Viewing Paris from the Eiffel Tower

YouTube via attorks | June 29, 2010 | 10 minutes

"Its quite warm in the Netherlands these last few days and the attic, were my equipment is, is even more warmer. But I managed to video this improvisation. Row 1 of the Doepfer MAQ16/3 has an 8-step sequence for the self-built Modular. Row 2 is used to gate the Ian Fritz All-In EG which envelope is connected to the Resonant LoPass Gate clone. The Formant noise is fed to the input of the LPG clone. Row 3 of the MAQ16/3 is shifting the Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencer which has sequences on row 1 and 3 which are alternated by the Q962 sequencer switch. Row 2 of the Q960 is connected to the Q150 Transistor Ladder Filter to modulate the frequency level. In the second part of the video the Waldorf Q Keyboard joins with chords and the Clavia Nord Lead 1 and the Roland XP-80 performs some improvised solo's. The original video is somewhat more than 12 minutes so I skipped the first 2 minutes because I did not want to cut off the end. You can view the original video on my website soon.
My daughter Tessa is on a school trip to Paris for a few days and this evening she phoned from the top of the Eiffel Tower, which explains the title."

circuit bent e-mu xl7 command station w/ mm1 module

via this auction
also see this post
"this auction is for the circuit bent emu command station and the mm1 midi module the unit was purchased as a brand new instrument. the previous owner said the command station was used for only a few hours. i have confirmed this and the unit internally is pristine. all knobs, buttons, outputs, velo pads, ribbon, etc are in pristine shape and just like new. the outer shell was painted and salvaged from a emu mp-7. internally it is a xl7 and is absolutely in mint shape. i've had this unit for a few weeks now and can confirm everything is working perfectly both in mm1 and emu command station. this is a one-off offer and most likely will be the only one in existence

the following audio is several drum tracks played in realtime with a simple appegiator programmed for each sound. the emu sports 32 independant arpeggiators. the drums are then circuit bent and leads into a formant synth texture controlled with a wind controller.

Outer Spaces - iPhone EP Featuring DopplerPad

"Retronyms are releasing Outer Spaces, an EP in which all the tracks were made using the app DopplerPad as one of the instruments! Eskmo, Exillon, Jneiro Jarel, and Starkey contributed tracks to the project, and they all did an amazing job.

As far as we know, this is the first EP of its kind, and we're really excited for its release. Outer Spaces will be available as a free download, and DopplerPad will be 20% off during the launch as well.

"I moved somethings around in my studio this weekend. This is my wall of (mostly) VA's. They are all connected to my main Logic environment via Emagic's AMT8 MIDI Interface. I'm looking to pick up another one of those soon and add a Roland SH-32 to the mix. The laptop next to the Yamaha AN1x runs AN1x Edit. The iMac displays my PDF manuals for quick reference, as well as interfacing via USB to the Roland SH-201. The rest of the boards interface with an old copy of SoundDiver."

FORMANTA UDS

via this auction
"Formanta UDS is powerfull 7 channel analog drum synthesizer, produced by the same FORMANTA factory in Kachkanar city where mades famous Polivoks synths in eighties. It has 5 identical channels (which can be used freely) for BASS DRUM, HIGH TOM, MIDDLE TOM, LOW TOM, SNARE and two channels for Hi-hats and Cymbals. The synth has also built-in beatbox with 16 patterns. The beatbox and the synthesizer are independent modules so they can work at the same time freely. And you can tweak the generators of the beatbox patterns. Full freedom. Each channel has trigger Input on a standart 1/4 mono Jack and two additional Inputs for pedals. It can be triggered from drum pads like Simmons or any audio source - Line Outs of the drum machine or soundcard etc. The synth has two parallel mono Outs (1/4 Jack and 5Din) and two parallel stereo Outs (left-right on 1/4 Jacks and 5Din). It also has 5Din socket for Rhythm-Stick hand controller. This is an armoured antitank piece of gear and the sound it produces is very unique!

Wersi Model EX 20 MIDI Expander - Digital Synthesizer

via this auction
"This is a digital MIDI synthesizer without the keyboards. This unit will expand your keyboard instrument and it's capabilities into a new dimension of sound and features! With the EX 20 Expander, you have added virtually eight additional keyboards to your present instrument which can be controlled through MIDI from your present instrument, a sequencer, or a computer. This Expander is perfect for not only the keyboard player but also the Hammond or theater organ enthusiast. Not only does this unit have bank after bank of sounds, you can also create sounds with it using the drawbars.

I purchased this unit new and have hardly used it. Its capabilities are beyond my skill level. I have used it connected to a church organ that has MIDI and also a computer with MIDI. It has only the normal wear commensurate with its age. The unit comes with its power cord. The cartridge inserted in the lower right-hand portion of the unit does NOT come with the unit. These RAM and ROM cartridges will be auctioned off separately as they work with other Wersi digital instruments. The Wersi EX 20 MIDI Expander has significant capabilities even without these cartridges." You can find the seller's other listings here. Update: You can watch video of another one here.

Poll: One Pic Per Post?

Update: if you caught this post earlier, I was debating whether to limit posts to one image or video with a link to the full post for the rest. The site would look more streamlined and could be quicker to load, but it could take away from the current look and feel of the site. Another option that came up in the comments would be to just have the more link for posts that are a bit long, like auction posts with tons of images or video posts with multiple parts. I wasn't sure I wanted to sign up for that as it could become a bit of work considering how much does go up, but it might not be that bad after-all, and it would keep the general look and feel of posts currently on the site. That said, there are three polls below. An updated poll with this option, the original closed poll, and a poll on site performance. Note I added the "Click for more" link to a couple of posts including this one on the main page. Take a look and see what you think.
