OPUS Soviet Vintage Analog Synthesizer

via this auction
"'Opus' (Riga musical instruments factory)

This keyboard polyphonic EMI can be used for playing compositions of different genres. Keyboard includes 60 keys and the sounding range is 5 octaves.

There is a possibility to change 2 lower octaves to play a composition by separate timbre with extending sounding on 1 octave down & it's also possible to transpose the whole pitch a fifth down.

The instrument consists of 4 sections: piano, that synthesizes piano's soundings of 3 timbres, string organ, that plays organ's sounding with soft attack and with the possibility to control release, with the pereodically repeated beat-fading sounds. There is a bass section, that is controlled by 2 lower octaves, that contain three 8' and two 16' registers. It plays sounding of the bass drum.

Instrument is rather heavy approx. 35 kg (all the case around it is made of wood) Only few companies offer posting services for such a heavy items. Shipping rate via DHL varies and depends from zone. For example shipping to 2nd zone (Finland, Poland) would be 140 USD, to 3rd-5th zones (all other European) approx. 180 USD."

"Lullaby to Tim" - on Roland SH-2000

YouTube via organfairy — April 06, 2010 — 'Kisses changing frogs into princes Close your eyes and you will be there'

Just a little lullaby before bedtime. This song was originally recorded by the Hollies in the late 1960's and I know it from an old tape I bought in the late 1980's at a garage sale.

The original recording had two special phenomenons included in the mix: The songs was modulated by - what I thinks is - a guitar tremolo unit. I have tried to emulate this by using the repeat function on the synthesizer. The other phenomenon is that the band was in only one channel and the singer was in the other. This gave a weird hole-in-the-middle feeling but gave me a great opportunity to play along with the music on my saxophone. I just turned the volume all the way down on the channel with the singer and played the melody myself. Here I play the complete arrangement though."

Now, you can take the power of the Electribe•R with you thanks to iElectribe, Korgs first dedicated app; bringing the fun of analog-synth style beat making to your iPad. Best of all, the iElectribe takes full advantage of iPads 9.7 inch multi touch display to deliver a new style of musical instrument.

Main Features
Faithful recreation of the Electribe•R's entire sound engine and sequencer

64 Preset patterns ready for immediate use

8 Supercharged effects

Advanced Motion Sequencing takes the iElectribe to new frontiers

Available now at Apple's App Store (inside iTunes Store) for a special introductory price of $ 9.99 (US Dollars). Promotional pricing expires June 30, 2010 (regular price is $19.99 USD).

Classic must-have Korg dance gear, now available as a dedicated iPad application
Since its debut in 1999, the aggressive sound, unique functionality, and intuitive beat-building style of the Korg Electribe series has continued to make it a favorite of creative artists around the world. Over the years, the Electribe series has continued to evolve in new directions. The vacuum-tube equipped Electribe•MX and SX went on sale in 2003, followed by the updated MKII versions of the Electribe•A and Electribe•R. The year 2010 marks another chapter for the Electribe family with the iElectribe one of the worlds first dedicated iPad musical instrument applications.

While fun to use, the iElectribe is no toy; it brings to the iPad the legendary capabilities of the Electribe series. Sound creation is easy and intuitive. Simply touch the step-sequencer's sixteen individual step keys to quickly start a groove, pick another part and repeat. This simple and understandable interface offers an intuitive "hardware" feel that will captivate the imagination of anyone those familiar with the Electribe's power, and those who are experiencing it for the first time!

Faithful recreation of the Electribe•R's entire sound engine and sequencer
Like its hardware counterpart, the iElectribe offers a four-part percussion synthesizer and a four-part PCM synthesizer. The percussion synthesizer features analog synth-style versatility, including exciting cross modulation! The sample-based PCM parts deliver realistic drum hits, cymbals, and more. Using the Accent function adds emphasis where you need it - vital for creating compelling grooves. All in all, that's eight programmable parts combined with the easy-to-use 16-step sequencer, so anyone can start creating powerful beats instantly!

64 preset patterns ready for immediate use
The 64 preset patterns include familiar patterns from the Electribe•R as well as new patterns created especially for the iElectribe. The preset patterns cover a wide variety of dance music styles including techno, house, electro, trance, drum 'n' bass, dubstep, hip-hop, and R&B. Of course, there is plenty of room to program patterns that are all your own.

Supercharged Master Effect with 8 effect types
The Master Effect has been enhanced from the original Electribe•R, and has been optimized for use in today's music scene. The eight effect types can spice up your beats in a variety of ways that can become indispensable. Included are a chorus/flanger that fits any type of sound; a tempo-matching BPM delay; plus effects such as a grain shifter and decimator which can dramatically transform the sound.

