"8 Bit Weapon is Seth & Michelle (AKA ComputeHer). The group has performed their chip music across two continents with their arsenal of retro game consoles: Commodore 64 and 128, Apple II, couple Nintendo Gameboy classics, Nintendo N.E.S., Amiga 1200, Intellivision synthesizer, Atari 2600, Speak n Spell & Speak n Music, some hybrid lo-fi acoustic-electric drums, and an assortment of other vintage and toy synthesizers.
Inspired by classic videogame soundtracks and electronic music from the 70s and 80s, 8 Bit Weapon delivers a sound that is as unique as it is original. Clever melodies, nostalgic atmosphere, and energetic beats create a decidedly modern sound while maintaining a fun, lo-tech aesthetic.
"this is the bubblesound sem20 in lp for the first part then u see me change to the np output. simple ulfo as a vco into the sem20 dry than wet like rain in the jungle. check it out."
"My first jam with the Korg Monotron (not counting the hour or so before I set the camera up). Difficult to play in tune, but fun for making crazy electronic noises!"
"This is my first go at using the new Korg Monotron (teeny tiny analog ribbon synthesizer) on an actual recording. The first half of the video is a raw take (you may notice a few "iffy" notes), and the second half is the sound of several takes blended together."
"A very nice monophonic analog synth with a seemingly unintuitive layout but once you work it out you're able to create very complex and exciting sounds. 2 VCO'S ,2 filters ,2 VCA'S ,3 envelopes and also many routing possibilities. Also has a very simple but great 8 step analog sequencer."
"Electronic Music Interactive v. 2 is a multimedia primer for electronic music that prepares students for more advanced study. Electronic Music Interactive v. 2 includes diagrams, interactive animations with sound, and a glossary that defines the content distributed across topic modules. Among the topics discussed are how sound is represented in the analog and digital domains, basic waveforms, basic synthesis modules, and MIDI. Students and teachers of electronic music everywhere are invited to try the new version of Electronic Music Interactive!"
via Richard Lainhart "Friends: the direct recording of my solo set at electro-music 2010 is now available on SoundCloud as a downloadable high-quality MP3.
This track is completely improvised in realtime without backing tracks or edits, and is for Buchla 200e controlled by a Haken Continuum multi-dimensional keyboard. All the sounds heard here are from the Buchla, with the exception of the flute-like sound at the end, which is one of the Continuum's physical modeling instruments called Slide Wind. The ghost echo behind the Slide Wind sound is from the 200e.
Thanks, and I hope you enjoy it."

"Irising out of the bowels of Philadelphia come Color Is Luxury, a duo of longtime circuit benders Charles Cohen, artful manipulator of the Buchla easel, and the artist who goes by the moniker hair_loss. Ripping the innards out of their respective electronic arsenals, this diminutive motley crew twist their varied sound palettes into corkscrew whorls of new shapes, sizes, and, yes, colors. Noise not noise, tonally consciously eve…n when they go all atonal on us, Color Is Luxury are true sonic provocateurs sharing a rich aural history that blossoms before your very ears.
The Glass Bees define their multidisciplinary art project as a means to indeterminate ends." See One Thousand Pulses for more.

"Steve Jones plays the Macbeth Mk1 Modular Synthesizer in a very 'Model D' style! This guy plays this stuff better than me...!
This is the sound of two Mk1 Oscillator 'A', Mk1 Mixer 'A', Mk1 Filter 'A' and the Mk1 Dual EG module. The controller keyboard here is the now somewhat ancient Ensoniq EPS. The organ is the vintage, early eighties Korg CX3. Also seen here is the inert MacBeth 'micromac' prototype.
Recorded sound is direct to the microphone on one Sanyo Xacti CG-10 camcorder.
I hope you enjoy! Ken M"
The ARP Odyssey was the direct rival to the Minimoog.
The sound is fantastic and powerfull. The Odyssey`s sync-sounds are incredible and for me the best oscillator sync sound next to the Moog Prodigy The Odyssey is perfect for very punchy bass and nice lead sounds. One of the best monophonic analog synths ever."
YouTube via tukurukoubou | September 15, 2010 This one supports the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer for external MIDI.
"In addition, LINE6's MIDI Mobilizer the iPhone / iPod touch / iPad be connected to an external MIDI device with MIDI input and output can be done. (Built-in music player does not output MIDI. The MIDI Mobilizer by design, if we input a large amount of MIDI, timing errors may occur. At the settings in the MIDI application enable input buffering can be avoided by using a receive.)"
"This is the first test of a series Im working on for a school project. The series is about intuitive semi random musical devices wich will be controlled by a variety of natural and unnatural sources.
This first prototype is an effort to generate complex patterns sound patterns using light and basic electronics. It's based around two 40106 hexinverter cmos IC's with 12 Light controlled oscillators. They are all competing with eachother to produce a very wide range of sounds and patterns."
I haven't put up a post on Technology Transplant aka chipforbrains on Ebay in a while. You'll find a ton of various synth parts. I added them to the right of the site under More Stuff/Accessories, Manuals, Parts, etc. Note if you are into DIY you might find some useful links in that section.

