Rheyne - 0-COAST Jam (Make Noise 0-COAST + (Moog Mother-32 x 3))

Published on Jun 28, 2016 Rheyne

"Triggering a Make Noise 0-COAST and 3x Moog Mother-32 synths with MIDI clips from Ableton Live. All audio is from the 0-COAST and Mothers (bass and pad from the Mothers, arpeggiated notes from the 0-COAST). Only MIDI notes are being sent from Ableton, with all modulations coming from the synths. An iConnectMIDI4+ is sending MIDI to the four units via MIDI DIN connections. Reverb and delay is from Ableton.

Audio is directly from the mixer, and all LEDs from the synths in the video are in-sync with the audio. Download a slightly longer version of the original 24-bit/48khz WAV used for this video at SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/rheyne/0coastj..."

606 Steps In The Sand - Roland TR-8 606 Expansion

"My first exploration of the new 606 update to the superb Roland TR-8 drum machine. I've owned a few 606 in my life and, while this is not exactly the same as the original, this kit is just as much fun! The synths are from Reaktor."

Akai Rhythm Wolf Analog Drum Machine

Published on Jun 28, 2016 Synth Universe

"I have been sitting on this one for a while, not sure what to make of it. This video goes through the individual sounds, including the bass synth. My second video goes through pattern playing, muting, etc. I know it's not a well liked machine. It looks nice. The sound is OK. The Howl feature is OK as well if used sparingly. It seems to put gain on the output, creating a lot of noise."

Tonestar 2600 - Arpeggiation Daved

Published on Jun 28, 2016 StudioElectronics

"Sequential-ed (arpeggiated) Tonestar 2600 featuring the feedback feature; won't you? A fairly throbbing, bubbling, transient-heavy affair with a touch of outs-to-outs patching: makes X-Mod/notch/highpass filter tones 'attainably' enjoyable where the exoteric architecture would seemingly preclude it."

Disco Bassline with the SH-101, Linn 9000, TR-606.

Published on Jun 28, 2016 Jordan Passmore

"This demo is of the Roland SH-101 (doing the bassline), Linn 9000 (most of the drums, including kick, congas, tamb, etc) and Roland TR-606 (high hats, cymbals, snare). Each piece of gear is running off of it's own sequencer with the Roland SBX-80 providing the master clock. There is a slight bit of Korg MS-20m doing a randomized arpeggio, which is connected to a Mutable Instruments MIDIpal. The delay used is the Boss DM-2w, the mixer is the Roland M-16E, and the audio interface is the Roland Super UA."

Make Noise 0-Coast First Test (sneak preview)

Published on Jun 28, 2016 Genshi Media Group

"This is the 0-Coast completely raw with no effects and without knowing what all it can do or how it works... this was literally shot 5 Minutes after unboxing! I just wanted to get the experience on video as quickly as possible. I will be doing much better and more thorough videos in the next day or two, so stay tuned! And feel free to leave comments on what you would like to see me demo with the Make Noise 0-Coast!"

New Course on Soundfly: Live Clicks & Backing Tracks

This one in via MATRIXSYNTH sponsor, Soundfly. Their new course, Live Clicks & Backing Tracks, teaches you how to sync your DAW with hardware and on-stage gear to trigger clicks and backing tracks in performance. It's not super synthy but it hits the same buttons, with both in and out-of the box solutions to the same problems synth players come across.

Details:

"NEW FREE COURSE TEACHES HOW TO INCLUDE LIVE CLICK TRACKS AND BACKING TRACKS INTO YOUR PERFORMANCE

Creativity can strike at any moment, and if it strikes in the studio, make sure you're prepared to take your new sound to the stage! Soundfly's new course is a must for touring bands looking to up their game and professionalize their on-stage performance rig. Live Clicks and Backing Tracks takes students through the process of preparing their studio tracks for playback in a live setting using Ableton Live, setting up in-ear systems, the gear that is both necessary and encouraged for a full band to make use of their clicks and tons of helpful tips from the experts themselves!

