OB-XOne mkII - Oberhim OBX Expander Module in Custom Rack

video upload by Lackan

"My first version of the OBXone went on to save an Original 4VS OBX. But when I got a Rosen motherboard as part of a trade I thought I'd make a nicer one, 2U rackmount, with double sub oscillators and all the extras."

Looks like an SEM in rack form, but appears to be based an OBX voice board according to the description above. The OB-X filter is based on the 12db Lowpass disctrete SEM filter (it's missing the variable LP -> Notch -> HP knob), while the OB-Xa switched to Curtis based filters.

SUB Oscillator for the Oberheim SEM Module

video upload by Lackan

"This is a demo of a SUB Oscillator for the Oberheim SEM Module. It is very easy to install using the Molex connectors, thus being totally harm free to the Oberheim SEM. Available at www.usefulsynthcircuits.com"

Vocoder 222 by Techninaro

video upload by Lackan

"This is a demo of the Vocoder 222 prototype by a Gothenburg-based developer. Inspired by the legendary Syntovox 222 it really sounds fantastic, not many knobs but instant sweet spots and that really old school analog vocoder sound."

"Vocoder 222 is a 100% analog 10-band vocoder inspired by the legendary Synthovox 222.

It is assembled in a sturdy high quality black powder painted metal case with a retro look.

Neutrik connectors and long life high quality potentiometers fastened to the case provides a great user feel.

The heart of this vocoder consist of about 500 surface mounted components. Thanks to modern and smaller components we achieved this compact size compared to old rack-mounted vocoders.
Its powered by a standard 5V USB battery pack for great mobility or a standard USB adaptor (not included - please use only high quality parts).

For now this is only a very limited run that can be purchased in Sweden only."

video upload by Lackan

"A demo of the Teisco Synthesizer 60f. No extra FX used. Some pots are a bit crackly and the Youtube sound compression is a bit hard at times. Sorry for this."

Note the video is from 2013.

EDC SR-99

Published on Apr 22, 2020 Lackan

"A short demo of an extremely rare 1980'ish drum machine. I think it is a further development of the SR-88 but by another company. This kind of flexible programming is what the DR55 really is missing."

This is the first demo of one on the site. Moby had one for sale here.

OBXone 2'nd voice board

Published on Apr 17, 2020 Lackan

"A very quick demo of my newly expanded OBXone. I added a second voice board in total unison with the first voice board - except for the possibility to set the filter different.

This makes for very cool formant effects and is pretty much exactly what the OSCar has with the "separation"-knob: two 12dB-filters with the peaks separated.

Just a very quick demo..."

EDP WASP

Published on Jul 22, 2019 Lackan

"Selling my EDP WASP on Reverb and I made a short demo to show that it works."

via this auction

Pic of the inside below.

"EDP WASP in very good physical condition. Just one very small 5 mm crack in upper left corner (see image), perfect in all other aspects with a clean battery compartment and non worn keyboard sticker.

The internal speaker is faulty and produces a high pitch sound. This stops once "line out" is plugged in. So this is just the speaker, not the synth. (see YT video)

MIDI by Elby Designs in Australia. Works perfect.

Recently serviced. All potentiometers desoldered, opened and cleaned. Which means absolutely no cracks or jumps. All pots work perfect, again, see video."

OBXone

Published on May 28, 2019 Lackan

"A short demo of a OBX one-voice that I just built from a single OBX voice card. With added sub oscillator it reminds very much of an OB1 in 12 dB mode. Sounds really great in my opinion."

OBX voice clone from Abstrakt Instruments.

Elka Synthex, Roland Jupiter-8, Oberheim Xpander, and MKS-80 Comparison Covering the Same Track

Synthex Jp8 Xpander MKS80 - demo Published on Apr 5, 2019 Lackan

"A demo using the Elka Synthex, Jupiter 8, Xpander and MKS 80. The mix is totally without reverb or delay since I hate demos that are drenched in FX. This is what they sound like - raw.

I hope that this demo might show the different character of these synths. But since sound sculpting is so individual, this is just an example of how I use the instruments.

You might use them in a whole other way."

Which did you like best?

ARP Axxe with Sub Oscillator

Published on Sep 13, 2018 Lackan

"A quick demo of my ARP Axxe where I have installed a Sub Oscillator instead of the rather useless Gain-fader. Multiplies the Axxe by two, if not more."

Beefy.

KAWAI / TEISCO SX240 + Stereoping Controller

The controller is available from www.stereoping.com"

Lackan goes Dawless

Published on Jan 25, 2018 Lackan

"The most fun I had in years: I recently got an ARP1601 Sequencer and have now everything hooked up oldschool with CV/Gate. Pro-One is controlling the base pitch of the sequencer and the sequencer is controlling the rest.

The music is one take, played live and recorded in to Logic.

As you can hear I added the vocals later though..."

Published on Dec 1, 2017 Lackan

"From all of us to all of you - a realy synthetic, analog Christmas with a lot of Linndrum, ARP2600, OB•Mx and Pro~One. Live and prosper in peace!"

Likely the first time you've seen a Christmas tree play a synth. There's a rendered ARP Odyssey in there as well.

Rendez-vous 4 remix by Lackan

Published on Oct 13, 2016 Lackan110f

"Rendez-vous 4 is one of my favorite songs by Jean Michel Jarre, but I have always thought it was to soft produced to do the great melody justice.

So I did a up-beat cover, using only analog synthesizers. All is programmed from Logic, and the song is recorded in one take. Hope you enjoy!"

Toi + Moi cover by Lackan feat. Lachtite du coin

Published on Mar 10, 2016 Lackan110f

"Toi + moi by Grégoire is one of my favorite songs all time. When I stumbled across an acappella version by Lachtite du coin I decided to put some music to it."

Computer animated synths featuring the gold and black ARP Odyssey and Simmons drum pad.

And the acappela version so you know the source (no synths):

Fade to Grey - remixed by Lackan

Published on Dec 20, 2014 Lackan110f

"One of the best pop songs ever written. I have tried to be true to the original, and only beef up the sonics. This is how I would have produced it back in 1980 - if I had not been in primary school…

The gear used is the ones you see in the video. No software or computer generated sounds. The real deal as it was in 1980. (Ok, I know both the 909, Linn. MonoPoly and some of the others was later than 1980...)

My intention has been to do a fair remake, with the original sonics but with more power. Hope you enjoy!"
