OB-6 Sounds From Scratch (With Talking/Explanations) No External Effects

MR TUNA Music

"Tried to keep it very similar to my recently posted Prophet-6 video as far as the progression of the patch goes. Gets into some very different territory by the end and then my camera dies (as per usual)"

Hardwood Side Panel Kickstarter for the Roland Jupiter-X Synthesizer

You can find the kickstarter here.

These are from Rock Manor Studios who have a shop on Reverb currently offering side panels for other synths.

Some info from the kickstarter:

"Roland's Jupiter-X Synthesizer sounds amazing - bringing us synth enthusiasts classic vintage sounds of the 80s and 90s. One thing that is missing, however, is the warmth of premium hardwood sides that are a hallmark of vintage synths. So I've started this Kickstarter to raise just enough capital to acquire the wood from a mill in Wisconsin and machine limited quantities from my product shop near Atlanta.

As soon as the project funds, the wood stock will be acquired and production will begin within a week. Panels will begin shipping a few days later in the order received - around a dozen per day - which targets the last batch made shipping in November. We'll remain equipped to handle any replacements necessary, and likely continue to make and sell these through other channels.

I'm a 20 year veteran product designer in the digital domain, and the son of a woodworker who taught me the craft since a young age. I own my own shop with all the necessary tools and skills to machine repeatable precision components, finish to furniture grade quality, and design packaging for a variety of market objectives. As a music lover and synth geek, I've began using my resources to produce panels for the synths I own during the COVID19 lockdown, and recently began producing small batches to fulfill consumer requests for Moog, Roland, Behringer and Euroracks.

We frequently produce small batches of other synth panels, mounts and accessories for sale from our Reverb store."

Mellotron M4000D - Card 02

John L Rice

"These are the sounds available on the Mellotron M4000D expansion card number 2, which will work in the original full sized M4000D, the Mini M4000D, and the M4000D Rack. (expansion cards are not compatible with the Mellotron Micro). I made this video so people that are interested in purchasing the card can get a general idea of what's on it.

INDEX:
0:00 Introduction with accordion
1:00 Wind instruments
5:05 Artist sound effects *
10:08 Wine Glasses
10:58 Keyboard instruments
14:45 Orchestral percussion
18:04 Spanish guitar
18:35 Accompaniments
31:17 Strings
34:27 Voices

* two years ago (August 2018) another person posted detailed videos of the artist sound effects collections, which is why I didn't take the time to clearly demonstrate them here: https://www.youtube.com/user/troubles...

On this card there are individual sounds that can be played "normally" (solos and chords as on a piano or organ etc) and then there are sounds that are to be played one key at a time because they are either predefined chords or an accompaniment section. Accompaniments might be a single instrument like guitar or an entire band. There are also keys that that have percussion parts, sound effects, and melodic full band fills for intros and outros.

As always, thank you for watching, rating and commenting! 😎 If you are able to, please consider 'buying me a coffee' if you found this content helpful or entertaining: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/JohnLRice"

"Good overall physical condition. Powers on. It displayes track one when powered on-I cannot get it to move to a different track, however, that may be entirely user error as I have no idea how it works.... In a moronic moment, I knocked off a key while cleaning (see pic)-The key is included. A steady hand and some super glue can likely remedy it."

I'd be careful attempting to glue it. I'd likely just rest it back in there.

Komo rebit // OP-1 ambient sketch

Stefano Mattia

"Here's another OP-1 (dark?) ambient sketch. I've always been strangely attracted to odd time signatures so I made this one in 7/4.
After playing with the OP-1 for a few days, I now understand what people were talking about when they claimed it was extremely easy to come up with ideas on the OP-1: I wrote all parts for this track in maybe less than one hour. I then exported the tape tracks to Logic and built a simple arrangement, added effects and automation, and some mixing/mastering.
All synth and drum sounds are stock OP-1 sounds though, except for the vocals, which I sampled from YouTube into the OP-1.
Enjoy!"

Pianos Off -CALC- Novation SLMK3 with User chord-bank hack.

-CALC-

Recorded live Friday 14th August 2020.
Recording notes:
SL MKIII is sending clock to everything and controlling, Octatrack and Blooper.
Piano chords pre-programmed on the SL pads, with the sequencer part muted it becomes a User-chord bank.
SL MK3 keyboard set to a single zone to play (mainly) the Rhodes improv.
0-Coast - bass
Morphagene - droning chimey stuff
Stereo Dipole - medium speed LFO filter pinging
Summit - two arps set with different rhythms on two separate parts on left/right side.
Octatrack - Drums (main beat)
piano - Spitfire Cinematic Felt Piano
Yamaha CP Rhodes 1 sound bit of reverb.

Off the cuff recording of studio performance with vid, one shot video's a bit boring, especially with a lot of synthy stuff out of shot to the side. But I thought the track was alright. Could be worth listening to without the video as well.

ECHOZ, Z5000 + ZVERB - Tip Top Audio FX - Sonic LAB

sonicstate

"Tip Top Audio have released three DSP FX modules in 8HP - the ECHOZ, Z5000 and ZVERB. These Stereo FX modules feature newly developed DSP FX plus some taken from their flagship FX the Z-DSP.

