cycle, pingable‑stages cycle, and free‑running modes
Ping input frequency/ rate control, with multiplication/ division or offset controls
EOS, EOC outputs
Accurate 16-bit tracking V/OCT input, +-9V range. -V useful for general FM

Heritage Audio Introduces SYNTH BUDDY - World’s First Desktop 10 to 1 Reversible Passive Stereo Switch
video upload by Heritage Audio
Press release follows:

Heritage Audio announces availability of SYNTH BUDDY as world’s first desktop 10 to 1 reversible and fully passive stereo switch
MADRID, SPAIN: European pro audio manufacturer Heritage Audio is proud to announce availability of SYNTH BUDDY — billed as being the world’s first desktop 10 to 1 reversible and fully passive stereo switch as a cost-effective, essential studio solution for seamlessly connecting up to 10 stereo (or 20 mono) line level sources, such as synths, drum machines, or samplers, and toggling between them with the twist of a knob — as of January 15, 2025…
It is fair to say that anyone who has ever dreamed about an inexpensive solution to help have multiple synths, drum machines, samplers, and other line level instruments connected and available with the twist of a knob can wake up and smell the coffee, courtesy of Heritage Audio’s SYNTH BUDDY. Indeed, its top panel-positioned 10 x1 STEREO PASSIVE SELECTOR wording gives the game away as it is possible to seamlessly connect 10 stereo (or 20 mono) line level sources to its 10 stereo/20 mono TS jack inputs and toggle between them with the twist of a knob (outputting via one stereo/two mono TS jacks) — simple as that! Talk about a dream becoming reality. And an all-passive design ensures crystal-clear line level signals with no added colouration — straight from the user’s musical mind to the song with no power source needed.
Needless to say, when creativity hits, there is no time for plugging in cables and switching gear. After all, many have experienced the creativity-killing scenario of having a great musical idea seemingly arrive out of nowhere, only for it to disappear by the time everything is set up and ready to record; no such worries when working with SYNTH BUDDY, of course, since everything is connected and available at the twist of a knob.
It is even possible to use SYNTH BUDDY ‘backwards’ by turning it into a one-input/10-output selector, so users can, for example, easily run one guitar or bass into several amps or effects — applications are (almost) endless! Either way, SYNTH BUDDY is built like a tank with an elegant desktop design — measuring merely 190mm (W) x 105mm (D) x 80mm (H) while weighing in at only 988g — that lends itself to studio or stage usage... and all without breaking the bank!
SYNTH BUDDY is shipping and available via Heritage Audio’s growing global network of dealers (https://heritageaudio.com/where-to-buy-international/) with an SSP (Standalone Selling Price) of €199.00 EUR (including VAT) in the EU and a MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) of $199.00 USD, US distribution being handled via RAD Distribution (https://raddist.com/en/brands/heritage-audio).

Introducing GForce MAP
video upload by GForce Software
GForce MAP Walkthrough
"More info at https://www.gforcesoftware.com/produc...
Born from the lineage of Serge©, Buchla©, and modular synthesis, MAP reimagines the fearless experimental spirit of the 1970s for today’s creators. Blending vintage character with modern innovation, MAP is a sound design playground for artists who see synthesis not as programming, but as exploration.
At its core, MAP features three powerful oscillators, a dual-filter architecture, and a deep modulation system with MPE support. Every sound invites hands-on discovery—from shimmering tones and gritty textures to sprawling ambient soundscapes.

