DSI Evolver - Evolverheld | Dave Smith Instruments Synthesizer Demonstration

Published on Dec 12, 2016 Sensenwerk

"Just a little Evolver demonstration.
It's an old track from 2008, created using the DSI Desktop Evolver only (except for the drums). I traded it to a Doepfer Dark Energy a while back. Wasn't too happy with it.
Last year I finally got the PolyEvolver Keyboard (video).
Obviously this can be done with the MEK, too but faster and using real 4-voice polyphony."

"If you like the Korg Polysix but have never heard the Mono/Poly, this is a real treat. Its got 4 voices and each voice has its own set of different waveforms! It can play up to 4 voices in poly mode, but its unison setting is what makes this synth so powerful. imagine 4 stacked voices with their own set of waveforms and parameters. These make, as you can imagine, for some INSANELY epic basses and leads! This synth is in perfect working condition. There are no issues whatsoever and performs flawlessly! There are just some cosmetic scratches, mostly on the corners of the wood panels."

"As you can see, it’s in fantastic shape. It sounds amazing.

Integrates with the modular / CV based setup effortlessly. On-board sequencer is super simple, but also very effective. With all the menu diving and complex onboard sequencing on synths these days, it’s a rare treat to have something immediate that gets results quickly and without much thought at all. With the 101, the real beauty is getting lost in your creativity – not having to think about which button gets you to which menu blah blah blah. It’s all right in front of you here – immediate results. There are lots of tricks to discover that arise from its CV inputs / outputs and Clock In, but that’s for your to discover – I won’t spoil it.

All sliders / pots in tip-top shape, and the slider moves around like it just came out of the box – I’ve seen so many of these units over the years take a beating – broken sliders, missing buttons. That’s not the case with this particular unit – when not in use, the unit has always been turned off and covered to keep dust off the key contacts and also to prevent buildup in/around the sliders. Also included pics of the battery compartment - this can be a major disaster if batteries have leaked out over the years. I’ve never put batteries in this unit, and I don’t believe the previous owner did either."

DSI PRO 2 SNARE DRUM SYNTHESIS TUTORIAL // Synthesize This! Ep.02

Published on Dec 12, 2016 once upon a synth

"Let's try to synthesize a snare drum sound on the DSI Pro 2 synthesizer. The main idea is to simulate the top head, bottom head and snare separetely. We approximate the top and bottom head with triangle or sine oscillators and the snare with white noise. The top and bottom head oscillators have their frequency modulated by an ADSR envelope generator to emulate the response of membrane being struck by a stick. Finally I end with a simple demonstration of what the Pro 2's snare drum sounds like along with a Korg Volca Beats which I've synced via MIDI."

Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas demo

Published on Dec 12, 2016 Perfect Circuit Audio

"The Basimilus Iteritas Alter from Noise Engineering is the improved edition of their famous original. It is a complex drum voice created using six oscillators and one noise source for additive synthesis, with various algorithms deciding on how they modulate, interpolate and combine. In Skin mode, it uses a basic additive synthesizer technique that simulates instruments with less complex overtones. The Metal setting starts adding in cross-modulation between the six oscillators, for much denser and complex waveforms. A Liquid mode has been added to the Basimilus Iteritas Alter for more drippy type drum sounds."

NOISECOLLECTIVE Modular Synth Masterclass Workshop with Gino Robair

NOISECOLLECTIVE is having a modular synth masterclass workshop with Gino Robair. The event will be held at the Mothership club in Turin Italy. You can pick up tickets at NOISECOLLECTIVE here. The following are the details on the event, first in Italian, then English further below.

Verranno presi in esame concetti come primo piano / sottofondo, solista / supporto, controllo gestuale, e intenzione / non-intenzione.

Dr. Blankenstein's "Boom-A-Ring" The Electronic Didgeridoo of the Future !

"This one doesn't need too much explaining, the title really says it all. It's an electronic didgeridoo with the illumiringer effect built into it. There is only one in the world, some will say that's a good time... some might not. You can expect nothing less from a one of a kind prototype. Since I am one of the world's worst didgeridoo players, I thought it best to let her go. I am sure there is someone out there that is a great player and deserves to own this sucker more than myself. Before doing so, I wanted to make a proper video of it (I don;t think I'll be making anymore anytime soon. This one was built years ago). The video is longer than I would have liked it to be, but I had a lot of ground to cover. Feel free to skip to the middle when the real demo action starts."

Korg MiniKorg-700s Vintage Synthesizer with Original Case

"this synth is in amazing condition for its age (1974) with very minor wear the keys and action are in near mint shape and all functions and electronics are working perfectly.

the Korg 700s is the holy grail of the synth punk era, used by everyone from the Cure to the Human League and the Cars.

2 VCOs and a killer filter with stable tuning. very cool little synth

this unit is in excellent condition with very minor wear. you will have a hard time finding one in this shape for its age.

it even comes with its original case and I am throwing in a used synth house midi kit with it that i had installed in my SH-101.

NOTE: it is not installed so it would have to be installed by a synth tech or someone who has experience with soldering and electronics."

Emulator III Rack with Extras

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is the same exact sound and parts as the Emulator III keyboard but in a more portable rack version.

Very few of these rack versions exist and one is not likely to find another one in such nice functional condition and this with all the extras. Cosmetically it is great shape minus some rack rash, but the front is very clean.

The emulator units require an external device connected to it's SCSI connector at the time of powering on. After a successful boot-up there is no problem in data communication over SCSI.

It can be quite difficult to set up the SCSI chain with a large number of equipment (included), and a possible set-up could include the RM45 (44MB removable HDD) and HD300 (300MBHDD), by adding a 24-speed CD-ROM drive and 1GB jaz drive in the universal CD player.

EIII> HD300> RM45> CD-ROM drive> jaz drive with all powered on for OS to boot up from internal HDD.

By adding the jaz drive and a 24x CD-ROM drive removable 1GB, it becomes a high speed and very convenient system setup.

The unit has been upgraded with an OLED display, built in 540MB HDD, external Jaz drive, CD-ROM drive, and makes it a high speed and very convenient system setup.

Bound reference and instruction manuals are included."

"Roland TB 303 in very nice condition. Sparingly used in smoke free studio always kept in its case. Works very smooth and has a fantastic sound.

Comes with an installed Kenton mod which adds sockets for:

CV - provides Volt per Octave control over the oscillator frequency
Gate - controls when notes play (0 volts = note off / >3 volts = note on)
Filter - controls the cutoff frequency of the low pass filter (from aux out of converter)
Accent - turns on or off the accent feature (0 volts = accent off / >3 volts = accent on)
Slide - turns on or off the slide feature (0 volts = slide off / >3 volts = slide on)

It also comes with the Kenton Pro Solo MKII control box which is the hub in between your DAW and the TB 303. This way you can control the TB 303 from your computer in ways not possible just using a 303 as stand alone.
