That's a Teisco 110f on the right. See the super size shot here. Sequential Circuits Prophet-5s & more in the middle shot, and Moog modular below.

Update via the world of next tuesday in the comments: "Those are 1990s Cincinnati Moog modules from before Bob reclaimed his trademark in the last photo. The cropped picture hanging on the upper right of the modules is Isao Tomita's real Moog which they restored a while back."

ROCK SCHOOL Series 2

You might want to bookmark this one to come back to as you have time. I have posted videos from the Rock School series in the past, but this is currently the most comprehensive set if not the complete series - eight episodes broken up into twenty four videos. I opted to create eight playlists for the eight episodes so you can read the description for each under each set of three videos. This one in via willy who sent in Series 2 - Episode 5 (part 3 of 3) with Bill Bruford explaining his simmons drums. I figured I'd put the whole series up. Videos below.

"Taking over from where the first series left off, the second set of ROCKSCHOOL television programs focuses its attention on new technology and its implications for the musicians of the day.

Synthesisers, samplers, sequencers and drum machines are all covered, as are electronic drum systems, computer hardware and software (remember this is 1987 - so this is for retro-heads only) and synthesisers for guitar and bass. There are also tips on how to make the most of the human voice, and on songwriting and arrangement.

This series was shown on TV in the UK during 1987.

EPISODE ONE

KEYBOARDS
THE ACOUSTIC PIANO WITH THE COMMUNARDS ON "BREADLINE BRITAIN" AND HERBIE HANCOCK.

HISTORY OF THE SYNTHESISER
TOUCH SENSITIVITY, MODULAR SYNTHS, MINI MOOG, CLIP OF JAN HAMMER AND THE MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA IN 1972, CLIP OF RICK WAKEMAN, POLYPHONIC SYNTHS, MELLOTRON, TONY BANKS, SYNTHS WITH MEMORY SUCH AS THE PROPHET FIVE, CLIP OF JAPAN ON THE "OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST", RACK-MOUNTED EFFECTS.

Bach's Air on a G String for Analog Modular Synthesizer

YouTube via justwaving
"This is another classical piece done just using analog sequencers. It uses three Analogue Solutions Oberkorns and a Synthesizers.com Q960. It also uses the Moon Modular M563 Trigger sequencer as well as five sequential switches from Moon, COTK and Doepfer. Synchronising all the sequencers and switches was very time consuming in this patch. I originally put a version of this up on the 27th November but I wasn't happy with it so I deleted it" [following vid and description]

CV-13

images via this auction
There are some videos with descriptions at the auction.

"Combines Features of the Roland BC-13 with Control Voltage Conversion for ALL Vintage GR Controls. Works with Roland G-202, 303, 505, 707, 808, Ibanez IMG2010 and Roland GI-10, GI-20, GR-1, GR-9, GR-30, GR-33, VG-88, VG-99 and More!

Features of the CV-13:
* Converts Vintage Roland 24-pin GR Signals to Modern 13-pin Signals
* Four top panel foot switch controls for Synthesizer Volume, Filter, Resonance and Guitar Mute
* Up to FIVE simultaneous control voltage outputs in Roland EV-5 standard
* Six internal precision Phifer cermet trimmers to adjust response range
* Rear panel EV-5 volume pedal input for direct guitar signal
* Bi-directional support for Ibanez IMG2010 virtual whammy bar
* "Pin-9 to Ground" switch to reduce grounding issues with Roland synthesizers
* Powered by 13-Pin Guitar Cable! No External Power Supply or Batteries Required
* Solid oiled walnut sides on a black, ventilated steel base with contempra grey (beige) aluminum top panel, 280 mm x 220 mm x 100 mm.
* Backed by One-Year Parts and Labor Warranty
* Elegant Design

The onboard controllers that made the early Roland synths so much fun to play disappeared when Roland switched from the 24-pin design to 13-pin design. While Roland has continued to dramatically advance their guitar synthesizer design, modern 13-pin systems are still limited compared to their 24-pin predecessors. Realizing that guitar players wanted more control options, Roland added both a D Beam controller and Ribbon Controller to the new VG-99. These options are great, but they are not as convenient as the vintage 24-pin onboard controllers. And the D Beam and Ribbon controllers require the guitar player to be relatively near the VG-99.