Advanced Motion Sequencing makes patterns come alive
Simply stated, Motion Sequencing records all of your sound enhancing knob-twisting and tweaking so it can be memorized and replayed as part of a pattern. The knob motion of all parameters, for each and every part, can be recorded so you can go wild and create diverse and complex patterns like never before."

rv0 Sync Unit DC

"Sync Unit is the free solution for reliably syncing hardware instruments in software based music setups. It uses audio ports instead of the latency and jitter plagued midi system to provide you with the best possible synchronization.

By default it provides a normal 24 pulses-per-quarter-note din-sync signal for Roland instruments, but 12, 48 and 96 ppqn are also available for other applications. Apart from the sample accuracy, the signal can also be shuffled in many different ways, keeping you in control over the groove and feel of your patterns."

Pearl Syncussion SY-1

via this auction
"It has two channels and can be triggered by a synthesizer, drum machine or one of the two included pads.

There are sensitivity knobs at the rear to adjust for a strong or weak signal.

When used with the pads the sounds vary depending on how hard you hit the pad making it truly expressive and musical.

Also, because this is pure analogue, there is no processor lag (latency) so the sounds are heard instantly, essential for getting a good groove.

The SY-1 has 6 preset oscillator modes, and on each channel there are 8 sliders which control, tune, decay, width, sweep speed, sweep range, lfo speed, lfo range, and output.

There are also sliding switches to control "sweep up-off-down" and "lfo square wave-off-saw wave" and sample and hold.

Can use with or without drum heads, drum heads activate triggers which could also be activated by sequencers or triggered outs on a drum machine or electric drum kit."

Actually the voice consists of the 259e oscillators combined in the 285e balanced modulator, then sent to the 292e dynamics manager, then to the 291e filter. All of the elements in this chain receive the same envelope modulation. I am altering the parameters on these modules during the video. The bass kick is the 261e sine with envelope modulation, the snare is 259e mem skew through the 291e filter, and the "hihat" is the 266e noise through the 281e filter. Similar to the last video, but a lot easier on the ears!"

"Sigma is an extremely interesting synthesizer. Essentially a preset monophonic synth, it offers many of the same features as other preset monosynths - a 3 octave keyboard with aftertouch sensitivity, a range of preset sounds (19 in Sigma's case) and various performance controls.

Unlike other preset monosynths, however, it does not feature a single VCO-VCF-VCA signal path with a diode matrix or diode and resistor matrix to select the preset sounds."

Casio CZ-1000 Phase Distortion Synthesizer - List of Preset Patches

via this auction

"Made in 1985, this is a Casio CZ-1000. It was Casio's answer to the Yamaha DX series synths. This is the full-sized 49-key version of a Casio CZ-101. It has the same phase distortion synthesis engine the CZ-101 does. This one's in better-than-average condition with only minimal wear. All of the keys and buttons work. The membranes over the switches are all intact. (This is unusual for a 25-year-old synth.) All 32 of the internal presets work. I'm including a CD-ROM disk that contains the manual and additional patches. The patches can be loaded into it from your computer via a MIDI cable. This is an excellent lead synth for dance or techno music.
Specifications

* Polyphony - 8 notes (8 oscillators)
* Oscillators - Digital Phase Distortion Synthesis (sine, saw, square, pulse, resonance, double-sine, saw-pulse)
* #Instruments - 4 part multitimbral

Vintage Korg PolySix Analog Synthesizer w/MIDI

via this auction

"This Korg Polysix (Poly Six) comes from a smoke free studio environment, at Innermuze Studios of Metro-Detroit.

The Polysix (P6) for sale is in excellent condition and comes with MIDI from the Canadian company MIDITEC!

This Polysix has been modified (modded) so that the internal battery is not located on the KLM-367 board as originally designed. If researched, one will find that this original location caused corrosion on the main section of the data controlling of the keyboard itself. There was some signs of corrosion in this area but all has been cleaned and tested, and any necessary jumpers have been soldered in place to ensure proper functionality. And for those who may be asking, yes, this is a brand new battery that has been installed. You can see in the pics where the battery is mounted to its own circuit board below the keyboard assembly near the mod wheels.

This MIDI modification was installed some time before I even received the keyboard. However, all works as it should with the MIDI In, Out, and Thru.

The best part of the MIDI modification is the MIDI Thru port. Many MIDI kits that I have come across will only have MIDI In, with an occassional few that have an Out as well. This one has a Thru which allows you to daisy chain instead of having the Polysix as a final unit.

I am not entirely sure of what MIDI functions are available with this particular kit since I have not had much luck finding out enough information on MIDITEC other than that they were of the few MIDI kit producers for the Polysix in the earlier years.

I have had this Polysix hooked up via MIDI with my Akai MPC-2000 and used it primarily for note sequencing as I tweaked the controls myself for filtering and other effects.

One factor of the MIDITEC MIDI kit that is worth mentioning is that it doesn't allow the Appregiation section, Hold, or Chord Memory to function as originally designed. I never had a problem with this though since I used it mainly with my MPC2000 as stated earlier or even with my Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 that has a built in Appregiator." inside a polysix