PRESS RELEASE:
"AXIOM AIR MODELS EXTEND M-AUDIO CONTOLLER LINE
Premium keyboard and pad controllers created for superior software integration
Cumberland, R.I. (January 24, 2013)—M-Audio has added three new Axiom AIR models to the upper echelons of their popular Axiom USB/MIDI keyboard and pad controller lineup: the Axiom AIR 61, Axiom AIR 49, and Axiom AIR 25. Created in conjunction with AIR Music Technology, these keyboards were designed to deliver a high level of integration with a broad array of music software titles. These new models join the previously released and compact Axiom AIR Mini 32.
Unlike other keyboard controllers that include trial and demo versions of music software, M-Audio’s strong partnerships with AIR Music Technology and Avid® allow each Axiom AIR 61, 49 and 25 model to come complete with two exclusive and complementary music creation applications: Ignite by AIR and Pro Tools® Express from Avid.
By removing many of the hurdles associated with computer-based music-making, Ignite delivers the most streamlined means to quickly capture your best musical ideas. According to AIR Product Manager Samara Winterfeld, 'Ignite was designed from the ground up to provide instant integration and controller mapping with Axiom AIR and every M-Audio keyboard. This is one less thing a musician has to worry about when inspiration strikes.'
From Ignite, musical ideas can be easily migrated to the included copy of Avid Pro Tools Express, providing customers with access to the production capabilities of the industry- leading DAW software. Avid Pro Tools Express includes the required iLok USB key—a $49.99 retail value.
The bold white and brushed metal design of the Axiom AIR series features many aesthetic and ergonomic enhancements not found in previous generations of controllers. These features include illuminated knob and pad controls, angled backlit display, longer- throw faders, and clearance under the body providing a path for cabling, keeping studio and workspace tidy.
Pitch bend and modulation wheels allow for spontaneous expression, while octave/transpose buttons allow the keyboard to cover the entire note range, in any key. In addition to measuring how hard you strike, the pads also respond to pressure for enhanced control. Both keys and pads feature a wide range of touch curves to match any playing style.
The pads, buttons, and rotary encoder knobs feature three banks of controller assignments; the current bank is indicated by tri-color illumination. All controllerassignments can be freely made from the front panel and easily identified using the dedicated Identify button. The unique Pad Learn function makes it easy to assign instrument sounds to pads. Best yet, each Axiom AIR model features M-Audio’s HyperControl to automatically map the controllers to popular recording software and virtual instrument titles.
Although all three Axiom AIR models share some family traits, each one is designed with a specific user in mind:
Axiom AIR 25
Ideal for the modern beat-making musician, the Axiom AIR 25 offers a generous 16 pads and 25 synth-action keys—with aftertouch. Assignable controls include 8 rotary encoder knobs and 1 long-throw 70mm fader.
Axiom AIR 49
Balancing size and features to satisfy a broad range of players and composers, the Axiom AIR 49 features 12 pads and 49 synth-action keys—with aftertouch. Assignable controls include 8 rotary encoder knobs, 9 buttons, and 9 long-throw 70mm faders.

Wolfgang Palm's PPG WaveMapper for iPad Now Available
WaveMapper - Wolfgang Palm
"PPG WaveMapper is the second next-generation iOS based synth from Wolfgang Palm, who in 2012 released the PPG WaveGenerator to critical acclaim from both press and public. In final development the PPG WaveMapper offers iPad users a second synthesiser to compliment the already loved PPG WaveGenerator from Wolfgang Palm. PPG WaveMapper allows the user the opportunity to create limitless sounds from this unique and powerful new technology.
PPG WaveMapper features the Sound Map, which maps the various sounds in a way to easily access and experiment with them, more importantly the PPG WaveMapper features a new synthesis system which maps the waveforms of a sound into a new kind of wavetable which preserves the sound characteristics better than classic Wavetable synthesis and at the same time allows for the manipulations which make WT synthesis so unique.
The Mapping window is the visualisation of a pool of programs on which “modules” float. Those modules represent certain parameters of the synthesiser engine and each module can be placed on one of 32 programs. The moment an item is placed on map then the parameters of that module will take on the settings of those parameters in the underlying program on the Mapping window.
People who do not posses synth-programming skills can use this mapping technology as a starting point to create complex sounds. For example a user can drag a string sound source onto a drum envelope, or a guitar sound onto a string envelope – the concept is simple, yet incredibly powerful.Power users can delve deep into the back end of any sound using a full set of professional features;
▪New Sound map concept – create new sounds playful and experimental
▪3 types of synthesis – the optimal type for kind of each sounds
▪Classic wavetables – for the typical PPG sounds
▪Time compressed samples – more authentic sounds, allowing analysis of user samples
▪Pure samples – classic sample playback Analyzer – convert your own samples into the new format or into wavetables
▪3 oscillators capable for totally independent sound sources
▪90 sound resources – a huge sound palette, from real instruments to abstract wavetables
▪4 parameter editor pages – comfortable and detailed access to all the parameters
▪3 Noise generators, for audio and modulations
▪Ringmodulator
▪Classic 24 dB Lowpass Filter, combined with an overdrive simulation.
▪Dual amplifier, for versatile control of 2 audio signals as well as panning.
▪13 Envelopes, for independent control of pitch, waveform, filter and noise
▪gain and panning
▪4 LFOs – with 5 waveforms
▪Delay/Reverb effect
▪Flexible Step Sequencer / Arpeggiator combination
▪Schematic touch keyboard – Build your own keyboard, with the keys you prefer for your music.
▪Powerful sound browser – sorting by category, bank management
▪Virtual and Hard-MIDI in/out – sending/receiving keys and controllers.
▪Audiobus support.
▪10 min audio recording and Audio copy.