This is the first-ever course of its kind, it is free and it's one of Soundfly's most comprehensive, and user-engaging courses to date. Taught by Alex Wilson, a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer from Sydney, Australia and the founder of the hugely popular post-rock band Sleepmakeswaves, the course can be accessed at any time, from anywhere, and students are welcomed to go through it at their own pace. Resource materials include videos, screenshot tutorials, MIDI click and backing samples and some simple prompts to get you started tracking for Live today!"

The following is a collection of Fairlight videos from Peter Vogel's YouTube channel. The first two are on the original Fairlight. The third is a playlist of the Fairlight CMI30A reissue, and the final is a playlist of the Peter Vogel CMI App which featured a CMI30A splash screen. Note Fairlight and Peter Vogel Instruments are two separate companies. Via Wikipedia:

"After rebirthing Fairlight Instruments in August 2009[7] and releasing the CMI-30A, the 30th anniversary model of the Fairlight CMI,[8] and Fairlight iOS apps for the Apple iPhone and iPad,[9] Vogel renamed Fairlight Peter Vogel Instruments in July 2012. When announcing the name change, the company foreshadowed a new range of synthesisers was being developed.[10]"

via residentadvisor.net:

"Both artists, who are close friends, share a deep passion for the Buchla modular synth. Ciani's interest in the instrument stretches back decades—it's a newer obsession for Smith, who used it prominently on her recent album, EARS.

The Buchla instrument features prominently on Sunergy, with Smith performing on the Buchla 200e and Ciani using a Buchla Music Easel. The album was recorded in Ciani's home in Bolinas, California, which overlooks the Pacific Coast. According to RVNG, the record is "shaped by slow, pulsing forms and sinuous, melodic sequences that conjure both an oceanic world and the unlimited sound made possible by modular processing." An accompanying documentary on the album by Sean Hellfritsch will also come out when Sunergy sees release on September 16th."

"We are graced by the presence of this superior instrument, a fully functioning and lovely Roland Juno 106. The chips have all be refurbished by the eminent Synth Spa, so there are many years ahead for this glassy and diaphanous polysynth. We have had it additionally serviced on our end: replaced the battery, had the power supply recapped, and reloaded the factory presets. All sliders, switches and knobs are smooth and noise free, we're very pleased with this Juno."

ADX-1

ANALOG DRUM MACHINE

Mode Machines brought again the ADX 1, a powerful 5 channel Analogue Drum Expander with individual outputs, MIDI control and infinite amount of sound tones thanks to its generous amount of knobs to control its parameters.
The 5 Channels provide different sound palettes.

We saw mention of the Mode Machines ADX1 back in NAMM of 2015. I ran a quick search on the site for ADX1, and there hasn't been much between now and then. The following are some details via Mode Machines. The ADX1 is based on the original MAM ADX1.

"Mode Machines brought again the ADX 1, a powerful 5 channel Analogue Drum Expander with individual outputs, MIDI control and infinite amount of sound tones thanks to its generous amount of knobs to control its parameters.
The 5 Channels provide different sound palettes.

Metal: Metal is used to create cymbal sounds and consists of two different metallic-sounding Generators. Two filters, Envelope/modulation options, Decay and Release.

HiHat: HiHat consists of one metallic-sounding noise generator and one “clean” signal, Pitch control, mix, modulation, filter, Envelope modulation, Decay and Release.

Snare: The sound of Snare is created by one metallic-sounding noise generator through two band pass filters connected in parallel, Decay and Release.

Synth: Is used to create sounds like bells or synthesizers and consists of 3 sinus Oscillators. FM and Bend for a wide palette of sounds, Attack and Release.

Bass: Consists of one sinus oscillator, with pitch control. Additional Overtones can be created by frequency modulation. Attack simulates the 'Pluck' of a bass string, Release to control the length and Distortion available for dirtier sounds."
