Euclid (Waldorf M + H90 // 0Coast + Timeline // Nymphes + Julianna // TR6S // Hapax)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I am continuing my deeper exploration of the vast possibilities offered by the Hapax ๐Ÿคฉ

In this jam I loaded on the Hapax, the "definition files" for the Nymphes and TR-6S, and I have to say that it really opens up the possibilities to easily automate or modulate parameters on the synths (used for example here to modulate the pitch of some drum sounds or to add the noise oscillator of the Nymphes on some notes only etc.)

0:00 - The track starts with the 0-Coast playing a syncopated bass line thanks to the EUCLID MIDI effect of the Hapax, and with the M playing the main RIFF.

0:36 - I then fade in the Nymphes playing the pulsating (thanks to an EUCLID MIDI effect too) detuned CHORDS thru the Julianna analog chorus pedal (adding the wide stereo effect).

0:55 - The drum parts are played by the TR-6S using only the Analog Circuit Behavior engine (i.e. no samples used) for the drum sounds, with its VINYL SIM effect on the master bus squashing the DRUMS! ๐Ÿค˜ Also, I didn't use the TR-6S' sequencer here but the Hapax, in order to be able to swap between different patterns on only one machine (Hapax) + to use the FILL button on the Hapax to add breaks on the DRUM track too + I used 2 LFOs on the Hapax to control parameters on the TR-6S (as the TR-6S only has 1 LFO ๐Ÿ˜…)

1:40 - Bridge (only M synth)

1:55 - 4 to the floor part

2:38 - Outro

All the transposition are done in real-time on the Hapax (using Track 16)."

Register ®️ (0-Coast + Timeline // Perfourmer + H90 // TR-6S // Nymphes // Squarp sequencer)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I really wanted to make use of a lot of MIDI effects of the Hapax hardware sequencer in this jam! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
So nearly all of the sequences you'll here coming from the 0-Coast, Perfourmer and Nymphes, have been recorded with very few notes.
The rhythmic and chords richness are mainly coming from the onboard MIDI effects. Thus:

๐ŸŽธ BASS (0-Coast):
The track starts with the 0-Coast playing a simple pattern, which gets a bit more complex when I add more PULSES on the EUCLID effect of the Hapax. There's also a RANDOM MIDI effect on this track which from time to time, transposes some notes to 1 or 2 octaves.

๐ŸŽถ ARP (Perfourmer):
The Perfourmer then gets introduced progressively, sequenced by Track 2 of the Hapax where actually, no notes where recorded! Every note you are hearing are being generated in real-time by the REGISTER MIDI effect. I also used the SCALER effect for the generated notes not to go out of scale ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐ŸŽน CHORD STABS (Nymphes):
I used the RANDOM + HARMO + SCALER MIDI effects here to transform the single notes recorded to the cool CHORD STABS!

๐Ÿฅ DRUMS (TR-6S):
The drum parts are played by the TR-6S using only the Analog Circuit Behavior engine (i.e. no samples used) for the drum sounds. I didn't use the TR-6S' sequencer here but the Hapax, in order to be able to swap between different patterns on only one machine (Hapax)."

New Room ☮️ (Vermona Perfourmer + H90 + Pill // Make Noise 0 Coast + Timeline // Squarp Hapax)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"In this jam, I didn't really want to set a time limit ๐Ÿ˜Š It's actually quite a simple setup with 2 synths (Perfourmer and 0-Coast) playing in monophonic and the TR-6S taking care of the DRUM parts (no samples used here, only the Roland's - ACB Analog Circuit Behavior - analog modeling engine).

I've used the individual outputs of the Perfourmer where the main outputs are playing voices 1&2 (BASS) and outputs of voices 3&4 are going into the H90 and Pill pedals. Even though the 4 voices are playing the same notes, voices 3&4 seems to play like a PAD especially when I enable the PITCHFUZZ effect of the H90!

As for the 0-Coast which is taking care of the PLUCKS, I did some patching mainly to add some variations (modulation of some parameters using the S&H LFO) on the sound."