What is an iKeyDOCK?
YouTube via musiccomputing | December 11, 2010 | 1 likes, 0 dislikes
www.MusicComputing.com
iKeyDOCK™ keyboard production station docks are a refreshing new take on music production. They instantly turn any laptop computer into a full-blown keyboard production station.
What is a Keyboard Production Station? Keyboard production stations can be loosely defined as keyboard workstations that are connected to a computer, which is needed to provide additional processing power and features. While keyboard workstations are suited for live performance and sketching out ideas for a song, keyboard production stations, with built in high-power computer cores, allow users to go from composition to recording to mixing and finally mastering of songs that are ready for radio or direct Internet distribution.
Tailored for Macs® but great with PC's too: iKeyDOCKs are tailored for Apple® MacBook® Pros and will accommodate 13" models up to 17" models. Built with high-quality anodized aluminum, the finish matches nicely with the Apple MacBook, iPad® as well as the iPhone® 4. However, iKeyDOCKs are equally striking with virtually any other brand of laptop computer, no matter what the color and finish may be.
Easy to install and use: To use the iKeyDOCK, simply place the laptop computer into the dock platform, connect either two (2) USB cables, or one (1) USB and one (1) Firewire cable (depending on audio i/o option) and you're ready to go. It's just that easy.
More Keys: iKeyDOCKs are available in 61-key and an 88-key versions, perfect for live or studio use. The velocity-sensitive, semi-weighted, synth-action keys are professional in feel and ultra roadworthy. Pitch and Mod wheels as well as octave up and down buttons with indicators are included to complete the playing experience.
Controls with Feedback: Built into each iKeyDOCK are Music Computing's ControlDAW™ midi controller and GeoMIDI™ midi mapping software. ControlDaw presents the user with four (4) banks of eight (8) plus one (1) master channel strips each with three (3) mappable encoders with LED indicator light rings, one (1) knobs for panning, solo and mute buttons and a high-quality fader. An 8X8 grid of lighted pads (64 total) is also provided that can be used as drum trigger pads, a Monome (with appropriate software) or as a trigger pad for sequences, etc. Controls for note-repeat enabled software and transport buttons are included as well as real-time feedback between the controllers and software making ControlDAW the ultimate midi controller for music production.
Hear the Difference: The standard configuration for iKeyDOCK include a 24bit-48 kHz audio I/O with two (2) combo XLR & ¼" mic/instrument 48V phantom power inputs, two (2) balanced outputs and a stereo headphone jack. The optional upgrade gives you a 24bit-96 kHz audio I/O with two (2) combo XLR & ¼" mic/instrument 48V phantom power inputs, six (6) ¼" balanced inputs (line-level), two balanced outputs and a stereo headphone jack. StudioBlades also offer Firewire ports in the event outboard audio I/O or other Firewire devices are needed.
Play That Sample: Music Computing's TriggerGrid™, included with each ControlDAW, is a sample player that allows the user to trigger sampled sounds via controllers such as the ControlDAW or ControlPLAY™. Unlimited number of banks each containing sixty four (64) samples can be loaded and played. Per pad controls included: Frequency, Attack and Release, Gain, Pan and Reverse. Per pad wave editor allows for simple drag to trim/truncate samples. 16 -- audio outs for use in a DAW. File formats include: wave and mp3. Save feature allows all 64 pads to be saved as a kit. Unlimited number of kits can be saved that can be instantly loaded for playback. Simple drag and drop interface to populate pads.
MIDI map presets: Music Computing's GeoMIDI™ MIDI mapping software provides an interface for changing the MIDI assignments of the ControlDAW and ControlPlay's buttons, knobs, and sliders. Each slider or knob can send out a variety of combinations of control or pitch-bend data. An unlimited number of MIDI map presets can be created, saved and loaded for use.
Compact and light: Traditional production stations are big and heavy, by using the latest technologies and manufacturing processes, iKeyDOCK keyboard production stations docks are portable enough to go just about anywhere.
Ground-Breaking Value: In the past, keyboard production stations or keyboard workstations outfitted with external computers were relatively expensive, leaving the average person to only dream about owning one. Well-equipped iKeyDOCKs start at only $1,499, making them an affordable tool virtually any musician can afford.

