Analogue Solutions Europa

via this auction
Noisebug (RSS)

"* Intuitive and simple programming procedure
* No sub-menus or shift keys - one function per key
* Simple to use - TR808/606 style programming.
* Analogue features - analogue tempo clock, 7 analogue trigger outs, analogue sync signals
* Live editing features
* Transpose, Octave shift, Mute
* Rugged steel construction.

Europa is a hardware sequencer, it does not contain a 'sound engine'. It has been designed from the ground up to be utilised with your MIDI synths, analogue modular, drum brains and drum machines.

Either use the main sync out or one of the seven trigger outputs to clock your analogue sequencers. Have them step whenever you like by programming triggers into the Europa sequencer. You can have 2 sequencers play alternately."

Proloop iPhone Looping App Demo

YouTube Uploaded by ipadloops on Dec 15, 2011

"ProLoop is a powerful and flexible loop instrument for professional musicians as well as hobbyists. Use it as a live electronic instrument by itself or as an addition to your other gear, or just play around with it and explore the possibilities!

It can play up to 6 loops simultaneously and besides changing the volume each loop can also be pitched/transposed, reversed, muted, panned, ring/frequency/phase-modulated by any other loop, and
synchronized to a masterloop.

Pitch can be smoothly adjusted or quantized to a musical unit such as octaves, semitones or a custom division of an octave. Or put it in sync-mode to automagically fit the length of the choosen masterloop.

The sync offset can be adjusted to have loops sync at other positions than their start, and the sync can be turned off individually to allow the loops to have different lengths to create ever-changing layers of soundtextures.

There is also a Freeze FX that lets you temporarily "freeze" a loop with adjustable grain size and position.

You can control all the loops in real-time, and multi-touch will let you adjust several parameters simultaneously, for example crossfading by changing the volume of two loops at the same time.

ProLoop comes bundled with many loops by professional musicians that you can use and play around with, and demo sessions to get you started, but the real power comes by the fact that you can record your own loops straight into ProLoop or upload your own professionally recorded soundfiles to ProLoop through your web-browser! You can also paste audio from other music apps into ProLoop.

What's New in Version 1.2.1

- added support for Retina Display
- plays audio in "handsfree" speaker
- app now exits properly

Proloop is available for $5.99

Octatrack meets Monotron

YouTube Uploaded by erasemusic on Dec 15, 2011

"An example of how one simple soundsource can be used over all 8 tracks in the Elektron Octatrack to form the basis of one complete song. The trig mode Chromatic was heavily used to create the melodies and basslines. The realtime sampling is made direct and what seems to be a transpose done from the Monotron is just sampling a different pitch from it in realtime. All tracks originates from the exact same sample which is made in the moment. The last part resamples the first part and makes use of the random LFO to startpoint modulation to create a controlled mayhem."

"The HOHNER VOX5 was developed in the 80s as a full equipment for accordion solo entertainer. It was also at that time so highly developed and best quality that only professionals could afford almost...

A special feature is that the velocity characteristics of the instruments can be manipulated. this way can create entirely new sound effects.

In keeping with the trend of the analog sound generation fascinated by this rare piece of '80s analog sounds with incredibly great.

These sounds - the drums, guitars, bass, flutes and the outstanding organ sounds are characterized by the fact that they do not sound synthetic, but a pleasantly soft yet accurate and exhibit dynamic analog sound. You ask how digital operation via MIDI with analog sounds are compatible? Although synthetically generated and therefore MIDI-compatible - the sounds come from extremely large, high quality and from today's perspective superredundanten ICs and microprocessors.

Yes, in the '80s, the circuits were so solid that they have for the sound generation characteristic of a completely analogous. Hence the great sounds - which is why the early analog synthesizers of the '80s with connoisseurs looking incredibly delicious treat!

TOM 1501 RARE VINTAGE USSR SOVIET ANALOG SYNTHESIZER

via this auction

"It's a string machine with 5 preset sounds: Piano, clavesin/Harpsichord, Alto, Violin and Brass. Alto and Violin are exactly same sound but violin is one octave higher than alto, so you can make "string orchestra" sound. Mainly I discovered this to be like Crumar Orchestrator/Multiman-s clone. Piano and clavesin/harpsichords are pretty identical sounding, but... Strings aren't typical "Italic" sounding which can be found on all crumar and some others string machines, Neither european (solina) or american (Moog opus) sounding. They are UNIQUE! They are FAT! They are WARM!..."

Tom-1501 - 61-note (F-F) string / brass / piano multi-keyboard. This one reminds Crumar multi-keyboards. Nearly all controls on sliders on sloping back panel. Splittable. Vibrato depth, speed. Brass filter AR, resonance and cutoff. Preset sounds, mixable, include piano, clavinet, orchestra (violin, alto, contrabass), brass. Chorus. Piano has separate out. Made at the Tula factory. Size: 920 x 360 x 195 mm. Weight: 13 kg

PANEL PARAMETERS:

- VOLUME: phones level, 5-din out
- VIBRATO (LFO): depth, rate, tuning
- VOLUME GLOBAL: strings, bass (+on/off), piano
- BRASS-FILTER: attack, decay, resonance, cutoff
- LEFT MANUAL: piano, clavichord, alto, viola, brass (+on/off)
- STRING ENSEMBLE: timbre level, orchestra (chorus) on/off
- RIGHT MANUAL: piano, clavichord, alto, viola, brass (+on/off)
- SUSTAIN: level ; POWER on/off
- CONNECTIONS (5-din): pedal in, mono out, stereo out (brass left, pno-strings right), piano out; 220V power socket, fuse, ground.

Tom-1501 provides very impressive analog sound, it is convenient for modeling of really fat strings and warm pads, classic brasses and horns, old space leads, vintage piano sounds, layered combinations etc..

Physynth videos here and here.

Update: A note from the developers via http://simiansquared.com/blog/?p=60

"We love Physynth, we love the iOS music scene but some of the criticism we have received has been a little unfair in my opinion. We aren’t Moog and we don’t have a million dollars behind us, we are two people bringing something we love and slaved over into the world and I can’t wait to move forward with it based off of the constructive feedback we have received and no-doubt will continue to receive but I thought I’d communicate what we were trying to achieve.

While designing Physynth I really wanted to create something to come back to time and time again, I wanted a tinker-tool that had a real use to songwriters and performers. There were hundreds of fantastic synthesisers out there doing a great job at synthesising but none of them allowed me to create something outside the box, outside of writing melodies manually. I wanted to create something chaotic.

Functionally, what I wanted to create was something close to that sketchbook you have lying around that you come back to and jot in whenever you’re feeling creative. I didn’t want to make a studio tool, those already are at a point where I get what I want from them. There is nothing really out there that suites me for just having a dabble with something a bit unpredictable. When choosing the sounds that shipped with Physynth I had to balance what people might want with what would actually suite Physynth itself. You can’t really have power synth chugs when you’re triggering these at a such a high rate. It would just sound like a mess of sound, this style of music creation needed something a with a bit more of a ring, a chime.

We planned in the ability to update our sound banks with instruments based on our users’ demand so as time goes on we will be updating with new sounds and many of them are electronic ones, it’s just that some things simply don’t work without sounded overloaded when they’re being triggered multiple times per second at up to 32 times per second.

Going forward, exporting/sharing songs between users and midi support are planned for future updates along with the new instruments.