Skyline ๐Ÿ•Š️ (Elektron Digitone + Pioneer Rmx-500 // Sequential Take 5 + Strymon Deco 2)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Just wanted to start 2025 with a very simple and smooth 2-Minute jam before moving on to more serious matters ๐Ÿ˜Š

In this jam, the Elektron Digitone is sequencing a couple of patterns playing mainly BELLS and CHIMES (with probability etc.). I'm using the RMX-500 remix station to add reverb (DOWN REVERB) and tremolo (TRANS) effects on the Digitone's output.

The BASS and LEAD part is being played in real-time on the Take 5, which is running through the Strymon Deco 2 pedal which is adding more character and fluctuations to the sound.

0:06 Playing with the REVERB DOWN knob
0:16 Take 5 real-time playing
0:56 Unmuting track 3 & 4 on the Digitone
1:16 Enabling the TRANS effect
1:44 Outro"

Last Pill ๐Ÿ’Š (Nymphes + Deco2 // S1 + H90 // Drumbrute Impact + H90 + Pill // Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Here's a long video to end 2024 on a high note! ๐Ÿ˜ If you want to skip the 'build from scratch', you can jump to 2:00 ๐Ÿ˜‰

3 instruments were used for this track:
The Dreadbox Nymphes for the CHORDS and LEAD
The Roland S-1 for the BASS
The Arturia Drumbrute Impact (DBI) for the DRUMS
With everything sequenced by the Arturia Keystep Pro (KSP).

1- The video starts with me recording in STEP mode 3 CHORDS, and setting the pattern's length to 3 steps (Track 3 of the KSP).
2- I then record 2 notes for a 3-step pattern for the BASS (Track 2 of the KSP).
3- I quickly switch to the DRUM pattern recording (Track 1 of the KSP), where I used some of the nice features of the KSP's sequencer (Time Shift, Randomness)
4- For the live performance, it's mainly me transposing in real-time on the KSP and playing with the sound parameters of the 3 instruments (Cutoff, Decay, Reverb etc.).

0:01 Recording the different parts
1:51 Build
2:06 Drop
2:36 Looper break
3:13 Full decay on the KICK
3:25 Opening the decay on the OPEN HIHAT
4:05 Outro"

Heaven ๐ŸŒ… (Elektron Digitone + Rmx500 // Roland JD08 // Sequential Take 5 + Deco 2)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Everything started with the FM DRUM pattern I made on the DIGITONE which is running through the Pioneer RMX-500 (adding fills, breaks etc.).

I used a lot if the cool features of the powerful DIGITONE's sequencer for this track, like probability (for DRUM sounds, PADS and BASS notes etc.), trig conditions, p-locks, note shift (the "accelerating" PLUCK notes for example) etc. ๐Ÿคฉ

It was also time to get the Sequential Take 5 (through the Strymon DECO v2) back on the desk for the fat BASS sound (sequenced by the DIGITONE).

I used the Roland JD-08 for the PLUCK sound (Part1) and PADS (Part2), both parts being sequenced by the DIGITONE too ๐Ÿ˜‰

00:00 RMX-500 filter build
00:36 The Drop with the BASS (Take5) and PADS (JD08)
01:22 RMX-500 Cymbal play
01:47 Digitone Drum fill
02:02 RMX-500 Cymbal roll
02:35 Outro"

Locks ๐Ÿ” (Elektron Digitone + Rmx500 // Korg Minilogue Xd + Strymon Deco // ARP2600m + Eventide H90)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"The center piece of this jam is the Elektron Digitone (fed into the Pioneer RMX-500 effect) which is playing the DRUM part + some FM synth sequences (a lot of automation/p-locks and probability sequencing used here ๐Ÿ˜‰) and sequencing with its 4 MIDI tracks, the bassline played by the Korg Arp 2600 M (through the Eventide H90).
The Korg Minilogue XD is being used in standalone mode here, sequencing and playing the CHORDS.

