12/1/23 Roland (& RYK & E-licktronic) System 100m + Tapco 4400 + CXM 1978

video upload by Cfpp0

"The sequence and drum pattern are lined up differently in this take, with more emphasis on the upbeat. The E-licktronic 118a snare goes to the Roland 150 and gets a ring mod with one of the 112 oscillator outs, then that snare joins the kick in the 121 filter. The 112 oscillators are going to the other half of the 121, to the 172 phase shifter, to the 130 vca, enveloped by the 140. But the 112 oscillators also go to the 172 gate delay (thanks Alex Ball for the tip) for an extra sub oscillator layer, which goes back to the 112, but it’s not much of a feedback loop. CV from the RYK 185 and several LFOs modulate."

Erica Synths Bass Drum 2

video upload by Erica Synths

"Erica Synths Bass Drum 2 is developed in collaboration with French company e-licktronic and is our take on analogue bass drum circuits adapted for modular systems.

Timeline:

00:02 - Patch 1 - Sequencing the Bass Drum 2 with various gate lengths. Hats are being played from Cymbals module through Black BBD.

00:59 - Patch 2a - Basic tweaking of all parameters.

01:54 - Patch 2b - Adding modulation from Octasource for all parameters02:31 - Patch 3 - Using white noise output from the Bass Drum 2 to create a hi-hat like sound by sending it through the Black LPG

03:12 - Patch 4 - Making pitched sequences with the Bass Drum 2 and utilizing the accent input to make the ratcheting pats lower in volume comparing to the main kick sound.

All patches are sequenced with the Black Sequencer."

"Erica Synths Bass Drum is developed in collaboration with French company e-licktronic and it’s our take on analogue bass drum circuits adapted for modular systems. Massive, punchy sound, Accent and CV control over key parameters of the module make it distinctively expressive in live performances.

The Bass Drum2 has a unique take on the same concept - 909 based like previously, but with a Trigger/Gate mode. When in Gate Mode - Bass Drum2 reacts to gated signals making it possible to create sustained drum sounds. By modulating the gate length (patch the Gate output of the preferred sequencer into Trigger input and set various gate lengths), you can design unconventional Bass Drum patterns.

F e a t u r e s:

Pitch, Tune, Tune Depth controls
Attack, Decay, Drive controls
CV control with attenuators over Pitch, Decay and Drive
Manual trigger
Accent for better expression

RRP EUR: 230
MAP USD: 279"

Prototype Jam! TINRS Fenix IV, mmalex Plinky and Faust on Teensy 4.0

video by Making Sound Machines

"Here's a little prototype jam, using all the lovely modular gear and hardware we've been testing these last weeks! The granular glockenspiel is made with This is Not Rocket Science's Fenix IV Eurorack compatible system-in-a-box - this is a beta machine but production hardware is actually done! TiNRS’ Stijn and Lauri built in an awesome way to load sample banks into the digital oscillator in wavetable mode, so we were able to use a recording of my childhood glockenspiel as grains in this synth sequence, with beautiful warbles from the onboard delay! TiNRS Fenix' sequencer allows for each of its four channels to have its own rhythm subdivisions and to be transposed via MIDI - this is exactly what's happening here using the Arturia keystep pro. Fenix' extra seq channels are triggering a kick from GHzTomash Callisto teensy arduino DIY drum module, and gating some noise percussion using the Fenix' VCA. The lush swell of reverb at the end is coming from a combination of Fenix built-in verb and using our beta unit mmalex Plinky as an FX processor - DIY kits and the expander will soon be available again from Thonk.

The stereo organ pad is made on a Teensy 4.0 arduino, running an additive synth patch made with Faust DSP and the teensy audio library, controlled via MIDI with the Arturia Keystep Pro and patched into the Eurorack with our own Multiplikand module. It's rhythmically chopped using This is Not Rocket Science's Wobbler complex LFO into Mutable Instruments Streams dual dynamics gate, using the TiNRS Fenix' sequencer to reset the LFO in time with the sequence. The bass is Moogs DIY voice Werkstatt 01, a CV-controlled voice with a ladder filter and that lovely Moog sub.

The beats in the ending come from our circuit bent e-licktronic NAVA TR909 clone, sequenced using the Roland Aria TR-8 drum machine. While the NAVA is an exact copy of the famous TR909 circuits, hacked by us with 34 mods to vastly expand the sonic palette of the instrument, the TR-8 is a digital emulation of the same synth and somewhat shunned for its color scheme. If you look beyond that, it's a very practical and lovely machine.

❤️ Huge thank you to everyone sending us stuff to test and build! This is extremely fun!"

