Elektron Digitakt built in samples and sequencing a Monologue

Published on Jun 1, 2017 Perfect Circuit Audio

"Using the new Elektron Digitakt with 6 tracks of some of the built in samples and 1 midi track sequencing the Korg Monologue. Tweaking some of the filters and the send reverb and delay effects. Some LFO modulation is used and some trig conditions to vary the sequence some.

Digitakt, from Elektron, is a compact digital sampling drum machine that has everything one needs to make beats. With its highly flexible digital architecture, sounds can be manipulated, mangled, chopped, and organized to make any type of rhythms. It has a fully featured live-friendly sequencer that can also be used to sequence external MIDI gear. Elektron's Overbridge is also fully functional in the Digitakt, for an even smoother experience interfacing the Digitakt with computers and other gear.

Win a $1,000 Perfect Circuit Audio Gift Card from Recommended

The following is a guest post from MATRIXSYNTH reader Justin Maxwell, and new sponsor Recommended! You can find their banner on the right.

"Hi Matrixsynth readers & thanks, Matrix, for giving (ok, selling) us a spot this month. Many of you know me as 303 or SOC from Analogue Heaven, MuffWiggler, Electro-Music, and so on. Well, I’ve launched a company and we’re celebrating by giving away a $1,000 Perfect Circuit Audio gift card.

TL;DR:
Know an awesome synth tech? Who refurbished your Juno–106? Who mixed your album? Recommend the people & businesses you trust on Recommended. Each recommendation is one entry towards winning a $1,000 gift card to Perfect Circuit Audio. Click here to enter.

The full story:
Within trusted communities — like the many synth-related forums you visit — we have professionals and businesses we trust and recommend. These recommendations transcend anything the existing directories can provide. I’d never go to Yelp for a synth repair tech. There’s no place to go to for high value recommendations, no way to keep track of who’s the best for repairing an EML–101, find which synth tech is closest to you, or see who’s the most highly recommended tech among your social connections.

Yes, sure, you can “read the archives” but a) nobody does that, b) it’s biased towards complaints, and c) half the time you can’t get in touch with the person anyway. We’re fixing that, building a platform for you to search and discover highly-recommended businesses recommended by your friends, coworkers, neighbors, and family.

Starting out with synths is my way of giving back to the community — although this company’s scope is far bigger than synth techs, it’s where a lot of my ideas started brewing. If it wasn’t for Analogue Heaven, I’d have never found someone to fix my ARP 2600 (Greg Montalbano), and if it wasn’t for MuffWiggler, I’d never have found someone to build my Ornament & Crime (xbted)!

As part of our launch, we’re running a month-long giveaway where every music-related recommendation (e.g., best tech for repairing a fairlight, best DIY module builder, etc.) gets you another entry for a $1,000 gift certificate to Perfect Circuit Audio.

Ready? Awesome. Recommend and enter to win here.

Thanks so much for helping inspire this, and thanks for your recommendations! If you have any thoughts or questions, drop me a line.

Captain Credible Introduces Fantasy Mansion (Metronomicon Audio/Musikkoperatørene)

What Is Fantasy Mansion?

Published on Jun 1, 2017 Captain Credible

"Fantasy Mansion is out on PCB(!)/DL june 16th 2017 on Metronomicon Audio!

meau.bandcamp.com/album/fantasy-mansion"

Fantasy Mansion

"Captain Credible is an electronic musician who also designs and produces his own instruments. This is what happens when people like this release an EP. An EP that is both a collection of recorded works, and a physical musical instrument. The EP, which can also be streamed from the internet, is an epic journey in a landscape of intense electronic music with scattered islands of calm reflection. The physical manifestation of this EP is a circuit board with buttons, a light sensor and a headphone jack. This circuit board can be played as a musical instrument, and the user can easily compose his or her own melodies. It will also generate its own beats and melodies and even occasionally modify those made by the user. It will also synchronize to external hardware like drum machines or sequencers.

This EP is therefore not a finished work, but instead a starting point for further experimentation and expression by the user.

Captain Credible is also known for his eccentric live performanses at home and abroad where he plays his home made blinking pyramids, motion sensing helmets, candles, lasers and magic crystals."

Vintage Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 Rev2 SN 0486

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"For auction here is a vintage Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 Rev2........serial number 486. This a one owner P-5. I purchased this Prophet new, in 1978, and used it for approximately three years. It was then put into storage inside its Anvil case in my warehouse/rehearsal building. That building, which I have occupied for the past four decades was sold last summer, and I got notice I would have to move out. I got the Prophet out last fall, and it would not power up correctly. I shipped it to Wine Country Sequentials in early April. Wine Country has been servicing and modifying Sequential Circuits product since the early 1980's, when the Sequential factory ceased operations. They are considered the Prophet 5 experts. I received delivery back from Wine Country last week, and this Prophet has been refurbished and serviced, and is now ready for a new owner.

The Rev2 Prophets were designed with the revered SSM chips, and are considered by most to be among the warmest, fattest sounding synths ever produced. The sound and flexibility of the Prophet 5's are legendary. This one keeps with that tradition, and sounds incredible."

Insane Synths: Bleep Labs' THINGAMAGOOP (v2)

Published on Jun 1, 2017 daleturner

"THINGAMAGOOP v2: Handmade analog + digital synthesizer you control with light, made by Bleep Labs. About the size of your average "stompbox," Thingamagoop 2 generates digital or analog sounds from an analog VCO, and has an antenna--or LEDacle--sticking out the top, with a light at its end; point it towards or away from the sensor to change the frequency cutoff. Switches and knobs control the source and waveform, as well as an arcade style "kill switch" button on the side to cut audio in/out. But the beauty of this box is its sheer weirdness--white noise, odd frequencies, and sounds; one of the all time best noise machines. (Also has CV in/out to “communicate” with synths.)

In this video, you're hearing it totally "dry," with no effects (and, of course, in mono). Not sure why this "improv" has a couple audio anomalies/artifacts in certain spots. (Other "takes" didn't have this.)

WMD Test Lab Performance - Love Cosmic Love

Published on Jun 1, 2017 WMDevices

"Matt Tanner has many specialties here at WMD. He is the #1 builder of the Performance Mixer, #1 morale booster, and owns the #1 softest dog in the shop, Louis. Matt has been into music as long as he can remember and has been playing drums for 15+ years. After starting to work at the shop a little over a year ago, Matt caught the modular bug hard and has been working on different ways of incorporating his drums into a modular environment

For this performance, Matt is using his Roland TD-11 electronic drum kit with it's MIDI out routed to a Pittsburgh MIDI - CV converter. From there he's got a 3 voice modular set up including WMD and Noise Engineering modules. PDO, Arpitecht, BIA, and the Performance Mixer are at the heart of his rig.

Matt plays music under the name Love Cosmic Love, and is planning to release a new album soon!"
