"The Shakmat Lancer’s Lash might be the only snare module you’ll ever need.

It features seven completely different synthesis models — Analog, Slap, Modal, Physical, FM, Granular, and Blend — covering everything from classic electronic snares to metallic hits, resonant percussion, noisy textures, and some seriously weird stuff.

For this video, I decided not to spend a ton of time talking about specs. Instead, I programmed seven different jams — one for each model — to give you a chance to actually hear what Lancer’s Lash can do in a patch.

"The Lancer’s Lash is a dedicated snare drum synthesizer built to cover everything from tight classic hits to completely off-the-map percussion. Compact and focused, it explores several approaches to snare synthesis, giving you a wide palette of strikes, from clean and punchy to fractured and experimental.

Multiple models sit at the core of the module, ranging from analog-style synthesis to physical modeling, granular textures, and FM percussion. Each engine brings its own character, letting you dial anything from familiar drum machine snaps to strange metallic bursts and evolving hybrid snares.

To keep patterns alive, Lancer’s Lash includes an onboard randomizer for subtle variations or more adventurous rhythmic outcomes. Velocity sensitivity adds expressive dynamics, while 256 preset slots keep your favorite strikes ready to fire again via CV or Select Bus.

"A new gathering dedicated to electronic lutherie, modular culture and musical experimentation is coming to Brussels this June.

Hosted by Shakmat & Beatsurfing and WAMM, the event will bring together more than 30 instrument makers, artists and performers for a full day of exhibitions, workshops, talks, DIY activities and live performances.

More than a traditional trade show, WAMM aims to create a space where electronic instruments are approached as living tools for artistic expression, experimentation and community building.

The program includes:
— a large exhibition space featuring independent synth and modular makers
— workshops around DIY electronics and VCV Rack

"Today I'm happy to show you some stuff with the Bishop's Miscellany MK2 by Shakmat Modular.

This marvelou thing can record AND generate AND remix control voltages and gate on two idenpendant channel with access to almost everything as control voltage destination.
But above all it's a playable module (even tho there is a bunch of menu to travel to to set it up as you like) that you can use to make very precise things or find inspiration and new ideas on the fly.
I don't use some of it's most deep features so I won't talk about them but just with the bascis you can go pretty far already.

"Superbooth is around the corner and I’m happy to finally unveil the prototype we’re going to show this year.

The Queen’s Court is a new kind of stereo matrix mixer, combining a fully analog signal path with deep digital control — and removing the need for external modulation. Designed for performance as much as for studio work, it brings hands-on control, internal modulation, and preset morphing into a single, cohesive instrument.

At its core, The Queen’s Court offers 4 stereo inputs (configurable as stereo or dual mono), 3 auxiliary stereo inputs, and 4 stereo outputs — all freely routable within a flexible matrix and it embeds modulation directly into the routing structure.

The Queen’s Court integrates 36 internal modulators directly into the matrix.

Per-input panning with LFO-based autopanning
Per-routing-point bipolar envelopes, triggerable via CV or extracted from audio signals
Integrated LFOs on each routing point, with sine and random waveforms, clock-syncable
This enables advanced behaviors such as internal sidechaining, dynamic routing, and animated spatial movement — without relying on external modules.

Designed with an open-ended philosophy, The Queen’s Court can function as:

a self-contained matrix mixer
a performance mixer
a feedback processor
a routing hub for audio and CV
Oh and the system can also be expanded with up to two expanders, increasing the total to:
8 stereo inputs
5 auxiliary stereo inputs
4 outputs
8 CV inputs"

"Turing machines are generative sequencers that create looped melodies that slowly evolve and change over time, perfect for techno. I'm using the Shroud of Turing from Flatsix Modular in my compact techno setup. It's a 1U turing machine with clever features like user-defined scales and the ability to save different scales to play. I'm using it with Shakmat Ballista Blast as the main voice . Ohmforce Bohm is the main kick and I play it against Shakmat Battering Ram for dual-kick fun."

"I used to think a bigger setup meant more options meant better music. Turns out the opposite is true, at least for me.

For a while my live rig was getting more complex every time I played it. More modules, more flexibility, more things to manage. And instead of playing, I was troubleshooting. So I stripped it back.

In this video I walk through the portable techno case I built for live performance; what made the cut, what didn't, and why having fewer options actually made me more focused and more musical on stage.

It can do SO MANY THINGS, and do them AMAZINGLY, but I thought I'd focus on six sound design examples, so we can zoom in on a few core engines and all the various sounds you can get from those engines.
