Some tips used here:

TR6S (DRUMS): I used the 'KIT KNOB RELOAD' feature to get back to the big drum sounds as it was saved in the kit (I previously moved the knobs to pitch up/down and reduce the decay of all the sounds for the intro)

TR6S (DRUMS): the VINYL SIM effect is used on the TR6S' master bus to heavily compress the DRUMS

TR6S (DRUMS): I used the internal LFO to modulate a few parameters on the DRUM tracks to add some subtle variations

KEYSTEP PRO (Sequencer): I used the Chain feature to chain 2 patterns in order to have an 8-bar pattern for the ARP sequences

KEYSTEP PRO (Sequencer): I used the Scene feature to load different patterns and mutes in one time (to switch to the bridge for example)"

The first cabinet is a Roland System-700 Lab is one of the rarest and most sought-after modular synthesizers ever built. San Francisco, CA — November 6, 2025— Sequential today announced a major OS update for its popular Take 5 polyphonic synthesizer, delivering powerful new features that expand its creative capabilities. This update is free for all Take 5 owners and is available now from the Sequential website.

The centerpiece of the update is Poly Chain, which allows two Take 5s to be linked for a fully integrated 10-voice instrument. This means players can perform bigger chords and more complex arrangements without worrying about voice stealing. "An excellent condition vintage Arp 2600 semi-modular which contains the sought after (and so-called) pre-lawsuit Moog 4012 style filter. This instrument is at least 50 years old (built between 1972 to 1974) looks beautifully vintage and sounds absolutely amazing.
A full service was carried out by Kent Spong at KSR in July 2024.

Some of the casing has been re-tolexed very well. Both lids are included, and everything is in very good cosmetic condition."

"I toyed for some time with the idea of titling this video: "To a Mouse, on Turning Her Up in Her Nest With the Plough". Which is the title of the 1785 poem by Robert Burns. Supposedly Burns was ploughing his field in Scotland when he accidently destroyed a mouse nest; was full of remorse for 'little Mousie' who now faced a disastrous Winter; and composed this rather lengthy poem while standing in the field.

It contains the verse:

But, Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain;
The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
For promis'd joy!

The key line of which has been popularized as "The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray". Which, it can finally be revealed, was my resigned feeling when rendering this video, and which led to the impulse for the silly title. In the end I decided against this title assuming algorithms don't appreciate obtuse connections by mood.

The plan was to string together a good half dozen Arp-driven Syncussion noodles with long stretches of blather about the Midicake Arp settings. After putting most of that together the only part I really enjoyed was one of the darker pieces, so that's the video. At least I learned a little about Robert Burns. It's worth another few minutes of your time to read something of his life, it's fascinating.

Here the Syncussion is in Mode 2 which means the pitch is controlled via MIDI. At times the Arp is also modulating the only other available MIDI parameter which is decay. The two leftside Arp channels control the left-side Syncussion voice; and the two right channels of the Arp control the right voice.

A pedal I bought used many months ago 'Gallows in the Morning' is on the left channel, and a delay on the right. Gallows is a drive and reverb combo pedal. Meh. The reverb is OK but the drive is pretty gutless and has an odd crackle to it. Mode B I never used because it just sucked the entire bottom end away. But it looks good, has a big light, and a nice gloomy name.

In other news I recently had to endure a few days here without my Fab Knocker. Lord, what an agony. So my thanks again to my loyal handful of Patrons. I detest ads.

In reaching this far I thankyou, it's good we can share these little interludes of irrelevancy.

💡 To import presets, connect the MicroKorg 2 to your computer via USB and set the synthesizer to USB Mass Storage mode (press and hold the Function 1 button while powering on the unit—this is the left/first button below the display).
The storage contains a "programs" folder. Locate the user presets—their names start with the letter "U". Delete all 64 user presets: from U_A1 to U_H8 (or back them up to a folder on your computer).
Copy the files from the "programs" folder in the downloaded soundset and paste them into the "programs" folder in the Mass Storage.
Once completed, eject the USB drive and exit USB Mass Storage mode (Function 5 button).
The synthesizer will restart automatically.
I added pads to the demo. They are not included in the soundset."

The ARP 1613 sequencer output A controls the Metasonix R-52 sweep CV in, which creates the high resonant rasp on the reversed quarter notes. The R-52 runs into the R-53, which adds the pitch to the R-52 rasp, then through the R-51, controlled by the MFB dual ADSR, gated by the ARP 1613 gate bus 3.