Sound of: Mu-Tron Bi-Phase (Feat Novation Peak Synth & Yocto Drum Machine)

Sound Provider

"I ve done this video for people like me who love to see gear in action, so be careful, this video may be a little too long for some of you. :)

I did few quick loops here then I turn the knobs testing different settings with the glorious and vintage Musitronics Mutron Biphase Double Phaser pedal effect (Or Phasor, If you know the difference between Phaser and Phasor please tell me )

To help me with this mission, I used the Novation Peak synthesizer and the Yocto drum machine (A DIY Clone of the Roland Tr-808 from E-licktronic I build myself not without difficulty) .

The video Start with a 'Clavinet' Sound Done with the Peak, at 2.30 you have kind of Guitar arp, at 5.30 a bass Lead at 9.30 some Pad Chord, at 13minutes you can listen to the effect with a Bass then around 16 the video ends with the DrumMachine.

Voila

Leonard de Leonard"

"Best clone of the Roland Tr-808 out there. V1 with a long decay kick mod on the bass drum, built by a pro builder I’m told, in excellent condition as I received it a mere 2 months ago. Comes with N American power supply. I believe it’s the latest firmware, no problems syncing with MIDI, Dyn Sync, cv, etc!"

"This is a hand-built Yocto 808 kit with the decay function. It is a version 1 and sounds great. Pretty much a 1-1 clone of the original 808 but with MIDI and decay modifications. I can also include a hand built stand that angles the Yocto 808 for easier use."

WMD Geiger Counter PRO vs E-Licktronic. NAVA Rhythm Composer (Roland TR-909 Clone)

Published on Jun 25, 2019 WMDevices

"The WMD Geiger Counter is a Guitar Pedal suited for the desktop.

In this video, we're using the Gegier Pro to Process a mono signal from the NAVA TR-909 Clone drum machine.

From outrageous to subtle, harsh to saturation, the Geiger Counter Pro distortion pedal brings the original guitar pedal into the future with MIDI control, CV, presets, and a ton of new exciting features.

As a desktop effects unit, the Geiger Counter Pro delivers tons of options with a fun to wiggle, knob-per-function interface.

The Dry/wet mix and low pass filter give it another universe full of tones that can be pushed up front or hidden behind the original signal, just for a bit of chaotic shimmer back there."

SUNSHINE JONES - A LOVE LETTER TO THE TR-808

Published on May 23, 2019 Sunshine Jones

"A Love Letter to the mighty Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer.
Covering a brief re cap of what we already know, and discussing the cultural significance, and lasting inspiration this instrument has had on the world, and music in general, the basics of XOX style programming, a general overview of the drum machine, and a discussion and comparison of the various clones and replicants which are currently available including the System 80 880, The Roland Boutique TR-08, the Roland Aira TR-8, the e-Licktronic Yocto, the Acid Lab MIAMI, and even the TR-606.

Note: I am an electronic musician, a designer, and a huge fan of synthesizers and drum machines. I am not an authority, nor am I a historian. These love letters (I should think that it goes without saying) are Op Ed (opinion based editorial) and thus they are filled with hyperbole, artistic license and some degree of speaking categorically to get the point across. This is not the first word, or anywhere near the last word on the story I'm telling. It's just a love letter.

Photographed, written, filmed, scored, programed, narrated and directed by Sunshine Jones.

Special thanks to Jeff of System 80 - Minisystem, Brandon Rodgers, Bijan Mirashi, Kevin Siegenthaler, Jason Williams, Jenö Lock, EO, and Frankie Knuckles!

I have made a limited edition T-shirt print of the technical drawing made for use in this love letter - a hand drawn pencil and ink illustration with type set in photoshop. 100 shirts are available. See more at theurgencyofchange.com to get yours. Once these 100 are gone, that is the end. There will be no others."

"E-licktronic Nava, Roland TR909 clone. Just completed, working perfectly. Assembled on 1.02 pcb, comes with Erika synth case and Chia Shin knobs (custom 909 style knobs). The circuit is 100% true to the original, uses the same schematic and the original NOS components. This is as close as you can get to a real 909 without spending that much. The only thing you'll need to buy to use it is a AC/AC 15v 1A PSU. Pay attention: AC/AC and NOT AC/DC. This is VERY IMPORTANT."

Yocto Analog Drum Machine Demo (Diy Roland TR-808 Clone)

Published on Jun 4, 2018 Sound Provider

"Here is the quick demo of the DIY TR 808 Clone from e-licktronic by Leonard de Leonard , The Yocto.
This is not an easy diy project, a friend help me to fix some stuff at the end.
I test it in front of Acidlab Miami /Roland Tr8 &Tr8s TipTop Audio Eurorack Modules and a Real Tr808, and this is my favorite with the real Tr808.
For this demo I use separate output for the Kick snare and HiHat and I use SSL eq and compressor to mix the sound.
I use it a lot for the Analog Drum Sample Soundbank of Sound Provider www.sound-provider.eu .
Enjoy and like always feel free to subscribe to the channel for more :)"
