SH-2 PLUG-OUT for Roland AIRA SYSTEM-1 Synthesizer - Roland Australia Promo Video

Published on Sep 30, 2014 Roland Australasia

Airas on eBay

"This video was made using only sounds from the SH-2 PLUG-OUT for the AIRA SYSTEM-1 Synthesizer. *HEADPHONES RECOMMENDED*

The SH-2 PLUG-OUT Software Synthesizer is a total reproduction of the classic SH-2 Synthesizer from 1979. Renowned for its raw vintage tone, the SH-2’s dual VCO plus sub oscillator configuration dishes out devastatingly fat basses, edgy leads, and wild effects.

The SH-2 PLUG-OUT Software Synthesizer is an incredibly precise recreation that leverages Roland’s decades-old expertise and deep knowledge of the original analog units. Like other products in the AIRA series, this new SH-2 uses Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) technology to faithfully capture the fine details of the SH-2’s sound, right down to the behavior and interaction of the individual analog circuits.

Everything has been reproduced exactly, from the VCF which is capable of self-oscillation to the attack and long decay characteristics of the steep envelope. The unique harmonic makeup and pitch wavering are present as are the complex interactions between parameters that result from the original analog circuit design. Even behaviors that occur only in analog circuitry are accurately reproduced, like the subtle effect on tonality when the user tweaks parameters unrelated to the actual tone being produced.

There are even some new features that were not available on the original. This new SH-2 has a VCO range that is expandable to 64', two envelopes, reverb, delay and crusher effects, Autobend with support for reverse actions, and a tempo-syncable arpeggiator."

"iProphet recreates the unique sound of the classic Sequential Circuits Prophet VS synthesizer. The Prophet VS's rareness and classic digital sound make it a mainstay for those who can find them and a seemingly out or reach dream for those who cannot. The sound is purely classic crisp digital sound that easily stands on its own, but at the same time is the perfect compliment to the sound of analog synthesizers. It brings the crystaline vintage sound of four digital oscillators and allows sculpting them using a creamy & warm multimode filter. You can morph the sound of the 4 oscillators using the joystick or the vector mode and the vector envelope.

The iProphet is great for evolving pads, sharp leads and super punchy digital bass sounds and comes with over 500 presets created by some of todays best sound designers. You can also swap presets between iProphet and Arturia's Prophet V synthesizer which allows you to work on the iPAD and finish in the DAW of your choice.

iProphet supports Core MIDI, interapp-audio as well as Audiobus technologies for perfect integration.

iProphet is also a Tabletop Ready app. You can use it exclusively or along side your favorite Tabletop instruments.

Arp Avatar Vintage Analog Guitar Synthesizer SN 2223-1360

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Certainly one of the nicest Avatars today. Serial number 2223-1360 which is the highest I know of and it was probably one of the last made. Looks crisp, a few scuffs here and there, but near mint and even the leatherette sides hardly have a mark on them. This one might actually have boards from a late model Odyssey in it, as they were restored at the same time, are identical and were possibly interchanged. About 5 years back, the boards were throughly bathed, all tantalum caps replaced, the sliders cleaned with isopropanol / lubricated with a silicone base and everything calibrated. It's really nice and not needed any work since. I've not tried a guitar pickup with it, but there's no functional issues with the synth section, and everything works quite well. The 'synth output' jack works independent of a guitar connection. Theres a 1/4" external input to the VCF and VCA, and CV/GATE/TRIG in outs that will re-trigger the AD portion of the envelope. No mods present. It comes with a few extras:

-The original factory printed service manual
-Hex pick up
-3 replacement sliders on of each value it takes
-Male and female connectors for the pickup cable. The 6 pin DIN is standard, available at mouser/digikey etc, but these are hard to find."

"Yes, this is /that/ VCS-3, the instrument used by Delia Derbyshire, Pink Floyd (e.g., "On the Run"), Jean Michel Jarre, Todd Rundgren, Hawkwind, Roxy Music, King Crimson, and The Who--just to name a few.

If you're interested in bidding on an instrument this pricey, then it is because you know what it truly is: /priceless/.

This particular VCS-3 (see pictures) has the following cosmetic problems: some of the knobs are missing their brass covers and one of the matrix pegs is missing. The fool who owned it before me added some kind of portamento button to the keyboard, so I'm just writing the keyboard off (i.e., not really factoring it into the price). The keyboard /does/ work, however, and I'll include my homemade Jones connector in with the lot...

