It's Only Noise - Random Percussion with Sample & Hold, No Sequencer...just for fun #eurorack

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"Messing about with noise and random voltages. This patch is just various noise sources through various filters, frequency-modulated by sample & hold, with envelopes controlling amplitude (VCA) or affecting filter frequency. No sequencer was harmed in the making of this video.

The ‪@solidstatelogic‬ BigSix is used to mix all 4 sounds, with the ‪@vermonagear‬ DSR-3 providing stereo spring reverb for the drone and occasional sound.

Video & performance by ‪@DreamsOfWires‬

Patch Breakdown:

Drone: This is just pink noise going into the FIXED FILTER BANK 914, but with an LFO from the DUAL RVG modulating the mix between the left and right bands of the Filter Bank, creating that slow, breathing effect. The AJH SYNTH 914 has built-in, voltage-controllable mixing/cross-fading functionality, which wasn't present in the original Moog 914 on which it is closely based.

Percussion 1: White noise going to the SONIC XV Diode Ladder Filter, using its band pass output. One channel of the DUAL RVG is sending random voltages to the Sonic's Filter Frequency/Cutoff, whilst a DH-ADSR envelope generator controls its audio level in the TRIPLE CROSS (being used as a triple VCA).

Percussion 2: This starts with noise generated by the LUNAR MODULE - this has 2 noise sources with different character and tone control, and built-in distortion. Its output goes to the MATRIX VCF, which has 16 different filter modes, which I cycle through manually during the video. See out User Guide video for more information: • NEW MODULE! MATRIX VCF User Guide - Vintag...

Occasional Sound: Here I'm using the SAMPLE & HOLD module to randomly trigger the MULTI BURST ENVELOPS module. The Colour control on the Sample & Hold determines the range of random voltages generated. It is a combination of Low Pass and High Pass filter over the onboard noise that is used to derive the voltages, so turning it anti-clockwise from the centre acts as a low pass filter, reducing voltages produced to be in the lower range, whereas turning it clockwise of the centre position acts as a high pass filter, meaning voltages in the higher range. Since it is generating lower voltages here, it is only occasionally producing enough of a voltage change to trigger the Multi Burst Envelopes. If I raise the Colour control it will trigger more often.
The Multi Burst Envelopes produces a chosen number of bursts of the selected envelope shape. The built-in LFO controls the speed of the bursts, as does the Clock input, but both can be used together or independently. I'm using it to control the frequency of the ENTROPIC DOOM's low pass filter, to generate an occasional burst of filtered noise."

JMT SYNTH / SRV-1b

video upload by beatsville store

https://beatsville.jp

A desktop spring reverb unit featuring a built-in miniature spring.

You can use its high-quality, authentic spring to achieve a beautiful, classic reverb—or you can dive headfirst into the lush, vibrant resonance of a wildly oscillating spring, letting yourself drift and drown in its saturated wetness. It gets absolutely drenched.

And while nobody explicitly told you to shake it, smack it around, or slam it against the table... well, naturally, you’re going to do it. After all, there’s a real spring inside that actually shakes! It’s the thrill of the authentic.

Mix the clean-boosted signal (GAIN) with the spring-reverb-processed signal (REVERB), then adjust the overall output volume using the LEVEL control.

When the switch is in the down position, the signal bypasses the effect, passing directly from IN to OUT. The LED illuminates when the effect is active.

*Powered by a DC 9V power adapter (center-negative / Tip = -); sold separately.

Starsky Carr's Studio: Vintage & Modern Synth Setup Explained

video upload by Starsky Carr

"Welcome to a full synth studio tour — a look inside my hardware setup featuring vintage analog synths, modern wavetable instruments, modular gear and classic drum machines.

See how a mix of vintage synths, modern instruments, modular gear and drum machines all come together in one integrated setup. In this video I walk through the studio, explain how everything is connected, and show some of the instruments that regularly appear on the channel.

The studio is constantly evolving as new synths arrive, others get repaired, and different setups are tested for videos. In this walkthrough you'll see how classic gear like the Juno-60, Prophet series, Minimoog, TR-808, TR-909 and Jupiter synths sit alongside modern instruments such as the UDO Super 8, Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave, Waldorf M, Arturia PolyBrute and Roland System-8.

I also explain how everything is routed through the studio — from CV-controlled vintage synths integrated with MIDI, to the AudioFuse interface and Neve summing mixer that handle the audio side of things.

If you've ever wondered how to organise a hardware synth studio, integrate vintage CV instruments with modern DAWs, or just want to see a room full of iconic synths and drum machines, this video gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the setup behind the channel.

