PPG Wave 2.2 Wavetable Synthesizer from the year 1982.
part1: some typical classic Wave 2.2 sounds
part2: the different functions (coming soon)
The PPG Wave 2.2 is the direct successor of the Wave 2 but with 2 oscillators. He is one of the greatest synths ever. A real classic! Only 500 Wave 2.2 were manufactured.

See the bottom of The NAMM List for some updates that did not go up in new posts (ie., a new video of KRONOS and the M-Audio Venom went up). Updates will now alternate between green and red so you can see when new chunks were added. Remember to check out the Comments link above for the latest on what people are saying. It's also an easy way to get to the posts being discussed.
For fun, here are what appears to be the most popular posts so far (note they all went up at different times so that has something to do with the numbers as well):
"Custom Hardware Synth Created by Eric Persing Revealed as Grand Prize
NAMM - Anaheim, CA — January 13, 2011 — The Bob Moog Foundation gave a special presentation at Winter NAMM, announcing a unique collaboration with Eric Persing of Spectrasonics on a fund-raising contest to benefit the foundation. Details of the contest are to be revealed when it begins on March 15th. During the presentation, Persing unveiled the Grand Prize for the benefit contest — a stunning, one-of-a-kind custom “OMG-1” hardware synthesizer he created that integrates the worlds of analog synthesis, computers, software synthesis and the latest multi-touch surfaces into one extraordinary instrument.
The OMG-1 was designed by Persing as a live performance instrument and is not a commercial product — it’s truly one-of-a-kind. The state of the art dual manual OMG-1 combines a Moog Little Phatty® analog synthesizer, Spectrasonics’ flagship Omnisphere® software synthesizer, a powerful internal Apple Mac Mini computer, dual Apple iPads®, dual iPods®, and Spectrasonics’ brand-new Omni TR™ iPad app — all integrated into a beautiful, hand-crafted curly maple cabinet created by American artisan Daniel Auon.
During the special sneak-preview presentation, Michelle Moog-Koussa, Executive Director of the Bob Moog Foundation, and Eric Persing talked about their collaboration and Eric gave a live performance with the OMG-1.
"I’ll never forget the first time I played a Minimoog when I was a little kid...it truly changed my life!” says Eric Persing, Founder and Creative Director of Spectrasonics, a leading music software company, “So it’s a privilege after all these years to give back to the foundation honoring my hero Bob Moog and keeping the spirit and history of his inventions alive for the next generation. I had a blast designing the OMG-1 with Dan and I can’t wait to see who wins it!”
Michelle Moog-Koussa added, “The Bob Moog Foundation is grateful to Eric Persing for creating and sharing this one-of-a-kind innovative instrument. The foundation's mission is to ignite creativity at the intersection of music, science, history and innovation. It is fitting that Eric's OMG-1 does just that. His instrument represents the contemporary convergence of analog and digital, hardware and software. I think Bob would applaud Eric's efforts to transcend boundaries in order to create an instrument with new and unique capabilities.”
Complete details about this exciting benefit will be announced by Spectrasonics when the contest begins on March 15th, 2011 (www.spectrasonics.net)."

Update: Details via this auction: "The Bug XI By Ben Houston . This custom piece is part of a folktek series entitled "philanthropoid"". Known simply as the Bug series. Also in the series on the site and around the world is the Mantis, dronescape sequencer, the book of sound, the moth, the growling insect, the bug, the octa-hedra, walking stick, pendulum translator and others. The sound is phenomenol and continues to amaze us. It is a sonic symphony of nasty and grimy sweetness, endless layers of sound possibilities emenating from High quality OSC originally based on high tech speech synthesis. Seemingly random bits can be rediscovered time and time again and then there are those moments that you will most likely never rediscover. Endlessly captivating, this piece WILL provide sounds that you will not find in other synthesizers and will astonish you every time you turn it on.
This particular piece features four patchable knobs, and a twelve point magnetic patchbay. This allows you to determine function and provides tons of flexibility. In addition, two more knobs (global knob control and power kill) , glowing lamp power indicator , 2 folktek button/switches for activate and freeze mode sections, reset, 1/4" output, basic manual of function and layout. You'll be able to cipher through waveforms and textures with extreme sensitivity in thousands of ways. Waveforms (individual, or multiple layers) can be captured and maintained, often intermodulating in beautiful and/or disturbing ways. Super sensitive knobs let you filter through tons of sounds and glitchscapes. Albums are waiting to be created here as the sound is quite different from anything else you'll find.. Includes DC adaptor"
"NAMM 2011 see's Novation announce Automap 3.8 which brings tighter integration for Waves users, and the launch of the massive Golden Ticket campaign during which over $5,000 worth of special edition gold Novation, Rane and Serato gear will be given away. Novation will also be marking the global availability of the new UltraNova synthesiser.
Automap 3.8
Automap is control software that comes free with all Novation controllers. The latest update provides total integration with all Waves plug-ins - just open up a Waves plug-in and it will automatically map to Novation hardware (this will require the forth-coming Waves update). Automap runs with Novation's SL MkII and Nocturn ranges of controllers. It is universally recognised as a powerful control solution and includes features such as 'Learn' which enables instant mapping of software parameters to hardware controls.
Golden Ticket Campaign
Novation have teamed up with Rane, Serato and Loopmasters to launch the Golden Ticket campaign. We won't be showing people around Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, but we will be giving away 25 pairs of special edition gold Dicers, five gold Launchpads, 50 pairs of special edition Golden Ticket Serato control vinyl, and a gold Rane Sixty-Eight mixer!
Golden Tickets can be found inside every special edition box of Rane SL1 and SL3 interfaces as well as TTM 57SL and Sixty-Eight mixers. Every single ticket unlocks over 500MB of Loopmasters sample content hand picked by the Loopmasters team - including the samples used by Blakey in the Golden Dicer video.

Novation at Winter NAMM 2011

"The machine is fitted with ZIF sockets for easy swapping of EPROMs (I did own a Prommer at one point) and evidently I have swapped some chips around as the 'clap' is on the 'sidestick' and 'sidestick' is on the 'cowbell'. An SCI Drumtraks kick sample is on the 'Clap'. I obviously had the need to have two kick samples rather than the cowbell - which I didn't feel the need for. I think I still have the Cowbell EPROM lying around (and maybe some other programmed chips) but I can't guarantee that I will find them. Please note that, as shown in the video, I was unable to get the Hi Conga to work. I am fairly sure this is down to the slider in the mixer section which may have come away from the track - it should be an easy fix. This machine is retro-fitted with the JL Cooper Midi interface. I haven't tested the MIDI functionality but I assume it to be working."
"This is an FX Music Control restored synth and passed through their workshops in July 2002. The synth was serviced by James Walker who was head tech at FX before starting Synth Repair Services."