The VCS itself works fine, v/oct control of each VCO, envelope trigger, etc., using the connectors in the back. I've only been able to explore this instrument a little: sufficed to say, every parameter sounded to be working (the reverb is especially interesting, very "Radiophonic workshop" sounding).

The thing is too special for words, but I just can't afford to sit on it now, supposing their may be someone out there willing to pay top dollar for a rare piece of musical history...

Garfield Electronics LOT (2) Doctor Flick & Mini Doc

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

"DOCTOR FLICK:

"Clicks are produced in 24 frames per second calibration for American and European film scoring when the VIDEO switch is off. United States models will operate in 30 frames per second calibration for video scoring when the VIDEO switch is activated. European models produce 25 per seconds calibration when the VIDEO switch is on.

Tempo in the selected calibration is set thru the three digit rotary switch assembly which indicates tens of frames, frames and 8ths of frames. Additionally, click rates of 1/16th or 1/32nd frame resolution may be specified by the +1/16 and + 1/32 switches. When either or both of these switches are active, the tempo indicated by the rotary switch assembly is augmented by these frame values.

To sync the internal metronome place all sequencers and drum machines in Play mode. All instruments will commence to play upon the beat which follows the pressing of the DOCTOR FLICK PLAY switch. To stop, press the PLAY switch again.

To synchronize to a click track on tape, activate the SYNC switch, connect the click from tape to PULSE IN, and set DOCTOR FLICK tempo controls to match tempo. PLAY switch will cue in or out on the beat as with internal sync operation, and the START switch will cue in or out immediately.

The metronome is started or stopped with the START switch. Optionally, the metronome can be started by application of a pulse of at least 0.7 Volts to the front or back panel EXT TRIG input.

Click output is available at both front and back panel OUT jacks. Loudness is set by the LEVEL control. Both outputs are low impedance and can drive headphones directly.

Sequencers and drum machines are synchronized thru their Clock or Sync inputs by connection to the appropriate DOCTOR FLICK output.

To create individual triggers from audio, connect audio source to PULSE IN jack. Connect TRIGGER to arpeggiator, gate, or individual drum trigger inputs. Adjust audio input level for compatibility. Plug all the way into the TRIGER jack to obtain rising edge triggers, half way for falling edge triggers.

This device can be switched for AC power sources from 115 to 230 Volts.

The cap of the Level-rotary is missing as well as the LED of the PLAY switch."

Connect start output to start/stop footswitch inputs for automatic reset. Click output provides a quarter note metronome tick. Connect output of either channel to arpeggiator clock inputs. Select one of eleven rhythmic values with rotary switch. Invert offsets rhythm by half its value, useful for stereo effects. For sync to tape, record a device clock output on a tape track. To use, connect recorded device clock to Mini Doc input. To obtain individual triggers, connect drum track to any input jack. Set channel one rotary switch fully counter clockwise. Adjust drum track level for compatibility. Triggers appear at the channel one output. Connect power cord to any AC outlet of 100 to 250 volts.'"

FutureRetro Mobius Sequencer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The Mobius is a one-track sequencer designed to control virtually any type of synthesizer or sound module ever created. It has the ability to record and/or transmit MIDI, control voltages, DIN sync and more. It can be used with rarest of vintage synths to the latest MIDI equipment. It offers a simple, intuitive, classic drum machine-like programming interface and can be used to sequence in real time, as a step-sequencer, or even a MIDI-to-CV/Gate or DIN converter.

There are 256 patterns in its memory. Information recorded includes note duration, pitch, accent, glide, loop point, and time signature. Patterns can be edited on-the-fly using copy/paste, pattern shifting, pattern transposing, multiple pattern cueing, and LED chase. It can store up to 16 songs with a maximum of 3580 measures per song. Songs may be chained to play one after the other for extended performances.

The Mobius gives you that vintage sequencer style control of your analog or MIDI synth. Besides MIDI, it features V/OCT CV OUT, HZ/V CV OUT, +12v GATE OUT (switchable for positive or negative type gate), +12v TRIGGER OUT, +5v ACCENT OUT, +5v CLOCK OUT (for arpeggiators, analog sequencers or divider circuits), and +5v CLOCK RESET OUT (for resetting analog sequencers or dividers). And with its Accent and Glide/Portamento effects it's more than ready to accurately and authentically control your TB-303, or act as a MIDI-bridge between the 303 and your MIDI devices. Of course, it can also act as a MIDI-Interface for your other analog CV/Gate/DIN gear too. Slave the Mobius or use it as a Master via MIDI, CV, Gate, Analog Clock and DIN sync. Patterns created in the Mobius and FR-777 are inter-changeable."
