ALM Introduces MFX Pedal

video upload by ALM TV

"The 'MFX Pedal' brings all the effects and functionality of our popular Eurorack MFX module to both guitars and synths in standalone form with 18 different fully featured effects programs and additional MIDI, Knob and Expression pedal control, tap tempo, an optional analogue gain stage and true relay (or DSP) based bypass.

Inspired by our favourite classic hardware effects processors, the MFX incorporates DSP effect technologies from the dawn of digital effects in the 70s to the present day. ALM System Jams

video uploads by ALM TV

Playist:
System Jam #1
This patch is from a series of jams featuring an all ALM groovebox style setup with sequencing from the ASQ-1 & Pam, sounds from Squid, Akemie’s Taiko & Tyso Daiko, and mixing via 2 MEGA-TANGs, Jumble Henge & MFX. A faderbank with 16 offsets is patched around the system for performance and macro controls (making use of the assignable CV inputs of Squid, Pam and MFX).

Big thanks to Ed2d (Edd Butterworth @begg_egg) for the patch / performance and Andrew Duff (@allthesixes666) for the video synth visuals.

Patch notes:
A chord and bass line from the Squid Salmple are processed through the built in channel filters with their cutoffs controlled via assignable CV by the faderbank offsets. The bass line is only triggered, with pitch changes occurring via stepping through different cue sets. The v/oct inputs are used to transpose the chord and bass lines together using the ASQ-1’s global transpose function.

The snare and vocal samples are also a single sample using cue sets to step through different sounds each time the channel is triggered. An additional snare from the Tyso Daiko is layered in and processed by gated PL8 reverb from an MFX.

The faderbank sliders control many changes including open hi-hat width, sample pitch, and the snare/vocal rolls. To create the fast rolls, Pam’s new ‘ratchet’ wave is used to trigger the sounds, with the slider controlling the width parameter to let more/less ‘triggers’ through.

Switches + Faders = Power Sequencer!

video upload by Electrum Modular

"I love my main sequencer (Qu-bit Bloom), but it doesn’t have cv control over sequence length, direction, clock rate, glide, etc.
Then I realized that I had two ingredients to build a more patch-programmable sequencer:
Disting’s Multi-Switch mode, which offers up to 6 customizable switches, and a fader bank, Tesseract Modular's Sweet Sixteen...

Hoquetus modularis (featuring Disting EX)

video upload by Electrum Modular

"Exploring the wonderful world of hocketing, using Disting EX's 'Chord Engine'.
Recorded "live", adding only EQ + compression in Logic Pro.

Patch is described in the video. Just one clarification: as the sequencer spits out a new note every 2 bars, and the voices take it in turns to be the recipient of that new note, each voice changes note every 8 bars. As there are 7 notes in the sequence, this piece effectively repeats itself every 56 bars.

The piece excerpted in the first few seconds is “In saeculum breve,” a motet by an anonymous French composer, from the 13th-century manuscript, the Bamberg Codex. To avoid incurring the wrath of the copyright gods, I made my own version, inputting midi into Logic Pro and using brass instrument instead of voices, and adding convolution reverb with an impulse file recorded in a large church.

Last Time Playing This Patch Before Unplugging Everything

video upload by Izntrik

"Just a streamed synthesizer techno, electronic, and ambient jam session. Less polished than live shows, more for practice and experimentation. It's almost time to ruin this patch and move a bunch of modules around to expand my live setup into two eurorack cases instead of one. More drums, more control, more fun! Gets a little experimental at the end. Enjoy the synths!

Patch Notes:
Intellijel Metropolix is the sequencing Plaits and Doepfer A-111-6. Zadar is sidechaining, modulating morph on Plaits, and pulse width modulation on the Doepfer. Basimilus Iteritas Alter switches between quantized voltages from the Polar 8 and also sample and hold pitches from Metropolix with triggers from the euclidean sequencer running on Ornament and Crime Hemispheres, runs into the WMD C4RBN filter for wavefolding and saturation. Tesseract Modular Polar8 is controlling delays, drum density, resonance, saturation, A-111-6 pitch, euclidean offset, and BIA pitch. Prok and Pico Drums are being triggered by the 6equencer and Dnipro Dot. Endorphin Ghosts, ALM MFX, and Qu-Bit Prism for effects.

Superbooth 2023: ALM Busy Circuits - TAZM-O - AXON-2

video upload by sonicstate

"We spoke to Zach from ALM Busy Circuits at Superbooth 2023 about their latest release, the TASM-O. This analog through zero oscillator is small but packs features such as an output VCA, through zero FM with a manual control and mod index VCA, two sub oscillators, and a unique octave CV input. It also includes CV inputs with attenuation and offset, making it a versatile and complex oscillator that can create arpeggiator type effects.

Zach also introduced the Axon 2, which is an expander for the PAMs Pro Workout, Squid Sample, and MFX. This expander allows for hands-on controls and assignable buttons that can be used to quickly switch between parameters, mute, tap tempo, and load next or previous banks."
