SuOnoio Synthesizer
"# SuONOIO (italian , suono io = i make sound)
# Alessandro Cortini and Scott Jaeger (The Harvestman) have collaborated to create a fully functional, highly featured and fun synthesizer called the SuONOIO. The SuONOIO utilizes sounds found on the SONOIO album and allows you to reshape them into new sounds, rhythms, textures and drones!
# The SuONOIO is highly portable thanks to its battery powered operation and built-in speaker. In addition to the immediate feedback of the built-in speaker, SuONOIO features a 1/4" output that makes it easy to be integrated with your favorite pedals, processors, amplifiers and more. Multiple SuONOIOs can be patched together if you decide to become a shut in or a professional concert SuONOIO-ist.
# Main Features:
2 Sample Players with access to Sample Banks and Pitch Control, 16 Point Patchable System For Routing Simple to Complex Signal Chains, Internal Delay Effect, 6 Knobs for Ultimate Tweaking Pleasure, Mini Patch Cords, 1/4" Output, Integrated Speaker, Battery Operated, Multiple SuONOIO Compatibility"

Drum Pads for the homemade drum synth
YouTube via bchris1776 | July 30, 2010
"I finished these "drum pads" quite some time ago...never did do an update.
This is the Thomas Henry designed Quad Bass++ drum voice board and some "Leapfrog Alphabet Drums" I hacked to use as drum pads.
I'm no drummer - this Vid will prove that.
I can blame the short wooden dowels that I stuck a grommet on the end for sticks....Which is the only reason I dare show this in public. "I was the aweful sticks maaaan!"

Rhythmicon
Rhythmicon from Thomas Patteson on Vimeo.
"Ancestor of the Drum Machine: Leon Theremin's Rhythmicon
The Russian inventor Leon Theremin is best known for the eponymous instrument he created around 1919. But another invention of Theremin's is perhaps even more prophetic of later developments in electronic music: the Rhythmicon, produced in 1931 at the behest of the American composer Henry Cowell. This device allowed for the real-time generation of complex rhythmic patterns thought to be unperformable by humans. Each successive note on the keyboard triggered a division of the basic beat in whole number ratios: the second key beating twice for each basic beat, the third key beating three times, and so on.
This video shows the Russian scholar Andrey Smirnov demonstrating the how the Rhythmicon is played. The device shown in the video is likely the later version, developed in the 1960s and now housed in the Theremin Center in Moscow."

2010 Build Pictures on electro-music.com
I haven't put up a post on the 2010 Build Pictures thread on electro-music.com in a while. Check out the thread for more. Pictured here is davebr JH based system. Be sure to check out his site linked below.
"I've completed a number of Jurgen Haible, Thomas Henry, and other modules in 2010.
Top Row (left to right)
Haible Polymoog Resonator, Haible Scanner/Chorus Vibrato, Haible Frequency Shifter, and Haible Varislope Filter/Phaser
The holes in the center of the knobs on the Scanner/Chorus Vibrato are for the LED indicators. I used clear shaft potentiometers with the LEDs behind the potentiometers. I needed clear center knobs so I drilled holes and glued in an eyelet.
Bottom Row (left to right)
Buchla Lopass Gate, Henry VCLFO, Wogglebug, Henry VCO, Haible Living VCO
Information on all my modules is on my site.

Eminent Solina String Ensemble
via this auction
"The String Ensemble is an example of excellent Dutch craftsmanship. The wooden casing certainly looks good and is very sturdy. The console with sliders and instrument selection buttons is made of metal. The four octave keyboard is fine and has this typical 'spring crack' when you depress the keys. The contact springs are located under the keys, so they don't get covered with dust easily. In fact, the contacts are built that well that I have not noticed any cracking or sound degradation due to corrosion.
The unit can be opened by taking out three screws at the back, lifting the lid some two centimetres and sliding it backwards.
The buttons and sliders on the panel are the following: power on/off, tuning up/down, contrabass, cello, volume bass, crescendo, sustain length, master volume, viola, violin, brass, horn and modulation.
The contrabass and cello selectors can be used to turn on a 16' or 8' monophonic bass, which is triggered by the lowest of the keys one presses. The bass runs from C0 to G1 and stops there. The bass volume can be adjusted to match the volume of the upper registers by the 'volume bass' slider.
The crescendo and sustain sliders can be used to alter the attack and decay rates of the viola and violin registers and also have some minor effect on the other registers.
The viola and violin are the core string sounds of the unit. Brass and horn are also very nice and soft sounds which may be blended with the viola and violin sounds to create subtle sound differences.
The modulation button can be used to turn off the built-in chorus effect. I think nobody will do this, for the chorus of the ensemble is what makes this machine sound so very wonderful!"

"Hi. :)
This is an informal short video on the results of the Roland D-50's new 100% working volume board. D-50 is one happy synth. :) I play a short song to test it and see if I can hear any crackling or distortion. After that, I choose another sound and give the volume slider a run through and make sure it functions correctly. Also, you might wonder what that strange looking device with the lights on it around my neck, its an Icom, a bluetooth device for my hearing aids so that I can hear D-50 in my hearing aids directly.
The volume switch, pitch bend, Chase, Port and Transpose switches also work as they should. Its like a new synth!
:) TSF"

"This is one of those "tabbed" synthesizers with non-adjustable, pre-set voices. There are two ranks of tabs with a switch to select between them. The voices are wonderful - full, rich and deep-bodied. I like the wind voices in particular (clarinet, oboe, bassoon), which are strong and powerful, and really cut through the mix. They even occasionally sound like the instrument they're attempting to emulate!"
