Improvisation LXVIII: DSI Prophet '08

"This bit of music is only a demonstration of a sound. The piece, which was played entirely on one keyboard, uses a patch that includes no less than five types of modulation. It demonstrates how dense and immense the Prophet '08 can sound. All the more reason to combine a keyboard with a module...or two!

"This amazing synthesizer is in perfect condition. It comes with its original box and manual. The original Moog patch cables are unused (I already had lots of patch cables to use with it). Two 1/4" to Cinch-Jones cables are included (purchased from Synthesizers.com) to allow you to trigger the envelopes without the keyboard. This synthesizer is a joy to sequence.

The Model 15 is a careful replica of the original. Moog painstakingly hand assembled these modular reissues with vintage parts. The sound is huge--it is like having a modular Model D, but with the legendary fixed filter bank, full ADSR's, and more."

"This is a rough draft / demo version of my 3rd track from the Lydia EP, Transient. I can't wait to multi track this one, I'm going to really have fun adding more variation in the drums, strange sounds and samples. The Roland Boutique JP-08 and Korg Volca Beats sleep on this jam. Korg Volca Bass, Korg Volca Keys and Roland Boutique JU-06 all take on various synth lines. The Arturia Microbrute supplies the low end sub style bass while the Teenage Engineering PO-12 takes on the beats. I play the Microkorg live for the pads.

RML Electron Fuzz Custom + Make Noise 0-Coast... Further Explorations (in three parts)

"These are further, quick, improvised explorations of the Retro Mechanical Labs Electron Fuzz Custom pedal and the Make Noise 0-Coast analog synth. These are all just rough tests as I continue to learn these recently acquired bits of gear. Notes below...

In Part One, I'm using the RML Electron Fuzz Custom without any instrument input; to create a dark ambient soundscape thanks to the Electron Fuzz's "Parasitic Frequency [Self] Oscillation". The Output of the fuzz is going into the Strymon El Capistan dTape Echo and then into the Eventide H9 for a deep dark reverb.

Part Two adds the Make Noise 0-Coast synth and the Korg SQ-1 sequencer to play a little grungy diddy...

Part Three we take away the sequencer and use the 0-Coast's self generative capabilities through patching to create a dark, pulsating, ambient drone.

"This is my first live jam with the Electron Analog Four. Everything was recorded live thru Overbridge, with audio from Prophet 08 and Sub Phatty being processed by A4's internal effects. Once again, inspired by the work of Nick Batt's live jam (incredible BTW).

Sequence was pre-programmed inside the A4, and the synths were played live on top. There are some knob movements on the A4, which is used in performance mode.

"This is the later model Q with OS 3.02 and an updated OLED display in excellent condition. There a few minor scuffs here an there, but nothing too noticeable. It was stored under a custom dust cover (included) while not in use.

If you're looking for one, I probably don't need to tell you that's it is a fantastic sounding subtractive synthesizer with three oscillators that includes wavetables on two of the oscillators (the classic "Alt 1" and "Alt 2" wavetables)

This one is in excellent condition but does not come with the original manual or box. A power cord is supplied."

The Batumi and Dixie ii+ are used for low-frequency oscillation for modulation. A fuller performance of the patch is available as 'Modular Expedition 23.'

"This is a very rare chance to get one of the coolest, weirdest, quirkiest and most amazing non modular that sounds like a modular synth...whew...

If you read online about this synth, you'll fine the same verbage and thoughts. It is unlike ANY other synth... the architecture is very different than any other synth, so if youve never played a CS30, you'll find yourself saying "huh??? What is that?... a LOT.
Its very much like a modular synth in design and in labeling without the cable patching. The modulation routing alone is mind blowing... you can modulate just about anything in spades... 3, 4, 5 ways of modulating major sections of the synth AT THE SAME TIME... yes, its deep. You can have a sequence being played from one OSC while YOU play the keybed with the other OSC. I can go on and on... There are too many cool things of this synth that are unlike any other.

As you can see, its in VERY good cosmetic condition too."

Patch Notes #4 - Odd Clocks With Make Noise René

"Here's an example of a one of the more popular Eurorack sequencers, Make Noise René, modulating the pattern position using stepped random voltages.

Tempi is routed to the X-clock input on René, as well as a 16th note triplet division clocking the Wogglebug. The stepped random output from the Wogglebug is routed to the Y-CV input on the René.

When the Chaos knob on the Wogglebug is set to zero, the longer notes play back the root position, bass line notes along the X axis (left to right). As the Chaos knob rises, the 16th note triplet stepped random voltages begin to effect the Y axis position, creating the effect of arpeggiation.

Tempi is also routed to the Ornament & Crime, which is generating 24-step Euclidean rhythms to both the hihat and the snare-ish sound (a noise-based hihat from Scooper, and a snare from the Basimilus Iteritas.

Tempi is also clocking the Varigate which is driving a kick drum from Braids. All of the sound generating modules are routed to the Mix4, and then through Warps running a delay from the Parasite firmware.

The 0-Coast is receiving a clock from Tempi as well. The internal stepped random function is mult-ed, then sent to the Overtone and Multiply section inputs. The Oscillator square wave is routed to trigger the Slope section, which is tuned to generate sub-oscillator tones, then Slope output to balance input so the signal can be mixed between the sub tone and the overtone signal.

"An Experimental Ambient Electro demo made with the Kurzweil K-2000 and an Eurorack Modular System. Many short click and cuts from the Modular were sampled into an AKAI S 3000 and sequenced with Cubase. Some lines were sequenced and recorded directly into the DAW. Other lines were played with the MFB Urzwerg. The vocals were processed with the Electrix Warp Factory Vocoder and/or the EMS Vocoder 2000. As always a multitrack recording with some FX."
