Great care went into replicating the sound and experience of the original TR-707 and TR-727 hardware with some added modern enhancements. "Los Angeles, CA, September 2, 2021 — Roland announces the TR-707 and TR-727 Software Rhythm Composers, the latest additions to the Legendary series of software-based Roland instruments available through Roland Cloud. Brought to life with Roland’s advanced Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) technology, these plug-in instruments bring the authentic sound and experience of the influential mid-1980s TR-707 and TR-727 Rhythm Composers to computer-based music production and performance workflows.
In 1985, Roland introduced the now-famous TR-707 and TR-727, the company’s first drum machines with all sounds based around PCM samples. The TR-707, with its orange livery, had the most advanced pattern sequencing capabilities to date and included 15 punchy drum sounds covering all the basics, from kick and snare to toms and cymbals. Its sibling, the blue-highlighted TR-727, was an all-out percussion powerhouse with 15 Latin-inspired sounds that could take any groove to new heights. Each unit was formidable on its own, but together they were unstoppable.
Taking their rightful places next to other classics in the Roland TR series, this dynamic duo of drums and percussion has appeared on hit tracks in many genres through the years, including synth-pop, acid house, industrial, electro, indie, alternative, and more. The software-based recreations reproduce their sound and behavior with 100-percent authenticity, coupled with modern upgrades that take them into all-new creative territory.
The playback engines in the TR-707 and TR-727 were primitive by today’s standards, with 25 kHz sample rates and 8-bit resolution (and even 6-bit for some tones). To optimize performance, Roland engineers used short PCM waveforms with decay introduced later in the analog circuitry. But this early hybrid approach had its limitations, with deviations in the digital clock and analog circuitry causing variances in the pitch and decay characteristics. This combination of factors strongly contributes to the charm of the TR-707 and TR-727 and their unique and pleasing lo-fi punch. To replicate these behaviors in software, Roland started with the original PCM wave data from the hardware. Next, ACB technology was used to recreate the interaction between the PCM engine and analog output stages, carefully including all its quirks and instabilities.
The software-based TR-707 and TR-727 also include many updated features inspired by popular aftermarket modifications. Users have deep levels of sound control unavailable with stock hardware units, including attack, decay, and tuning for individual sounds, the ability to overdrive the internal circuitry, and much more. Additionally, the sequencer features include numerous modern enhancements for infusing grooves with added detail and nuance.

"Musikmesse 2014: Following in the wake of the Korg Volcas and Roland's Aira range, Akai is the latest brand to get in on the vintage-inspired groovebox action with the announcement of the Rhythm Wolf – an analogue unit combining a five-voice drum machine and single-ocsillator bass synth.
The drum machine section of the Rhythm Wolf comprises kick, snare, metallic percussion, and open and closed hi-hat sounds, all of which are tuneable. The bass synth, meanwhile, can be switched between saw and square waveshapes, and features a filter with resonance control and a basic envelope shaper. Akai describes Rhythm Wolf as having an "authentic analog design that references classic rhythm machines and synthesizers" - no prizes for guessing which instruments the company is alluding to.
The whole unit is built around a 32-step sequencer, and also features six MPC pads for live performance. There's also a 'Howl' distortion circuit for adding a bit of dirt to the sounds. Additionally, the Rhythm Wolf features a USB MIDI connection and has both MIDI and gate in and out ports, so can be triggered via a DAW or external hardware. It packs a swing control on its front panel, and the unit also appears to have a built-in preset bank.
Arguably the most interesting aspect of the Rhythm Wolf, however, is its price. At an estimated street price of $199, the unit comes in at slightly cheaper than the combined price of the Volca Beats and Bass, and cheaper than either the Roland TR-8 or TB-3.