The new CV-13 completely bridges the gap between a vintage 24-pin guitar controller and the VG-99/FC-300 combination. How? The VG-99 has an EV-5 control pedal input on the back, plus there are three EV-5 inputs on the FC-300, making a total of four continuous control inputs to the VG-99/FC-300 combination. With a Roland G-303 and the CV-13, for example, and you can use the filter, resonance, vibrato, and balance controls on the guitar to operate the VG-99. The virtual GR-300 in the VG-99 can now work exactly like a real GR-300, with the player adjusting GR-300 parameters from the guitar!

But this is just the beginning! The CV-13 also supports the virtual whammy bar found on the super-cool Ibanez IMG2010. And the CV-13 provides two whammy bar outputs, one control signal for moving the bar up, and one for moving the bar down! While recreating a virtual GR-300 was the initial inspiration for the CV-13, so much more is possible! The VG-99 has over 4000 target parameters, and any of these can be assigned any controller on a vintage 24-pin guitar. Or the guitar controllers can be assigned to continuous MIDI controllers, for manipulating soft synths in real time!

This setup requires several TRS cables from the CV-13 to the VG-99/FC-300 EV-5 inputs. For this reason, the CV-13 package also includes one 12’ TRS cable and three 3’ TRS cables. These are brand new, high-quality cables from Orange Country Speaker, specially modified for the VG-99/FC-300."

New ADDAC504 Probabilistic Generator - Overview Videos

ADDAC504 Probabilistic Generator - Part 1 from ADDAC System on Vimeo.

ADDAC504 Probabilistic Generator - Part 2 from ADDAC System on Vimeo.

"This is a complex Gate / CV generator based on probabilities.

Modules Knob Functions
Each of the 5 Knobs have 3 diferent functions, each of these these can be accessed through the Menu/Trigger push-button.

Here’s the functions:

Knob 1:
%1 = Gate 1 Probability
5TG = Fifth Output Type: Trigger/Gate
N1 = Note 1 Tuning

Knob 2:
%2 = Gate 2 Probability
T.SIZE = Trigger Size
N2 = Note 2 Tuning

Knob 3:
%3 = Gate 3 Probability
DIR = LOCK Mode Direction: Backwards/pendulum/forward
N3 = Note 3 Tuning

Knob 4:
%4 = Gate 4 Probability
S.SIZE = LOCK Mode Sequence Size: up to 16 steps
N4 = Note 4 Tuning

Knob 5:
SWING X = Clock Swing X: 1 to 16
Y = Clock Swing Y: 1 to 16
N5 = Note 5 Tuning

Gate Outputs Behaviour
At every clock input, based on the four knobs probability settings, the module will select one active gate out, only one of the five gates will be active at all times. All Gate outputs can also behave as a Trigger instead, Trigger size can also be adjusted.

The knobs set the probabilities of each gate to be chosen, here's an example of how this operates

With all first four knobs at 12 o'clock the first Gate has 50% of being the chosen one, the remaining 50% of the times will be passed through the next knobs. So Gate 2 at 12 o'clock has 50% of the remaining 50% left by setting one, which leaves it with 25% chance of being the chosen one, the remaining 25% will be passed through Knob 3 which will have 12.5% chance of being the chosen one, the remaining 12.5% will be sent to Setting 4 which will have a probability of 6.25%. The remaining percentage left by the 4 Settings will always be the probability of Gate 5, in this case the remaining 6.25%.

Here's a couple more examples.

KOMA's Field Kit launched on Kickstarter!

"After a year of development, testing and prototyping, KOMA Elektronik is proud to present the latest addition to the KOMA family: the KOMA Elektronik Field Kit! On Kickstarter now! The new KOMA Elektronik Field Kit is the perfect tool for everyone who would like to experiment with electroacoustic sound. Use everyday objects, amplify them and use them to make sound, like our heroes John Cage and David Tudor used to do!

The Field Kit is optimized to process signals from microphones, contact microphones, electromagnetic pickups and able to run DC motors and solenoids. On top of that it can receive radio signals and convert signals from switches and sensors into control voltage. The Field Kit boasts 7 separate functional blocks all focussed on receiving or generating all types of signals. They are designed to operate together as a coherent electroacoustic workstation or alternatively together with other pieces of music electronics with the ability to use control voltage signals:

Four Channel Mixer