A few tricks featured here:
I used the 4 MIDI tracks of the Digitone to sequence the bassline on the ARP 2600 M. Thus each MIDI track is playing a different pattern, which makes it easy to switch between 4 patterns ;)
I used the ROLL effect of the RMX-500 to loop a part of the audio coming from the Digitone (which led to the four-on-the-floor part)
The Minilogue XD can only play one sequence per sound. I switched from the POLY mode (for the CHORD part) to the UNISON mode (for the LEAD part), giving the impression that 2 different sequences are being played consecutively."

Epic Bells ๐Ÿ”” (Hapax sequencing Nymphes + Bigsky // Minitaur // Tanzbar + Boum // Waldorf M v1.10)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"In this track, the Hapax is sequencing all 5 instruments: Nymphes + Bigsky reverb (PADS), Tanzbar + Boum warming unit (DRUMS), Minitaur (BASS), M (BELLS) and S-1 (PLUCK CHORDS).
I've used a few of the cool features of the Hapax as the FILL button, the MIDI effects (MIDI ECHO introduced in v2.0, RANDOMIZER, HARMONIZER...), step probabilities, CC automation etc.

It's also the first track featuring the M with the v1.10 firmware, and the Oto Machines - Boum effect ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ”ฅ!
I've been hesitating for a long time to get one as I already have the Elektron Analog Heat MKII ๐Ÿ˜Š But I really don't regret buying one finally as it can really modify the sound in a way that the Analog Heat can't (the Analog Heat doesn't really have a compressor, but it can be simulated using its internal envelope follower).

* Hardware used *

// PADS:Dreadbox Nymphes (6-voice analog synth) + Strymon Bigsky (reverb)
// DRUMS: MFB Tanzbar (16-voice analog drum machine) + Oto Machines Boum "Warming Unit" (stereo analog compressor, distortion, filter...)
// BASS: Moog Minitaur (analog mono synth)
// BELLS: Waldorf M (8-voice digital/analog hybrid synth)
// PLUCK CHORDS: Roland S-1 (4-voice digital synth, inspired by the famous mono synth SH-101)
// SEQUENCER: Squarp Instruments Hapax (firmware v2.0) sequencing all 5 instruments

Recorded in one shot and mixed in Ableton Live. A bit of chorus was added post recording on the BASS played by the Minitaur, in order to add more depth to the sound."

Sisters ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍❤️‍๐Ÿ‘ฉ (Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 + H9 // DRM-1 Mk4 + Bigsky + Lethargy // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"As I've been posting a couple of Youtube Shorts lately, I made this "very long" video this time (the longest one on the channel, other than the "Going live at home video" https://youtu.be/qgIxJwxzqlA ๐Ÿ˜Š).

For this one, I used 2 analog instruments (Perfourmer Mk2 and DRM-1 Mk4) sequenced by the Keystep Pro (KSP) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list....
I made heavy use of a lot of cool features of the KSP like: polymeter, randomness, step skip, looper, transposing within scale, scenes, individual drum mutes, quick toggle between 2 drum patterns (this one is a bit of a trick of mine) ๐Ÿคฉ

So the track starts with the KSP's Track 4 sequencing voices 3 & 4 of the Perfourmer (going through the H9 using its tape delay effect, where you can clearly hear the nostalgic "wow & flutter").

I then unmute the KICK and SNARE (played by the DRM-1) abd BASS (played by the Perfourmer, but going out DRY by its seperate audio output).

The other tracks are then unmuted and I start to transpose live the played sequences (you know I love this feature, right?).

Further on I use the KSP's "Scene" feature to load different patterns for the "chorus" part.
You can hear me playing with some parameters of the DRM-1's CLAP sound, which is going through the Dreadbox Lethargy analog phaser (using the DRM-1's handy insert jack!).
I also trigger manually a couple of times the MULTI voice of the DRM-1 (which is going through the Bigsky reverb), for the build etc.

The track then heads to a more "experimental" outro part consisting of 5 step patterns (where I shifted the analog phaser from the CLAP insert jack to the HIHAT2 insert jack).