"A perfect working Crumar Multiman S/2, the very hard to find vintage string synthesizer designed as the successor to the Multiman-S / Orchestrator. The machine is in very good cosmetic conditions and has been recently serviced by a professional technician. Professional packaging and shipping insurance included in the shipping costs.
Released in 1977 as the successor to the Multiman-S (called the Orchestrator in US), the Multiman S/2 is a fully polyphonic multitimbral string synthesizer capable of splitting and layering sounds. Using the dedicated On/Off buttons, the included sounds can be split in the middle of the keyboard allowing you to play one combination of instruments with the left hand, and another combination with the right. -- The name "Multiman" is the combination of Multi + Man, where Man comes from the italian "Mano" (hand in English).
The Crumar Multiman S/2 features 5 splittable sounds (Brass, Piano, Clavichord, Cello and Violin) and a Bass sound assigned to only the bottom 27 notes of the keyboard. Each sound has its dedicated volume controls for left and right zones and there are 3dedicated audio outputs : Pianos/Bass + Brass + Main (all sounds).
STRINGS The Multiman S/2 strings are raw, lush and rich with a warm lowend that fits incredibly good in a mix, a powerful sound quite different from other smooth, milky analog competitors. This section includes Cello and Violin, two sound source at different octaves with dedicated volume controls and processed by the integrated 3 line BBD chorus ensemble. The string sounds can also be altered using the global Sustain and Vibrato controls and with the dedicated String Timbre, a 6 db/oct discrete LP filter that allows to generate sounds ranging from dark pads to church-organs to massive analog strings.
BRASS The brass section of the Multiman S/2 sounds absolutely fantastic. The core of this section is the discrete transistor ladder LP filter equipped with Cutoff, Resonance (labelled Contour & Emphasis) and filter Attack and Decay. The Cutoff and Resonance are totally Moog-style and the fast Decay coupled with the smooth Attack allow to generate a variery of fat sounds ranging from puncing basses to sweeping leads and majestic analog brasses. The Multiman S/2 brass section gives his best at the mid-low frequencies and, despite its sculpted and definite character, it works great when layered with the raw strings. The global Sustain and Vibrato controls are also available for the Brass.
PIANO The Piano section includes Piano and Clavichord sounds with dedicated volume sliders and the global Release and Vibrato controls. The Clavichord is the classic sound implemented in all the string synthesizers, a HP filtered saw waveform designed to add extra harmonics to the main sounds. But the Piano sound in the Multiman S/2 is not the classic analog piano emulation you can find in other string synthesizers, it looks kind of low-end enhancer designed to be played together with the other sound sources.
BASS The Bass sound in the Multiman S/2 is very, very huge. It sounds like a 808-style bass drum with a smooth, pleasant saturation. This sound has been originally designed as accompaniment instrument but it can easily find its place in modern music productions. Used in conjunction with Piano and Brass, it can generate truly earthshaking analog bass sounds.

Every sound you hear in this video comes from this instrument, no overdubs, everything's been played in real time using the 5 internal parts, iArpeggio and the step sequencer.
Inside of each unit that you will find in the stores, there's also a piece of me as I had the privilege to create a lot of factory tones, scenes and the new iArpeggio 2.0 patterns!
I put a lot of love into it and I'm so happy with the final result. I have never felt so good with a synth since System-8, my first real job for Roland. It's a great honour for me to collaborate with them.
This simple song that I played, is not just a demo, it's a declaration of love towards life, for the fact that it led me to do (at least for me) the most beautiful job in the world.
I would like to thank president Jun-Ichi Miki, Hisakazu Yamasato, Akihiro Nagata, Yoshinori Iwamoto, Gota Miyabashira and all the amazing people in Roland I've been in contact with during the last 5 years. You are like superheroes to me, you're really making my dreams come true.

This is just breaking - no press release or info on Roland's site yet. Until then, some pics and features. As you can see this one is based on the Juno-106 design. The UI is as important as the engine and it looks like Roland may have nailed this one. The one problem with the original Juno-106 are those BA662A voice chips that fail over time. I've had a couple go and they are not simple to replace. You have to unsolder multiple pins on them to remove them.
What's interesting is it appears Roland is releasing classic physical designs with overlapping synth engines. The JUPITER-X has the JUPITER-8, JX-8P, JUNO-106, SH-101, XV-5080, RD, Vocoder, and ZEN-Core engines. The Juno-X has JUNO-106, Juno-60, XV-5080, RD, Vocoder, and ZEN-Core. So the X adds the Juno-60 but is missing the Jupiter-8, JX-8P, and SH-101? The Juno-X adds built-in speakers like the Jupiter-Xm. Interesting they note the speakers were inspired by the Juno-60 below. The Juno-60 did not have built-in speakers. The Juno-106S and SynthPlus 60 did.
