Vectr 2.0 Experimental Session

Published on May 3, 2015 Matt Heins

"Vectr pairs well with Make Noise gear for some experimental noodling. This video features Vectr firmware 2.0. Vectr is generating clock beginning with the tap tempo set up at the very beginning. The left Vectr is controlling the Phonogene on the left. The right Vectr is controlling the MMG filter and the Erbe-Verb on the right. The left Vectr is generating clock which is fed to all other module's clock input. The result is sonic awesomeness. Make that with your plug-in!"

littleBits + MicroBrute = Rhythm Generator

Published on May 3, 2015

"In this video littleBits is used to make a three output device (CV Step Sequence, Gate and Noise) that makes a fun Rhythm Generator when combined with an Arturia MicroBrute. The MicroBrute sequencer is not used in this configuration, and tempo is controlled by a knob on the littleBits Micro Sequencer.

Interestingly, in constructing this I discovered that the littleBits CV module can be used as an audio output for noise from the Random module.

via the seller: "I bought this 3 years ago and performed with it on stage in my Genesis Tribute 3 times and did some recording with it as well.

The Quadra sounds absolutely amazing. Here is a multitrack demo recording done with only Quadra - I'm sure you will agree this thing puts out. You cannot get this sound on just any analog keyboard...

The only functional issue is the AT Controller (After Touch) is not working. This is very common on these instruments. I'm not going to have it repaired but I can honestly say, I had no use for it myself - the synth delivered in every way I expected."

Serge Modular Synth Voice Panel

"Mint, only been in home studio briefly. Built by COA-Modular in San Francisco. Circuits are Serge mainly and CGS.

Here is a description:
The "Voice and Logic" panel is a great panel, the Oscillator tracks well and has a really good range. The Dual Transient generator is a super flexible module. it can be a AR transient generator, VC slew limiter, VC LFO (variable slope triangle and rectangular waveforms), VC audio oscillator, VC trigger delay, VC clock, VCLPF, VC pulse divider, Envelope Follower. The Pulse Divide and Boolean Logic add a ton of rhythmic mayhem and fun. The Mixer and Dual VCA are crucial. The 2 '73 filters are great, they are really raw and can also do nice kicks and percussion. The Triple Wave Multiplier is another awesome and flexible module, here is a description of it: "I was going to say 'audio wave shaping', but like everything else on the Serge, it can be used for CV also. Top section is a simple linear ac-coupled VCA with switchable mild clipping, handy for modulation or use as spare VCA. Middle section sounds 'something like' a very wild, resonant filter sweep, but that description doesn't do it much justice. Waveform fattener? If you look carefully through the archives on Analogue Heaven you'll find a thorough discussion on what the middle section does, in terms of how the waveform is 'folded over'. The bottom section is very versatile, regular and comparator-driven (pulse wave) outputs deliver woodwind type effects ranging from very subtle to 'bang you on the head.' Electrically, it's a variable full-wave rectifier with level compensation". The CV Processor is two 3-input DC mixers, each input having an inverting attenuator, and with a master DC offset knob, -5 to +5 volts."

New Elka Synthex 2 Digital Desktop Synth From Mario Maggi in the Works

This one is in via swissdoc and indirectly via Florian Anwander on the AH email list. This is not the new analog Elka Synthex clone from the new Finnish Generalmusic. This is however from the creator of the original Elka Synthex, Mario Maggi, and it is all digital. An interesting side note mentioned below is that Mario Maggi owns the Synthex name. Not sure what impact if any this might have on the upcoming Generalmusic Elka Synthex remake.

An Update: via swissdoc. It appears a filing for the name SYNTHEX was made on April 29, just three days ago. The filing is under category 15 which covers: "Electronic musical instruments; Electronic synthesizers; Electronic musical apparatus and instruments; Electric and electronic musical instruments; Mechanical, electric and electronic musical instruments; Electronic apparatus for synthesising music [musical instrument]."

"Hello to everyone,

my name is Enrico Cosimi, I'm the author of the text on ACM concerning the Synthex 2. I have been in touch, here in Rome/Italy, with Mario from the late Eigthies and, from the mid Nineties, I'm working with Mario on his "version two"; as you can imagine, Mario is a very very very busy kind of genius, who conceived and realized a lot of third party non-musical items (especially for telecommunications and health). I am not allowed to reveal all the data concerning the new Synthex 2 (b.t.w., it will be a digital equipment: would you dare to conceive an analog instrument with 128 LFOs and 64 EGs in the same box?), but - trust me - when it will be done, it will be a GREAT machine.

Moog Sub 37: why you need one...

Published on May 3, 2015 Boele Gerkes

"Literally the first sound I dialed in on this just purchased Moog Sub 37.
You're hearing raw Moog sound through a cheap Electro Harmonix #1 Echo pedal (digital delay) which adds a little bit more movement to the running arp.
The organic distortion this synth can produce is unreal."