* Hardware used *

// BASS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 Voice 1

// SYNTHS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 Voice 2, Voices 3&4 + Eventide H9 Max (tape delay) + Pill (ducking pedal, triggered by the KICK from DRM-1)

// DRUMS:
- Vermona DRM-1 Mk4 (8-voice analog drum synth) with Strymon Bigsky reverb (on the MULTI's output) and Dreadbox Lethargy analog phaser (on the CLAP's output in insert mode, then HIHAT2)

// SEQUENCER:
- Arturia Keystep Pro"

Brothers ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ‘ฆ‍๐Ÿ‘ฆ (Vermona DRM1 MKIV 8-voice analog drum synth // Perfourmer MKII + H9 + Bigsky + Pill)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"First video featuring the Vermona DRM-1 8-voice analog drum synth ๐Ÿ˜Š For a long time I've been stopping myself from getting one as I already have the MAM ADX-1 which is a bit an ancestor of this DRM-1! But the Vermona Perfourmer was feeling a bit lonely ๐Ÿ˜…

In this video, I decided to use my DAW to sequence both instruments as I wanted to be able to "play" the knobs on the instruments ๐Ÿ˜‰

The track starts with the BASS (Voice 1 of the Perfourmer) and PLUCK (Voice 3 panned left & voice 4 panned right, of the Perfourmer through the H9 reverb). Then comes the KICK (Voice 1 of the DRM1) which is going into the Pill ducking pedal to trigger it.
Afterwards arrives the LEAD (Voice 3 of the Perfourmer through the Bigsky reverb + Pill ducking pedal) and the 7 other voices of the DRM1 (wanted initially to use them through the Particle granular delay, but didn't have enough time to blend it in! ๐Ÿ˜…).

* Hardware used *

// BASS:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voice 1

// LEAD:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voice 2 + Strymon Bigsky (reverb) + Pill (ducking pedal)

// PLUCK:
- Vermona Perfourmer Voices 3&4 + Eventide H9 Max (reverb)

// DRUMS:
- Vermona DRM1 (8-voice analog drum synth)

Dimension ๐ŸŽฒ (Elektron Digitone + Particle + Deco // Korg Drumlogue // Sequential Take 5)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"This is the last video closing the trilogy featuring the Take 5 and Digitone! [previous videos below this one via this link]

The track begins with a sequence played by the Digitone (through the Particle granular delay which is being blended in from time to time on the intro + Deco tape saturation & doubletracker pedal effect).

Then the analog tracks of the Drumlogue are being unmuted, along with the BASS & LEAD which are being played live on the Take 5.

As often, I'm using only one pattern on the Digitone and one on the Drumlogue (but used a lot of automation, probability etc. to add variations)

Further on I switch to the LOOP mode on the Drumlogue in order to add some real time breaks."

Shuffle Trip ๐Ÿ”€ (Elektron Digitone + Particle + Deco // Korg Drumlogue // Sequential Take 5)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"This track starts with a PAD sound sequenced and played by the Elektron Digitone (Polyphonic Digital Synthesizer). I then enable the Doubletracker effect (on the Strymon Deco 2 tape simulation pedal) and unmute 2 other tracks on the Digitone, playing a LEAD and CHIMES sounds.

Enters the Korg Drumlogue (analog and digital drum machine) with some DRUMS (I used only one drum pattern where I made use of STEP probability to add some variations to the pattern).

And finally the BASS line played by the Sequential Take 5, sequenced by one MIDI track of the Digitone. In order to create this beefy dirty BASS sound, I use the onboard OVERDRIVE and DISTORTION effect of the synth! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿค˜ The BASS line is also playing in triplets to add an odd groove to the track (it wasn't so easy to program on the Digitone MIDI track as I needed to shift each notes off the grid manually ๐Ÿ˜…).

Hope you'll enjoy!"

Aureate ๐Ÿ“€ (Sequential Take 5 // Elektron Digitone + Red Panda Particle + Strymon Deco 2) Chords Jam

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"No sequencers were harmed during this recording! ๐Ÿ˜„ Just wanted to roam with some chords played live on the Take 5 analog synth. Further on I introduced the Digitone FM synth where I used 3 tracks (with 3 different sounds), where 2 of the tracks have their integrated ARPEGGIO enabled, with different settings in order to add some rhythmic complexity to the jam ๐Ÿฅ

The Digitone is being fed into the Particle 2 granular delay then the Deco pedal, in order to add random variations to the FM sounds and some kind of LO-FI vibes!

