Halls of Valhalla for Tiptop Audio Z-DSP

Published on Apr 11, 2014 ValhallaDSP·4 videos

"A demonstration of the Halls of Valhalla reverb cartridge for the Tiptop Audio Z-DSP. This video shows the revised algorithm that are going into the release build, with improved SNR and smoother modulation than the earlier demo.

The Halls of Valhalla has 8 high quality modulated reverb algorithms, ranging from short (Room, Chamber) to medium sized (Plate, EnsembleVerb), to big (Cathedral), to unbelievably huge (Niflheim, Asgard, Ginnungagap). It will be available soon wherever Tiptop Audio modules are sold.

Thanks to Don Gunn for recording/filming the demo."

CMS Restored ARP 2600 / 2601 with 3620 Keyboard

via the seller: "I am the original owner of this beautiful ARP 2601. I bought it new in 1980; the original sales invoice is included. I’ve kept it in my studio in excellent condition all these years, but now it is time to sell it. There are NO missing slider caps, knobs, or parts. All functions work to factory spec.

I’ve just had it serviced by Phil Cirocco at CMS Discrete Synthesizers. As many will attest, Phil is the acknowledged expert in ARP service and repair. Here is what he did:

Console:
Rebuild power supply
Repair VCO 3
Repair AR generator
Remove boards and chemically clean all sliders
Replace all jack washers and nuts with OEM Switchcraft hardware
Clean front panel and inside chassis
Calibrate unit

Keyboard:
Clean and adjust keyboard contacts
Clean and lube all sliders
Replace jack washers and nuts with OEM Switchcraft hardware
Clean front panel and inside chassis
Calibrate keyboard

There are two modifications that I had done years ago.

On the keyboard control panel there is a small red toggle switch in the upper right corner and a red momentary push button next to the vibrato sliders. With the switch in the “off” position the LFO/vibrato controls work in standard fashion. When the switch is in the “on” position the vibrato delay is replaced by push button activation. Pushing the button engages the LFO/vibrato depth settings instantly. This allows for expressive use of vibrato while playing.

There are two additional jacks on the lower left corner of the console, and one additional jack on the keyboard control panel next to the connector cable. These allow for an optional ground cable (included) to connect the chassis grounds between the keyboard and console. In some studio situations this improved pitch stability. It is entirely optional.

There are EXTRAS:

Original ARP Performance Stand
2 Original ARP foot pedals for Portamanto and Interval Latch (the 2601 is duophonic, the pedal “captures” the duophonic interval chosen)

ARP 2600 Patchbook
2 editions of the ARP Owners Manual
3620 Keyboard Owners Manual
Service manuals for both main unit and keyboard
Various ARP catalogs and promo materials that I collected while ARP was still in business.
Original bill of sale

Patch cords

This ARP is in beautiful cosmetic and electronic condition. There are some minor blemishes on the keyboard case lid. I’ve shown pictures of them, some small white spots."

MacBeth Elements Synthesizer VIDEO6: Look North.

"This is my Sixth video of the Elements Synthesizer which features the 'Send/Return' Jack on the back! I've coupled once again the somewhat ancient Yamaha RX-50 effector that I have here. Also used- a Korg Sq-10 sequencer and some of the MacBeth Mk1 5U modular units...I wanted to record this as I was pretty blown away by the hugeness of sound! Again- whilst plying the Elements- it's the control/tactile feel of the larger controls that makes this thing very instrumental/mental!"

"Item is in perfect working order with just two notes to mention: the portamento knob top and knob cover are missing, but the portamento slider remains and works. Secondly, and I mention this because I this is my first CS30---the volume seems quieter on the VCO one setting as you slide between VCO1 and VCO2. The tones are fantastic, and I prefer to keep the balance at 0 anyway. You can hear the sounds fine, and again, I'm not sure if this is just how these are built. Everything else works perfectly. This is the funnest toy ever ;) Condition, cosmetically, is quite for the age. Please see photos (no major damage)"

VEDIC SCAPES Model 13700 MULTI-MODE FILTER - Buchla Format

via An Inaudible Hum

"Here is another worthy Buchla-format design from our friends in Europe (Belgium to be more precise). In a sound-world where Don Buchla placed primary importance on envelope creation over filter use, this double filter causes quite the stir. The lower section has a switchable prepatched cv feedback control called 'Morgellons'. Strangely beautiful and useful."

Ginko Synthese VCSQ Addressable Steps

Published on Apr 11, 2014 Chris Lehfeldt·40 videos

"Figured out I could use a fixed voltage to select individual steps. I have four offsets running into my a151 and a clock into trigger input on the a151. The output of the a151 goes into the input of the VCSQ and selects individual steps. So i have 4 steps that are being selected to trigger.

"This module transforms an incoming cv signal into a sequence. Every voltage step of 0.625V gives a next step on the sequencer."

Mutable Instruments Frames - Initial Test

Published on Apr 11, 2014 bigcitymusic·322 videos

"The Mutable Instruments Braids oscillator is routed into the 4MS VCA Matrix where it is split into 3 instances. The first instance of Braids is going into the first channel of the Mutable Instruments Frames. The second instance is routed through the saturated filter mode of a Cwejman QMMF-4 channel and fed into the second channel of Frames. Cutoff modulation is provided by the Cwejman CTG-VC which is clocked from the Cwejman RG-6. The third instance of Braids is routed through a Resonator channel of the QMMF-4 which is being FM'ed by the Cwejman D-LFO and run through the third channel of Frames. The master multimode filter output of the QMMF-4 is being sent to the fourth channel of Frames. Various mixing states of the 4 Braids configurations are saved across the 64 available Frame positions. The Cwejman D-LFO is used to modulate the currently active frame while Frames interpolates between positions."

But maybe she can sing in Engrish or Japanish if you hardly train her :D"
