SISTERS - Ambient session #29 // Mannequins Three Sisters, Arbhar, Panharmonium, Subharmonicon

"First sounds with the Mannequins Sisters, such an interesting little module. In its core is a triple filter (Hi, Low and Band Pass) but it works great as an spectral mixer. I am slowly modulating the frequency cutoff so that the different sounds come and go progressively. Very little resonance added, it can be very resonant!

Voice 1- Arbhar recording of my voice and ambient sounds with the internal microphone. High input of Sisters.
Voice 2 - Maths Tom sound into Rings. Center of Sisters.
Voice 3 - Panharmonium with a Random sequence from Pams into the Low input of Sisters.
These 3 voices go into the Xaoc Praga mixer, with Mimeophon and FX Aid in the sends. I am modulating the volume and panof
Voice 2 from Øchd and Pams, and the panning of Arbhar from Pams too. The mix goes through Qubit Mojave for the occasional reversed granular bleep.
Voice 4 - Subharmonicon through Blooper as a delay and Mercury 7 as Reverb.
Voice 5 - Low kick from DFAM


Recorded in a single stereo mix and mastered in Ableton."

First Stage Fright

"Rossum Electro-Music works its' way into the 5U system. The results are pretty nice.

Using a Trident Oscillator with quantized pitch CV from a Mob Of Emus into three envelopes from Synthetic Sound Labs Octal VCA Expander, then on to the Rossum Panharmonium Mutating Spectral Resynthesizer.
A tap off the Trident is sent to the Rossum Linnaeus filter for a percussive FM part which starts the work. The timing is from the Moon Modular 563 Trigger Sequencer.
The rhythm section is the Synthetic Sound Labs / Hagiwo Geo Gruvn euclidean sequencer for all the parts.
The bass part is the SSL Woven Spirits (MI Plaits) in wavetable mode.
The dual Q960 sequencers are transposing the 1V/Oct input to the Panharmonium and sending various control voltages to the bass and another pad swell sounds from the 5U system.
All recordings are in real time to Cubase 12 and video is edited in Final Cut Pro."

FALL - Ambient Synth Jam #22 // Pro3, Subharmonicon, Arbhar, Panharmonium

"I felt like I needed a change in the setup to spice things up a bit, so it was time to learn how to use the CV ins and outs on my Sequential Pro3, since I've never learned to use them.
Here I am sending gates to Arbhar to trigger a sample, as well as clocking the whole system with LFO 3. Nothing crazy so far, taking baby steps. This arrangement arised so I had to hit record and see where it was taking me.
Abrhar goes into the latest addition to my rack which is the Rossum Panharmonium. It is generating synth notes from the sampled strings in Arbhar.

At the begginning I am improvising with the Nord Felt Piano on top of the Arbhar, and then slowly bring the other elements into the mix.

Subharmonicon is doing some long chords, feeding into Meris Polymoon for delay/reverb with some phaser. This pedal is amazing with synths specially.

The Pro3 is doing a sequence that gives the rhythmic context to the rest.

Hope you like it. Looking forward to explore this setup further.

"The Intellijel Metropolix sequencer making a dual pattern to a pair of Q206 VCO's. The filters were the Dove D502 Multi-Mode VCF and the Corsynth C110 2044 VCF. They go into the Lower West Side Studios (Yusynth) Panning Mixer then into the Rossum Electro-Music Panharmonium Mutating Spectral Resynthesizer.

The Panharmonium splits the signal to two destinations. The main voice is sent to the TipTop Audio Z-DSP with the Halls of Valhalla plate reverb. The FX voice is sent to the Make Noise Soundhack Erbe Verb reverb.

The Bass part is the Q960 sequential Controller into a pair of Q106 VCO's and The Oakley Sound Systems Diode Super Ladder filter. The on to the Synthetic Sound Labs Digital Delay and Tube VCA.

The fluttering noise effect is the Dove Audio WTF Oscillator in noise mode to the Moon Modular 517S in High Pass on to the Modcan 73B Dual Delay and the Echo Fix tape echo/reverb."

Panharmonium Revisited | 'worldwide harmony?'

"It's been over a year since I posted my first video about this spectral masterpiece. I posted this video a few weeks ago, but I got a bit carried away by the NATO summit in my home town and expressed my concerns. Totaly unnecessary. I also needed to relax a bit.

"It's probably me, but I don't feel comfortable with apache helicopters in the air and patriots at the coast line. The NATO summit is tomorrow and it's just a few miles away. I try to stay as far away from politics as possible but the World isn't a good place since the 2020 pandemic, the Russia Ukraine pandemic, the Israel Gaza pandemic and now Iran. If Iran attacks the USA, are we then at war with Iran too?

As always, it's a great time for some uncomplicated patching. I will revisit the Rossum Panharmonium in this video. Under the given circumstances I guess the name can be translated as Worldwide Harmony. Keep your head down and I hope I can post something new by the end of this week. At the top of the village stands the church, one of the remnants that has been most spared by time. Built in the 11th century, it is made of heavy stones. Within these stones, centuries of history have accumulated.

Centuries of faith and hope; the sustenance of the pilgrim; those that propel forward but do not eliminate obstacles and do not offer a definitive abode.

Although devastated, the village is not part of the past,
and there are still a few lineages to bear witness to its
past existence.The descendants of the last farmer live
among the ruins, and we can still hear the sound of life
in the distance.

"Spectral processors are hot these days thanks to the Spectraphon and the mighty 296T. It's easy to skip the Rossum Panharmonium and I got many questions like 'how does it compare...' So I checked a few Chris Meyers Learning Modular videos and many I don't remember. What I heard was pure magic. It's been quite an investment again, especially with the Morpheus.

This is a 'first patch' video so there's not much explaining and too much exploring. I simply don't have the time for a deep dive during #jamuary2024 but it's a perfect opportunity to share the experience of learning by tweaking knobs. I started recording/shooting around noon today, and I am happy I can post it before midnight so it's a genuine Day 23. I may have to shoot something simple tomorrow. Or maybe I'll do the dreaded Strega multi sample that will break reality in two."

The creation of the lake, 73 years earlier,

"The Panharmonium is an audio processor, but also a sound source of its own. It can store up to 12 presets (the settings at a certain moment) and 12 different spectra of the sounds being analized. Combining presets and spectra, the Panharmonium can produce a great number of sounds right out of the box.

Everything you hear in the video comes from the included factory presets and spectra. There are no filters and no VCAs in the patch, so the sound is drone-ish.

Modules in the patch: Rossum Panharmonium, Intellijel Quadrax, Xaoc Tallin. Reverb comes from the Strymon Nightsky.

"This is my first patch with the strange and amazing Rossum Panharmonium, a 'Mutating Spectral Resynthesizer', as it reads on the unit. Resynthesizers are an extremely rare kind of modules/instruments. The approach of Rossum Electro Music is easy to use and gets you immediate results.

In the clip, a full song is processed two times with different settings. The mix is 100% wet: you are always listening to the sound after processsing with Panharmonium.

Modules in the patch: Rossum Panharmonium, Qu-bit Nebulae V2, Intellijel Quadrax, Xaoc Tallin. Reverb comes from the Strymon Nightsky.