You’ll also hear a few stories along the way — including the slightly ridiculous “six degrees of separation” link from my studio gear to Charlize Theron and Kevin Bacon through the Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels soundtrack.

Whether you're into analog synthesis, wavetable synths, modular gear, or classic drum machines, this studio tour is packed with gear, ideas and inspiration.

SISTERS - Ambient session #29 // Mannequins Three Sisters, Arbhar, Panharmonium, Subharmonicon

video upload by David Falcon

"First sounds with the Mannequins Sisters, such an interesting little module. In its core is a triple filter (Hi, Low and Band Pass) but it works great as an spectral mixer. I am slowly modulating the frequency cutoff so that the different sounds come and go progressively. Very little resonance added, it can be very resonant!

// Patch Notes //
Voice 1- Arbhar recording of my voice and ambient sounds with the internal microphone. High input of Sisters.
Voice 2 - Maths Tom sound into Rings. Center of Sisters.
Voice 3 - Panharmonium with a Random sequence from Pams into the Low input of Sisters.
These 3 voices go into the Xaoc Praga mixer, with Mimeophon and FX Aid in the sends. I am modulating the volume and panof
Voice 2 from Øchd and Pams, and the panning of Arbhar from Pams too. The mix goes through Qubit Mojave for the occasional reversed granular bleep.
Voice 4 - Subharmonicon through Blooper as a delay and Mercury 7 as Reverb.
Voice 5 - Low kick from DFAM

Recorded in a single stereo mix and mastered in Ableton."

Sequential 02 : Oberheim OB-6 Sound Demo : " Massive Mod " user bank preview by I.H.R

video upload by I Hate Robots

"Sequential Oberheim OB-6 (module) - sound demo of few user programs, this is not a jam, and the video is a loop, not in realtime.

00:00 Duality
04:20 X-Rhodes
08:15 Gate 1
10:05 Lux
12:15 Alien 1
14:06 Sun
15:10 Coma
17:02 Gate 2
18:22 Nop
19:31 Dark Phaz
22:40 Omniarp
25:00 Alien 2
26:25 Berlin Mod
29:35 Crispy Pad

In practical terms, the OB-6 (keyboard or module version) is a modern and refined embodiment of all the experience and expertise of Dave Smith (Sequential) and Tom Oberheim. Its sound engine sits somewhere between the Sequential Prophet-6 and the Oberheim OB-Xa; it's essentially a fusion of the two!

It's high-end, old-school analog in the purest tradition—the sound is big, fat, deep, and powerful—but with modern digital assistance that allows it to fully exploit its capabilities and push its boundaries.

This is precisely the subject and purpose of this preset bank, which I designed entirely myself.

This is my main OB-6 bank, which I use very often for my sound design work in the studio or for my training sessions. User Bank #3 (Massive Mod), it contains a total of 96 custom presets. I'm not presenting them all here, the demo would have been far too long, but I've prepared this short demo with a few of them to give you a sonic preview of the synth and its modulation capabilities!
Sometimes I use a single preset with its modulations, either played directly on the keyboard or sequenced with a keyboard layer on top, and other times I mix two presets together (the OB-6 is monotimbral).

Everything you hear comes from the OB-6; there are no added effects, no post-production processing !

XAOC Devices Kamieniec II Phaser and Allpass Expansion Review

video upload by Molten Music Technology

"KAMIENIEC II
ANALOG RESONANT PHASE ROTATOR

ALLPASS EXTENSION

MODELS OF 1977

Introducing two new Xaoc Devices products: Kamieniec II and its Allpass Expansion sidekick. Kamieniec II is an updated and extended revision of Kamieniec - our analog module inspired by a range of classic phaser effect units from the 1970s. We aimed to preserve the classic sound while making Kamieniec versatile enough to shine with any modular sound source. The newly released module shares the basic specifications with its predecessor: 4 and 6-stage outputs, built in triangle LFO (with a separate output in the true modular spirit), manual resonance control (up to extremely high values), and spicy feedback routing modes. On the other hand, Kamieniec II is a truly new beast with redesigned circuitry and new features, such as voltage control over resonance, a third feedback mode, and an LFO reset input. We have retained the chaining feature and we are glad to say Kamieniec II is fully compatible with the original Kamieniec, so you can easily mix and match both generations of the module should you develop a craving for more stages.