The MIDI Out of the Take 5 synth is triggering the Digitone. Hence both synths are playing the same notes. However the 2 ARPs on the Digitone help bring the syncopated sounds.

I think that the blending of the analog and digital synths here, makes the global sound and texture of this jam sound quite interesting! Hope you liked it too? ๐Ÿ˜Š

* Hardware used *

// PADS:
- Sequential Take 5 (5-voice analog synth)

// CHIMES:
- Elektron Digitone (8-voice FM groovebox) + Red Panda Particle 2 (granular delay and pitch shifter) + Strymon Deco 2 (tape saturation & doubletracker)"

Robust ๐Ÿฆธ‍♂️ (Roland TR6S Rhythm Performer // S1 Tweak Synth // J6 Chord Synth) Synthwave

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"In the wake of my previous video, here's a synthwave-like jam featuring the same 3 little boxes from Roland: the TR-6S (Drums), the S-1 (Bass) and the J-6 (Arp/Chords) ๐Ÿ˜‰

The track starts with a drum pattern from the TR-6S where I only used the TR-707 Analog Circuit Behavior engine (I.E. no static 707 samples), modeling the quirks and instabilities of the analog envelope and amplifier stages that came after the D/A converter ๐Ÿคฉ (the TR-707 was PCM based, but still had some randomness thanks to the analog part after the D/A converter).

I also used the DRIVE master effect of the TR-6S to add some dirt and energy (the DRIVE somehow also act like a compressor).

I recorded 3 DRUM patterns (2 main parts and 1 break) but as I used the probability, sub probability, parameter-lock features etc. the drum patterns seem to be longer than 1 bar!

Then come the BASS (played by the S-1, I recorded 4 patterns which are 4-bar long for this) and the ARP/CHORDS played by the J-6 (I decided not to sequence this instrument as I wanted to trigger it live and bring some organic fluctuations to the track ๐Ÿ˜Š).

For the sync part, the TR-6S is sending MIDI to the S-1, and the S-1 is sending analog clock to the J-6 (there was no need to start the J-6's sequencer as the ARP/CHORDS were triggered in real-time)."

Fragile ๐Ÿƒ (Roland TR-6S Rhythm Performer // S-1 Tweak Synth // J-6 Chord Synth)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Here's a 2x 2-Minute jam featuring 3 little boxes from Roland: the TR-6S (Drums), the S-1 (Bass and Arp) and the J-6 (Pads) ๐Ÿบ

I've recorded a few patterns of each of the 3 instruments which are being chained up live in this jam.

On the DRUMS side played by the TR6S, there is quite a lot going on: I mainly used the Analog Circuit Behavior and FM Engines for the drum sounds. I used a few of the real time performance tools available: STEP LOOP, FILL IN, MASTER FX (Fuzz). I also took advantage of the polymectri capabilities of the sequencer, where the KICK's sequence length is different from the rest of the pattern (on the first part, it's a 6-step sequence playing, and on the last part, a 5-step sequence ๐Ÿ˜‰).

For the BASS & ARP parts, I used the S1 (which fortunately is polyphonic ๐Ÿ˜ƒ). I also played with its integrated 'Riser' effect for the transitions.

I recorded 3 patterns on the J-6, among which the last one is being syncopated thanks its 'phrase type' feature (a bit like an arpeggiator effect). The J-6 is being synced to the S-1 by their analog clocks (through the translucent cable, where you can see a little red LED lightening up with each clock pulse coming into the J-6)."

From scratch - Needles ๐Ÿงต (Perfourmer Mk2 + Superego+ + H9 // Deco v2 // Simplifier Dlx // Hapax)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"This is a 'from scratch' jam featuring only one instrument, the Vermona Perfourmer Mk2, 4-voice analog synth. I've used its individual outputs for the BASS which is being saturated with the Deco v2 pedal, and LEAD through the Simplifier Dlx analog amp.
The PLUCK riff is being fed into the Superego Plus synth-freeze engine and H9 delay.

