Ample is a compact analogue synthesizer. Analogue - as in really analogue. Aside from the MIDI chip (which has to be digital), everything else is totally analogue using real transistors and op-amps. There are no CPU stabilised and quantised circuits, no DCOs, no digital LFOs and no digital EGs, as found on other so called analogue synths. The circuitry is based on designs dating back to the mid-1970s. So Ample has a genuine old sound.

"Here's the original orange AXXE from my ARP collection — now enhanced with powerful and unique upgrades that set it apart from the rest, tailored by synth guru and ARP specialist Saint Eric. The keybed has been equipped with aftertouch - stepping into a Pro Soloist's territory! - easily one of the most expressive we've experienced on many synths we've had in our hands. It's really a joy to play: internally routed to the VCA and/or VCF, the AT pressure mechanism can be tastefully dialled using three front panel controls and has its own CV output too, for further control of external synths and modern-day modulars. This unit has a really characterful VCF which received the 4075 Timothy Smith filter upgrade. In addition to the external audio input for routing outboard signals to the VCF, on the rear panel you'll find a CV mix output which sums the keyboard, the sensitive PPC pads, the portamento and octave switches for controlling outboard synths. And you have a special variable CV output with two dedicated attenuators to adjust the scaling response, all controllable from the main panel, turning this synth into a powerful and unique analogue keyboard/CV controller. There is also a separate LFO CV output, very useful as the synth is modded to use the internal LFO and Sample & Hold in free-run mode just using a selectable switch. More useful and common modifications to this synth apart from the upgraded VCA and clean-audiopath improvements, are three different ADSR response modes: Fast, Normal & Slow via a three-position switch, A rich, powerful and extremely versatile analog. Cosmetics are just outstanding. Really impressive when you have it in front of you! It’s like travelling back through time: see the pics - notice on the left of the keyboard the nice touch that the original ARP badge imparts. It’s hard to let it go, but I know it deserves a new home in good hands. As a bonus, an ARP 70's logo T-shirt is also included on this listing. You'll provide the IEC power plug. "A one-take jam using a TD-3-MO (a supercharged TB-303) to play along to Massive Attack's Teardrop. Dedicated to the brave people of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2025 ✌️🇵🇸

I wanted to show how expressively you can play a 303 with PlayFader. And I feel like I've just unlocked a secret door... I can't even image how I'd sequence this using a xox sequencer, let alone inside a DAW.

BUT, although I didn't in this case, you can always record the MIDI output of PlayFader into your DAW so you can go back and edit, tweak and fine tune... if that's your kind of workflow.

Not mine, sorry. I just want to play music, that's why PlayFader exists.

No Fun FX used btw, not even transpose, I'm simply just playing, recording, improvising and overdubbing live. Jumping between the dual buffers in each channel, while also switching performance quantisation modes to mix between Auto (ratchets) and Single (which is basically... no ratchets : ] ) to create more variety and dynamics.

Channel A of PlayFader controls pitch and gate CV.
Channel B controls Slide and Filter Cutoff CV at the same time. While the gate out is engaging the Accent.
I chose the Behringer TD-3-MO precisely because of its numerous CV inputs, but you can absolutely do this over MIDI on any other 303, or in your DAW using a 303 VST. More to come with this combo for sure...

I hope you try this and enjoy it as much as I did.

"The Roland SH-5 is possibly the most feature rich vintage mono synth ever made by the legendary Japanese company. With 2 LFO's, 2 VCO's, 1 variable state VCF, 1 bandpass filter, 2 Envelopes, 1 VCA, S&H, Ring Mod and a simple but powerful switch matrix for routing modulation this synth is more than capable of making some of the most incredible tones and textures you can imagine!

Made in the late 1970's 'green face' Roland era, when their synths had a certain magic sound that is hard to describe. Fizzling and alive with electricity!

A handful of patch points on the back give you access to all the essential controls via CV so that this can play along nicely with a modern set-up.

This particular SH-5 has just been fully serviced in our Synthesizer Rejuvenation and Wellness Centre and comes with a 90 day warranty of good health. Original lid included."

PlayFader PlayMates - Elektron Syntakt ⚡️ fragments and moments of firmware testing

"I was using the @elektron Syntakt to test some firmware updates and it was too much fun not to share. This isn't a whole performance, just some selected clips from a longer 30 minute exploration.

Connected with just one MIDI TRS to 5-pin cable, I’m controlling tracks 2 & 5 with Channels A & B of PlayFader. Syntakt is only sequencing the drums, the rest is PlayFader… including the master clock, Syntakt is the slave 😏

I don’t think I’ve had as much fun with an Electron box before!

It’s endlessly creative and inspiring to actually play the Syntakt rather than just program a sequence and press start…

I’m not a Syntakt expert by any means though, and I’m not really that good at making techno either, but it when in Rome… had to be done.

One other cool aspect of this setup is that you can also record everything you’re doing on PlayFader into the Elecktron sequencer!!! 👊💥I don’t show it here but it is very simple, just press record and you’re capturing grooves on the fly, ready for editing, playing and even storing them into new patterns!

"PlayFader is made in Cyprus and I’ve just relocated back to Cyprus permanently after 30 years away. I really miss the place and I’m so happy to be home.

At the same time as arriving, the amazing @caroline_myvolts introduced me to Dim, head honcho at @synthesizergr and he wanted to stock PlayFader. This means so much to me, to have a Cypriot-made electronic music device being sold in Athens, Greece 🇨🇾❤️🇬🇷

So… PlayFader is now available in @synthesizergr

I wanted to do something special to celebrate this 🫠

I wanted to make a full length performance for Dim and celebrate the best of modern Greek dj’s and producers while showcasing PlayFader as the expressive and creative instrument that it is. Especially in one of my favourite contexts, as a live sequencer that you can use to perform while dj’ing. I’m after all more of a dj than a producer. And this is my happy place where I absolutely fucking love to use PlayFader 👊

Dim pointed me in the direction of @echonomist_music and I instantly found this track that I fell in love with. It’s about homecoming and joy… 💛

What you see in this video is only the 2nd take, totally improvising over the entirety of the track “Happiest of all memorial days”.

It would have been the 1st take but I forgot to plug the audio into the camera 😂

There are some slightly less perfect moments, but I was absolutely in my flow state and enjoyed every second of playing!
And that’s the point I wanted show. PlayFader is a live performance instrument and a wise genius synth-builder once said “instruments reward practice and perseverance”. (Vlad from Soma thank you 🙏)

Me and Jason designed PlayFader to give users lots of support and freedom - stay tightly locked into the groove and wander far away from it at any time, always with the option to come back to where you were.

There’s lots going on in this, too much to explain in detail here. It’s 7 minutes long and uses lots of features like the dual buffers, live switching, Latch play, Fun fx, ratchets etc etc.
