The Passenger with MATRIXSYNTH T

via exclaim.ca

"Run by CiTR host Gareth Moses, More Than Human is one of Vancouver's most interesting labels. The fledgling outfit already boasts diverse experimental EPs from the likes of German electronic music legend Dieter Moebius, Planet Mu associate Ekoplekz, and London A/V artist Time Attendant. This pagan inspired 'Winter Ritual' gave fans a glimpse at its past, present and future.

Kicking off the evening was frequent Longwalkshortdock and cEvin Key collaborator Phil Western. Sitting in the back corner of the stage, partially obscured by several folding tables covered in electronic paraphernalia, he started with an ambient soundscape that recalled Boards of Canada, building to deeper droning IDM by the end. It had a vibrant metropolitan kosmische sound, with his pulsing bass guitar swimming amidst the layers.

From there, Western assumed the role of sound guy to mix Sinoia Caves and the Passenger. Jesse Creed (aka the Passenger) is a longtime member of the MTH family, having been the name on their very first release, (Negative Object, from 2013, but both Creed and Jeremy Schmidt (aka Sinoia Caves) should be a big part of its future, with the artists slated to release the first two full-lengths on the label in the next year or so..."

Berlin '89 -Celebration track- on Volca Keys + Electribe + MT25d

Published on Nov 8, 2014 Arrayzable

"November 9, 1989, 25 years ago. I was just a kid, but I remember how the news was well received - nobody thought this would ever happen. It was great news that marked the beginning of the reunion of Germany and eventual the end of the Cold War.

This track is based around a bassline on the Volca Keys sequenced by the Electribe ESX-1 (drums and everything else) and some impro soloing on the MT25d.

The YouTube avatar is a picture of my Electribe with a toy Trabant and some pieces of the Berlin Wall bought in Berlin in 1990 :)"

Ieaskul F. Mobenthey Eurorack Modules From Ciat-Lonbarde's Peter Blasser

via Control

"Peter Blasser's - Ieaskul F. Mobenthey modules are now In-Stock. Couldn't be happier to have Peter's stuff in-stock, he's been pushing the limits of instrument design and the philosophy behind it for years with Ciat-Lonbarde and very much encompasses the ideals of what we find inspiring about synthesis, electronics and the makers who make them. Limited Qty available."

Details on each, captured for the MATRIXSYNTH archives, follow. You'll find a video of them previously posted here.

"Ieaskul F. Mobenthey - Denum

The Denum module is essentially a bounds/bounce oscillator. It has the “triangle core” circuitry used in many
oscillators, but it adds a correlated bounds modulation, according to the concept (see below). Here, bounds and
bounce are each given equal treatment, with separate linear and exponential controls and inputs. In addition,
this module has a fully featured bi-polar VCA with complimentary inputs, to get you quickly going sending
“bb-objets” out the left and right channels.

Denum is an 8HP Eurorack module that runs on +12 and -12 volts. Attach power connector positive to “+” and
negative to “-”. Failure to follow proper power polarity will result in instant destruction of unit.

Looking at the front panel of Denum, note that inputs are marked by copper fill. There are three main sections:
bounce, bounds, and the VCA. Bounce is above bounds to emphasize the numerator/denominator relationship
of the two. Each of the two has exactly the same inputs and knobs. The “basis” knob sets the base rate or
position for bounds. There is a linear control input, marked by a a caret. Linear modulation is an alternative
input for pre-enveloped audio, since it has no attenuverter. However, the exponential control input is tied to an
attenuverter, marked by a characteristic bow-tie. An attenuverter works like this: at noon the modulations are
nulled out, they have no effect; clockwise from there they increase in intensity, with positive input meaning
“more”; to the counter-clockwise direction, modulations increase as well, but with negative input meaning
“more”. This knob is essential to controlling how much, and in which direction, your modulations apply.
Between the bounds and bounce areas, there is a range switch. When in middle position, Denum runs at a
standard audio rate. Pointing downward is a low audio rate, and pointing upwards is a definite CV, lowest rate.

The triangle output speaks the position of the waveform in voltage, and square expresses the frequency in terms of
negative and positive 10 volts. The triangle output is bussed into the left and right audio inputs of the VCA,
at bottom. Either can be swapped out for external audio energies, via the “left, right signal inserts”. The “left,
right VCA inputs” are for controlling the amplitude of the signals, with either a linear or exponential mapping. If the
left input is greater than right, sound goes out the “left out”. If right is greater than left, sound goes out the
“right out”. The voltage amount of difference maps to loudness in these channels. The “linear, expo switch”
chooses linear when cocked up, as marked by a caret, and exponential when cocked down, as marked by a
rounded form. There is an optional mute when the switch is in the middle.

About Bounds/Bounce

PolyKrell Rby Dcramer by dcramer

"Interesting take on the Krell patch using a Shapeshifter to create a chordal harmony part. Lead voice is AFG to uFold to uMod to Korgasmatron.

The Poly Krell patch uses only one Maths with one side cycling to provide the VC Env and tempo changing clock that in turn triggers the other side of Maths, used as an envelope for the chordal voice. Maths also clocks the A-149 which provides the random pitches and a two random control voltage which are separately summed to twin LFOs to create the two control voltages that control the rate of both Maths attack and decay separately. The LFOs are frequency modulated by the slower of the clocked random voltages. The chordal voice is controlled the same way but is randomly sample and held from the melody four times less frequently than the melody and the chord type is cycled through four different types. The lead voice is a simple waveform being wavefolded, ring modulated by itself and filtered, with the Maths envelope subtly modulating the folder and filter to create the almost clarinet/bassoon type articulations. The trick to the patch is in tuning the Maths to give you the range of tempo changes you want and the random pitch range you want and in tuning in the range of folder and filter in the voice channels. Basically the patch is a variation on a combination of Strange's Dream Machine and Barton's Krell patch with the addition of the chordal oscillator."

"A classic Korg Delta DL-50 analogue synth that has just undergone refurbishment to fix the regular issue with this model, which is where the string section works fine but no sound from synth section. The transconductance amplifiers have been replaced with the newer higher spec LM13700N device and all the filter capacitors adjacent to these devices have been replaced (the filters for the resonance and cut off frequency controls).

The synth is now fully working as it should and will not be prone to this failure in the future."

MFB MegaZwerg Semi Modular Analogue Midi/CV Synthesizer & MFB 64 Step Analogue Midi/CV Sequencer. Excellent condition, complete with patch cables, power supply, power adapter (1 supplied) and other consecution cables. This Synth is great for someone already into or looking to get in to modular synthesis. Please read the blurb below and see how much of a beast this thing really is. Happy bidding.

'The oscillator offers triangle, saw tooth and rectangle waveform shapes. Its pitch can be set over an octave range using a trim-pot. Pitch is controlled by its CV-input using sequencers or keyboards. The output is prewired to the Y-input of the ring modulator, which is built analogue unlike the unit found in Kraftzwerg. The ring modulator may also be used with two external signals.

The state-variable multimode-filter runs with 12 dB slope per octave and offers Lo-, Hi- and Bandpass-modes as well as notch-filtering and resonance up to self-oscillation. Both, cutoff and resonance can be modulated using dedicated CV-inputs. In addition, a pitch-dependent cutoff-frequency control can be achieved using the key follow function. Key follow is prewired to key-CV respectively MIDI-pitch.
