"In my very early years, I designed a synthesizer called the UB1 which was a combination of a synth, electric piano and organ. Nothing great compared with today’s standards but the UB1 was my first step into the world of music and electronics.

As a passionate musician myself, I always wanted to design another synthesizer ever since. Around 3 years ago I sat down with our brilliant Midas engineers and we came up with an incredible concept for a new synthesizer that is so revolutionary, that it will be a world’s first in at least 4 major aspects.

We will soon be making the first announcements and hopefully ship the synthesizer later this year.

If I could nominate one product, then it is this new synthesizer, a truly amazing instrument that is very close to my heart. I am extremely proud of the Midas engineers who put their heart and soul into it.

Maths as a Clock Divider

"This patch utilizes the Make Noise Maths slew capabilities in a rhythmic and helpful way. The Maths on the right is just providing clocks which are patched into the Trigger inputs of Channel 1 and 4 of the Maths on the left. If the Rise amount makes the envelope longer than the next Trigger, it won't retrigger until the next gate, allowing one to use it as an analog clock divider. Both channels of Maths are being clocked at the same rate, and as the Rise value changes, the clock division is decided, showing some rhythmic ratios such as 1:2, 2:3, 2:4, and 3:4. The End of Cycle and End of Rise clock outputs are then sent to strike an Optomix for a quick percussive envelope."


Maths as a (waveshaping) VCA

"This patch is similar to the Clock Divider patch, but instead of sending Triggers and using the slewed envelope to offset the Trigger outputs, this patch uses the Gate input for Audio, and slews it completely until no sound is outputted. The output of an oscillator is sent into the Gate input on Maths. As one moves the Rise and Fall knobs, one can hear the timbre shifting slightly, with some locations cutting out the sound completely. If the output of Channel 4 is patched into the Rise CV, it can modulate the Rise control to cut out the sound. In order to get the correct ranges, the output on Channel 4 may have to be fully negative (by use of the polarizer knob). Great as a VCA in a pinch!"

"Featured for sale is a fine example of the vintage handmade FRANK EVENTOFF SONICA portable Electric Serge Synthesizer.

It features 15 Keys for Notes, an additional 1/2 Step Touch Button ("tone" and "slider" buttons are not working properly), Master Volume and On/Off Knob, 1/8" Output (for external amplifier connection), Key Adjuster knob, and Kill Switch.

All knobs and switches are in Excellent Operating Condition with the exception of the "slider" and "tone" buttons occasionally cutting out. It is in Good Vintage Cosmetic Condition (see photos), with normal signs of previous careful use on its body.


This Unique late 1970's instrument is a rare find. It is numbered #248 of only 600 that were made in the USA. Made of Solid Wood, with Brass Trim and Engraved Brass Plate (see photos). It comes protected in its included fiber-board case."

"Another go with almost everything running. The Arturia Microbrute is the baseline, with some added noise from the modular. The Beatstep pro is sequencing the tap-lfo on peaks, which is send to the microbrutes cutoff. Use audio pluggiator (finally on screen (ish)) is the repetitive acid line. Korg Volca sample is playing kicks and some wood block things. Korg er-1 is the hats and short snare. The high melody is created on the modular by a Dixie II through the Doepfer wasp filter with a light random voltage to the cutoff. Fast hats is created with noise through a vca, opened with a ad envelope from the Intellijel Quadra. Korg Microkorg lays some chords.

The 0-Coast is described as a synthesizer that doesn't adhere to either East or West Coast synthesis types, but so far I'm thinking that it sort of does head to the west somewhat.
