New Menu Bar Up Top & an Update on Posts You Do Not Want to Miss

Hi everyone. You might notice the featured post thumbnail icons up top are gone. They have been replaced with a FEATURED link which will take you to the individual posts. I also added links for NEW GEAR, and POPULAR POSTS as they are just as relevant. NEW GEAR features product announcements, so you can keep on top of the latest news. POPULAR POSTS are what people are clicking on and sharing out there. There's a top 10 by week, month, and all time. Think of them as the mini "viral" posts on the site. You might be surprised some.

As for why I decided to remove the thumbnails, I go into a little detail this post for those interested. In short, maintenance, errors, and archiving factored in.

Note the USEFUL LINKS section on the top right of the site will remain as well.

The Kola Superdeep Borehole (СГ-3) is a scientific drilling project of the Soviet Union on the Kola Peninsula, inside the Arctic Circle. The project attempted to drill as deep as possible into the Earth's crust. The drilling began on 24 May 1970. СГ-3 reached 12,262 meters [7.62 miles/40229.66 feet] in 1989 and it is the deepest artificial point on Earth. In 1990 drilling was stoped.

In 2008 СГ-3 was abandoned. The Borehole was conserved. Station is placed in a very hard to reach area on Far North and it is slowly collapsing.

For a long time project was top secret, due to which fact there appeared many legends about it. Level of difficulties and technologies that this project involved is comparable with sending the man into space. Amount of data and samples that were obtained during experiments is so huge, that it will be studied for many more decades.]

In 2016 I found in one of abandoned laboratories of the station a roll of punched tapes for computers, that were used on the station to record scientific data. This tape has inspired me to create a sound installation dedicated to СГ-3.

This installation is an automatic sound object that drills stone samples sourced from different depths and uses data from punched tape as the program for controlling the motors.]

In July 2018 I went to visit the station СГ-3, to resume the drilling process after 28 years of downtime.

Matrixharp Prototype MAX/MSP Hardware Controller Interface

matrixharp prototype demo (2015) from Asha Tamirisa on Vimeo.

"short demo of audiovisual controller prototype"

https://ashatamirisa.net/matrixharp

"MATRIXHARP is a prototype controller that rethinks modular interfaces. The interface utilizes stretch sensors to modulate parameters and capacitive sensors to make patch connections. Through this interface, patching and moving through the spectra of parameters becomes a tactile and embodied action, one less concerned with metrics. Patch connections are felt throughout the system through the physical tension of the stretch sensors being pulled and pushed. This interface also evades the 'male' and 'female' language of standard modular patching."

The TB-3 takes a part in the middle and there are plenty of effects via the TC Electronics T1, T2, and Alter Ego x4. Please let me know if you enjoy it by leaving some feedback. Arturia Drumbrute Impact /Rebach Analog VCO GR11 Modular eurorack connect

Published on Sep 25, 2018 Dziam Bass

"Hi Friends.
I connected the modular synthesizer via the built-in clock in Arturia DrumBrute Impact.
I used only one VCO GR11 from Rebach to show how cool it works.
sound Drum FM from Drumbrute Impact I gave to 1 out of 4 an individual out which has on the back of the device and added to the modulation in Erica Synths Black Dual VCF combined with Black Modulator.
I gave some arrangements with the Drumbrute Impact mute for fun.
DrumBrute Impact has quite a lot of distortion on the sum also is built in, so the sounds are very saturated.
clock in Impact is available for master clock from PICO TRIGG, the main clock module in PICO System II from Erica Synths.
it's just a small connection but you can think of what can be if you combine more modulation and this drum machine.!!!"

Noir Et Blanc Vie: Modular Minutes with 4MS

Published on Sep 25, 2018 Noir Et Blanc Vie

"Three really great modules from 4ms, who I might as well admit always have some of the best Eurorack designs around. This is more or less a mini-series of sorts. The Shuffling clock multiplier, Stereo Triggered Sampler and Tapographic Delay, might as well watch them all since there won’t be another video till October 30th BWAHAHAHAAHHAHAAHAH!

Full Transparency 4ms sent me these modules many months ago and did not ask me to review them. I asked them for these to help with the Eurorack for Beginners series, but they were not able to provide them at that time so unfortunately these Modular Minutes are coming quite later than I’d have liked. They allowed me full creative control which I made sure I got hence, there is a contract stating that I can say whatever I want. I want to make sure everyone knows this as transparency and honestly is my goal."

2hp Rnd (smooth & stepped random CV and random gates)

Published on Sep 25, 2018 DivKidVideo

"So here's my eighth video in the #2hpTuesdays series of videos covering the 2hp modules. This one is all about random with the Rnd. There's smooth random that moves linearly between values like a shifting triangle wave LFO, quantised random with is quantised to a clock (internal or external) giving you a traditional sample and hold output. Then there's also a clock generator that outputs clock or when in external clock mode it outputs random gates with probability control (instead of internal clock rate) and you also get varying gate lengths. Small, controllable, random is always good fun and really useful, win win for 2hp ... again! :)"

MB Sound Design #2: "Project Blue Beam"

Published on Sep 25, 2018 Kris Lennox

"Aliens descend :) In terms of sound design, it'll likely take years before the full potential of the MB's sound design possibilities are fully realised by the musical/sound community, what with the modulation possibilities. Even with patches like this one, I'm only scratching the surface. Sound design potential is one of the true strengths of the instrument, and one of the main motivating factors for my own purchasing the MB. There aren't many standalone monos with the same level of sound design potential; working with the MB in this style is likely the closest one can get to working with a full modular rig/setup.

Personal taste RE tone of analog monos will always be subjective (i.e. Moog/Arturia etc), but sound design on the MB will, objectively, likely remain in a league of its own for quite some time.

The included patch is quite involved. You'll initially hear microtonal drifting on the voice-like treatment of VCO 3's sine wave. The drifting works well to create the 'other-worldly' effect (check out Penderecki's music for fine acoustic examples of microtonal drift). There are numerous modulations on VCO's 1 and 2, plus an envelope on the blue noise."