M-Audio Venom Review and Interview with Product Manager Taiho Yamada
A quick note: This review is long. You can jump to sections that interest you vs. reading it straight through if you prefer. This review focuses primarily on the synth engine for one single patch on the Venom. The Venom supports Multi mode with up to four multitimbral parts. Not only can you layer sound programs but you can set global parameters for the set. Be sure to see the Multi mode section of "Tips and Tricks via Taiho Yamada" at the end of this post. Taiho is the Lead Project Manager of the Venom and served as my contact during the review. I want to thank Taiho for his help and enthusiastic generosity. He is a true synthesist and the Venom is his baby.
Synth connections: Taiho previously worked at Alesis on the Andromeda A6. The DSP developer of the Venom worked on Radikal Technologies' Spectralis and the Accelerator. People that contributed to the presets via sound design include Richard Devine, Francis Preve, Mark Ovenden (Avid's AIR Instruments, ProTools VIs), Joerg Huettner (Waldorf, Access, Alesis), and of course Taiho Yamada.
*Don't miss the "Q&A with Taiho" section towards the end of the review. Also keep an eye out for "Taiho's Tips and Tricks" throughout the review in grey. You can find the consolidated list below the Q&A section.

Meet the M0SS 101 Synthesizer by Andrew John March
M0SS 101 DEMO video upload by Andrew March
"A quick demonstration on how to build a patch with the M0SS-101 synthesizer."
From the creator of WVR, the the M0SS 101 virtual analog monosynth is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.
"M0SS-101 is a virtual analog monosynth built for a pure, hands-on subtractive synthesis, packed into a compact, rugged guitar pedal enclosure.
With 26 buttons and a single encoder, M0SS-101 gives you intuitive access to a deep 42-parameter virtual analog synthesis engine. Press a button to select a parameter, turn the encoder to modify it, and monitor your signal flow via the LED system.
Using a MIDI controller, you can map any parameter via simple MIDI learn, making it easy to integrate into your setup. Up to 17 presets can be saved and recalled for quick access to your favourite sounds.
The 26 RGB LEDs use colour and brightness to represent signal flow, modulation paths, settings and selections. A separate row of 11 LEDs at the bottom gives you instant visual feedback on the currently selected parameter. I aim to offer an affordable, compact, and versatile instrument, without sacrificing features, ergonomics, or most importantly, fun. I hope you'll enjoy playing this synth as much as I have :'-)"

Dave Smith Instruments Introduces DSM03 Feedback Module
via Dave Smith Instruments
"Third Eurorack Module for Modular Systems Now Available from Acclaimed Synth Designer
San Francisco, CA—October 13, 2016—Dave Smith Instruments today introduced the DSM03 Feedback Module, their third offering for modular synthesizers. At the heart of the Eurorack-format module is a tuned feedback line with adjustable parameters for Amount and Tuning. It also features a newly-designed, resonant, low-pass filter for further signal processing. A noise source is also provided with Trigger In as well as Attack and Decay envelope controls to allow Karplus-Strong-type plucked string synthesis.
According to Dave Smith: “We adapted the feedback feature originally found in our Evolver, Pro 2, and Prophet 12 synths. The idea is that you have a tuned feedback loop that takes the audio output, runs it back through the filter, then through a delay line so you can perform Karplus-Strong synthesis—or just use it for mangling sounds.”
With regard to the filter, Smith added: “The 4-pole, resonant, lowpass filter is a new digital design, based partially on classic analog filters of the past, but with over-sampling and numerous tweaks in the signal path. There was no attempt to copy or duplicate a specific, existing filter. We simply wanted to provide a great-sounding design that works well both in the feedback context and as a stand-alone tone-shaping tool.”
The DSM03 module is a 10HP wide, standard Eurorack-format device with interconnections made using 3.5 mm phone jacks. A set of inputs allow individual voltage control of feedback amount, tuning, low-pass filter frequency, and filter resonance. The module provides one audio input and one audio output as well as an audio trigger input for the noise source. The digital filter’s signal path provides full 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution for superior audio fidelity.
Said Smith: “When it comes to designing our modules, we like to provide things that are slightly esoteric, but still fundamental to the Dave Smith sound. Tuned feedback has been a part of the tonal palette of our synthesizers since the Evolver, so we wanted modular users to have access to it, too. It offers a lot of really fun, creative possibilites.”
The DSM03 module is available now with a MAP of $275."