"From Progtronica producer, Nigel Sifantus, this is a live remix of the song "Candle That Burns At Both Ends" using Ableton Live, the Novation Launchpad and ZeRO SL Mk II. There are absolutely no power cords used, just usb cables, the Mac's battery, and a small boombox to hear the sound. Visit nigelsifantus.com for more information on Progtronica productions."
"circa 1975 Moog audio circuit board. picked up at an estate sale with other early 60's and 70's guitars and amps. Unknown condition (looks good but I have no way to power it up) likely application is Moog Satellite monosynth, inspection sticker from 1976. Card size is 5 5/16" x 18"."
Update via Qwave in the comments: "It missing the resistor matrix (yes MATRIX!). See the close-up picture. Without it, there will be no sound at all. These resistors are the preset patch memory of the Moog Satellite. There is no total free mode that doesn't need these resistors with different values patched the right way. I am an ex Moog Satellite owner."
YouTube via SyntheticMachines | September 11, 2010 Don't miss this Casio CZ-101 commercial from 1986. "Demo song made with the Casio CZ 101. Additional drumsounds from the Roland CR 8000. As usual multitrack recording + external fx."
"Short demo track made with the DSI Evolver + 2 additional sounds. Bassdrum : Roland Jupiter 4, additional snare : Roland TR 808. As always multitrack recording with some external fx. I also used the internal delay from the evolver."

Yup, the guys from Schneiders Bureau on the 2009 IFA in Berlin. They had a small but awesome booth including a lot of niiiiccce mashines ;)
I was there with my camera and made a little flick for you all.
So, here is the small tour including some delicious sound demos of the Doepfer A100 Modular system.
I apology for the shakey images. I was excited like a little child :3"

"Sequency-goodness. Audio is AFG's Alien Saws run into Borg 1, out of Borg 1 back into itself, Output to mixer. UEG-As-Sequencer clocked from Z3000 through Clock Divider for no real reason. UEG-As-Sequencer's CV is quantized by Doepfer A156."
"Watch your speakers, this clip gets pretty loud at times!....that's the point with randomized modular FX, right? Just me noodling around with my A-100: two ring modulators and lots of modulation. A homemade stereo tape echo clone VST was added for some delay, other than that it's pure analog madness. Enjoy..."

Doepfer A-100 Sequence "Going Home"
sampleandhold | March 25, 2010
"Watching my Doepfer playing a sequence from one of my songs called "Going Home". Some delay and compression was added. Additional bass by Synth1 VST."
"The Doepfer A-110 is linear FM ready. That means it is delivered with two exponential CV input (one is 1V/oct, the other one with an attenuator). But thanks to an easy modification, I turned the expo CV2 input into a linear one. Of course, it voids the Doepfer warranty.
Also featuring : the Flame Tame Machine.
The modulation ratio is constant until 3:00. Then I patch a VCA between the modulator (Malekko/Wiard Anti-Oscillator) and the carrier (A-110). The same envelope controls both the volume and, latter, the modulation ratio."

FMed BBD

"Following a thread on muffwiggler.com (http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19988), I wanted to try this FMed BBD technique. So far, I couldn't achieve similar sounds, but it produce gentle artefact to the usual BDD delay FX.
Source is a regular triangle wave (from the ZO !-), playing random notes. The BDD module is FMed by the A-110 triangle wave (manually tweaked along the video).

"Looks like Tip Top Audio is making a table top case that will be rack mountable. 4HP power supply is on the right side. This looks amazing and I would definitely use two for live performances."
Note one recently came up for auction captured here. It's actually test equipment and not a synth in the classic sense. Details from the flickr set:
"photos of a (somewhat rare?) early synthesizer. thought this was an interesting unit, so i figured id take some pics and share. dave from the audities foundation has pegged this as a telephone testing device. there is no date of manufacture, and i couldnt find any documentation on this-my guess is 1969-75, based on the construct and fonts, but who knows? SN 772.
it can both generate tones, as well as process or modulate any incoming signal(great fun on drums). the harmonic distortion unit on the top half is a partly-separate unit; the 2nd and 3rd harmonic distortion can only be accessed through the upper level of pin inputs."
"This is the new Liquid HiHat for my Deathlehem 101010 Noise Machine! :) Completed so far are: 3 x Voltage Controlled Oscillators 3 x Manually Controlled Oscillators 4 of 8 Exclusive OR Gates
Yet to be done are: 4 more XOR Gates 2 x 3 input mixers
But she's up and running and powerful! More explanation is in the video, showing a short example of it with an Attack / Release envelope generator controlling a VCA that the LHH is running through.
"Just another quick video shot from my phone. This time I'm testing out a new unit: the Marsynth Morris Box. This synth is made of two oscillators, a filter, and an lfo with pwm, all housed in a cigar box. The synth is being run through a healthy dose of reverb, and then picked up by the shitty microphone in my phone (good enough for youtube I guess...).
Currently, all Marsynth products are still being sold locally here in Lawrence KS ( http://www.richardsmusicstore.com/ ), although I hope to be setting up a website soon . I try to keep up with posting pictures of every unit made here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marsynth although I've been slacking recently.