The PLUCK and BASS are being sequenced and the LEAD played live on the Hapax hardware sequencer.

I used the RANDOMIZER and SCALE MIDI effects of the Hapax in order to transpose occasionally and randomly the PLUCK (for the riff to be a bit more interesting ๐Ÿ˜Š).
The PLUCK is also being turned sometimes into a PAD when I activate (green button) the Superego+ pedal."

Fissure ๐Ÿ’” (Hapax 2.0 // Perfourmer Mk2 + H9 + Pill // TR6S // LXR02 // JU06 + Deco v2)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"February 2024, back to the 2-Minute format! (well actually it was a 4:30 jam with a bridge, an outro with different chords etc. but had to justify a bit the name of the channel I think ๐Ÿ˜…)

This jam is built around a 10-step pattern from the Hapax sequencing the Perfourmer (through the H9 reverb and Pill ducking pedal, triggered by a GATE track from the Hapax). To make this 10-step pattern which drives the whole track sound a bit more complex, I made it play with 3 different voices of the Perfourmer (this is one of the main reasons I bought a Perfourmer a few years ago!). Hence each note is playing a voice with a different oscillator. So it's a 10-step sequence where the oscillators are being played in round robin mode each 3 notes. To make it even more spicy, I also used the Hapax's real-time RANDOMIZER MIDI effect which is transposing some notes randomly!

For the PERCUSSIVE parts, we are in a more classic mode with the main DRUMS being played by the TR-6S and the secondary DRUMS by the LXR-02 (both still sequenced by the Hapax).

And the BASS, is being played by the JU-06A through the DECO v2 pedal."

Ram ♈ (Waldorf M + Analog Heat + Rooms + Pill // TR6S // Minitaur // S1 + Particle // Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"A 4-minute uptempo jam for the first video of 2024! ๐ŸŽ‰ May all your wishes come true this year!

The Arturia Keystep Pro (KSP) is sequencing:
- the PADS played by the Waldorf M through the Elektron Analog Heat MkII (using mainly its analog filter modulated by one of its LFO) + Rooms reverb + Pill ducking pedal (triggered by the kick from the TR-6S).
- the BASS played by the Moog Minitaur. I used the 'Chain' patterns of the KSP to make a long bass line.

The DRUMS are being sequenced/played by the Roland TR-6S (I used its onboard filter on the master BUS for the builds).

And the LEAD sound played in real time on the Roland S-1 synth, through the Red Panda Particle 2 granular delay."

Lunar - Ambient Noise ๐ŸŽ„ (Arp 2600 m // Waldorf M + Red Panda Particle 2 // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"For the last video of 2023, I really wanted to spotlight the raw sound of the amazin ARP 2600 M ๐Ÿคฉ
So throughout the whole track, you'll only hear the sound coming directly from the ARP 2600 M without any external effects, though I did use its onboard spring reverb (+ a bit of EQ/comp where used for mixing purposes).
Contrary to my previous (which was the first) video featuring the ARP which was an uptempo track, no beats or kick here! Only the ARP and the Waldorf M (+ Particle granular delay).
The same track from the Keystep Pro is sequencing both synths.

As you can see, I use some patching in this one for the ARP:
 - The VCF output is going through its preamp input to make the distorted sound you gradually hear (it's being played in parallel of the dry sound coming out from VCF output)
 - I also used the LFO to modulate the filter and pulse width of oscillator 2
 - I did did some patching as well, in order to play portamento with one of the ARP's oscillator (using the voltage processor "Lag Time")

* Hardware used *

// SYNTH:
 - Korg ARP 2600 M (semi modular analog synth) - RAW sound
 - Waldorf M (8-voice hybrid digital and analog wavetable) + Red Panda Particle v2 (digital granular delay)

// SEQUENCER:
 - Arturia Keystep Pro"