Want even more stages without sacrificing precious HP in your case? We've got you covered. Enter the Allpass Expansion - an optional circuit board installed at the back of Kamieniec II. It adds up to 16 sweepable stages for a total of 22 (!), making Kamieniec II one of the most multidimensional and versatile analog phasers available in Eurorack.

Oh, and one last thing - Kamieniec II is 10HP.

Crazy Chicken Modular SHRIMPY filter musical demonstration

video upload by Fedir Tkachov Music

"Musical exploration of new eurorack filter by Crazy Chicken Modular - SHRIMPY."

Shrimpy is a fully analog multimode voltage-controlled filter with three simultaneous audio outputs: low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass. It was designed with a strong focus on character rather than neutrality.

The resonance is voiced to emphasize midrange frequencies, giving the filter a present, expressive tone that cuts through a mix. At higher settings, it becomes vivid and assertive without collapsing into thinness.

At the heart of Shrimpy lies an unusual distortion chain integrated directly into the filter core. This distortion adds a pleasant crunch, enriching the sound. When pushed further, it can turn glitchy and rustling, introducing rough textures and unstable edges that make the filter feel alive. It should be noted that the distortion sound characteristics will depend on the Shrimpy settings and the input signal, since distortion occurs in the filter core itself, rather than at its input or output.

All parameters are fully voltage-controllable:
Cutoff frequency (with and without attenuator)
Resonance
Distortion amount

This makes Shrimpy a flexible yet opinionated sound processing tool, well suited for experimental patches, aggressive basses, textured leads, drones, and evolving soundscapes."

Drum Machine plugin preset for Decent Sampler (MaskinTrommer)

video upload by Benjamin Dehli

"MaskinTrommer is a drum sample library for Decent Sampler, featuring electronic drum sounds created from analog synthesizers. Each drum type contains multiple samples per sound to eliminate the typical 'machine gun' effect associated with digital sample based drum machines.

The drum sounds were created using:
Korg MS-20
Roland SH-09
Doepfer Dark Energy
Sequential Circuits Pro-One
The result is a versatile collection of synthetic kicks, snares, hi-hats, cymbals, and toms with a broad tonal range, from tight and percussive to big and sustaining.

User Interface:
The interface is divided into two main areas
Left section: Individual drum controls and sample mixer
Right section: Global settings and effects
The keyboard at the bottom is color-coded to match each drum section, making it easy to identify the mapping.

Drum Settings
The top row of knobs in each drum section controls the primary sound-shaping parameters.

Pitch (Kick & Snare):
Adjusts the tuning of the drum.
Turning clockwise raises the pitch.
Turning counterclockwise lowers the pitch.
Affects both sample types for the kick and the "body" samples for the snare.

Sustain (Snare, Hi-Hat, Cymbal, Tom):
Controls which sustain-length samples are triggered.
For snare and tom, it only affects the "head" samples.
Lower values select shorter, tighter sounds.
Higher values select longer sustaining samples.
Dyn (Dynamic) mode:
Higher MIDI velocity → longer sustaining samples
Lower MIDI velocity → shorter sustaining samples

This allows expressive control directly from performance dynamics.

Drum Mixer
The second and third rows of knobs in each drum section form the sample mixer.
Each knob controls the volume of a specific sample type for that drum.
The knob design visually represents which synthesizer the samples originate from.

Sample Type Blending:
You can blend multiple synthesizer sources for a single drum.
Each active source contributes its own round robin variations.
Combining sources dramatically increases variation and complexity.

Display Indicators:
Some mixer knobs include a small display.
The display shows how the samples assigned to that knob are influenced by either pitch (kick & snare) or sustain (snare, hi-hat, cymbal & tom).
This provides quick visual feedback when shaping the sound.

Global Settings
Located in the rightmost section.

Sensitivity:
Controls how strongly MIDI velocity affects sample volume.
Lower values → More consistent volume regardless of velocity
Higher values → Greater dynamic range
This allows you to tailor the instrument to your playing style or sequencing needs.

Global Effects
Impact:
Controls the level of the transient (initial attack) relative to the sustain portion.
Higher values → Louder attack, quieter sustain
Lower values → More even balance between attack and body
This is useful for tightening drums or making them cut through a mix.

Saturation:
A volume-compensated overdrive/distortion effect.
Adds harmonic content and edge.
Maintains perceived loudness while increasing intensity.
Suitable for subtle coloration or more aggressive processing.

Keyboard Layout
The on-screen keyboard is color-coded to match the drum sections:
Kick (pink): C1
Snare (blue): D1
Closed hi-hat (green): E1
Open hi-hat (green): F1
Cymbal (yellow): G1