Priced at £190/$200, they each have Time, Filter, FB/Mod and Fidelity which are assigned per algorithm to create the most tweakable parameters. All modules feature mono in/stereo out, 24 algorithms, selectable via three backlit bank buttons. It is not possible to store settings, but CV inputs are available to control Fback, Time/Fidelity and Filter. Though it sadly is not possible to clock the modules for delay or modulation sync.

Modules are available in black or white variants.

Edd gives them a musical work out and finds the sweet spots."

Dusty Clouds Mountain Jam & More

Playlist:

1. Mountain Jam - Arbhar / Morphagene / Mimeophon / BIA
Here I recorded a sequence from Basimilus Iteritas Alter into Morphagene, and several other takes of the same sequence but different configurations into Arbhar’s buffers.

I then freed BIA and used it live for kick / snare.

The 0-Coast is playing a simple bass line.

Both Arbhar and Morphagene go into Mimeophon. I use Mimeophon’s clock out to trigger Arbhar.

I managed to combine the “2” and “3” channels of Maths and the Varispeed attenuverter of Morphagene in a way that when channel “3” pot is fully counterclockwise the sample in Morphagene is playing in the original (Green) pitch, when I turn the channel “3” pot fully clockwise the pitch of the sample changes to 1 octave lower (White).
2. Arbhar / Morphagene / BIA / VCV Rack / Erebus
Just a modular jam using INSTRUO Arbhar, Make Noise Morphagene, Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter and Dreadbox Erebus, all going into VCV Rack for some sound processing and mixing. I am also using an external plugin for the Mellotron flute sound.
3. Koshi Chimes Aqua / Morphagene / Mimeophon / Erebus / VCV Rack
I recorded the Koshi Chimes Aqua in Make Noise / SoundHack Morphagene and from there it goes into Mimeophon for the delay effect.
Two FM operators in VCV Rack going into Clouds.
The Dreadbox Erebus is playing a single Triangle waveform through its own echo effect.
The Hermod is used exclusively as a modulation source.
There is a lot of additional patching between the hardware modules and VCV Rack so feel free to ask any questions in the comment section.
4. Make Noise / SoundHack Morphagene & Mimeophon sound exploration
Just a modular jam using Make Noise / SoundHack Morphagene & Mimeophon. No modulation is applied except some simple LFO's from Maths.

TIPS & TRICKS - How to pitch shift Morphagene in octaves on the fly

Dusty Clouds

"I made this tutorial to show you a few simple ways to pitch shift Morphagene's recorded samples in perfect octaves on the fly and always be able to return to original pitch easily.

I am using active attenuators, Maths attenuverters and Ableton's sequencer."

TIPS & TRICKS - How to use Instruo Arbhar as a wavetable synthesizer

Dusty Clouds

"Hi friends,
In this video I am demonstrating how you can turn the Instruo Arbhar into a wavetable synthesizer. We take advantage of the 6 buffers by using them as a 6 sound wavetable and with some clever tuning you can imitate wavetable morphing while you scan between them.
Cheers!"

S.B.G. Basics - Connecting Effects Pedals - ALM006

ALM TV

"The ‘S.B.G’ is a compact utility module intended for the interfacing of guitar effect pedals with your eurorack modular system.

It provides both attenuation and amplification of audio signals for level matching together with a crossfade control to conveniently adjust the wet/dry mix of a processed signal. The module also offers regulation of outgoing CV signals for safer use of pedal expression inputs.

Here we look at how to connect up audio and expression CV to a typical effects pedal."

Instruo - Tš-L Overview

Instruō

"The Tš-L is back in stock with a couple of extra bonus features!

The Tš-L is a fully analogue voltage controlled oscillator with a plethora of features in a very small footprint.

Its triangle core circuitry allows for extremely consistent waveforms over a wide frequency range. The triangle foundation is used to generate its sine waveform which holds consistent shape and amplitude across the Tš-L’s wide range. The outputs consist of simultaneous Square/Sub, Triangle, and Sine waveforms, with additional voltage controllable wavefolder and complex PWM waveshaper.

Tš-L includes every feature needed to powerfully perform as a rich, ultra compact audio source, as well as functioning equally as a versatile modulation source."

Slow Tempo Jungle Experiment [Novation Circuit / Volca Sample / Arturia Microfreak]

Flak Cannon

"Old school jungle is one of my favourite electronic music genres, so of course eventually I wanted to try my hands on that. Things did not go as expected since I could not get this track to work at the traditional higher BPM of jungle. Slow it down then! As an end result his experimentative jam was born.

The Novation Circuit isn't actually playing any music, I use it to control the Microfreak to play the pad sound. Volca Sample provides the slowed down amen break."

Korg Wavestate Jam - 4 arpeggiators

Waveformer

"A jam with a custom patch on the Wavestate - 4 arpeggiators, one for each layer, fading in and out, with some sound tweaking throughout the jam.

My music on Bandcamp: http://waveformer42.bandcamp.com/

The Wavestate patch ("performance") consists of 4 layers:
- A: Arpeggiator #1 - Sample sequence of 15 different bell and synth sounds
- B: Arpeggiator #2 - Vocalscape sample
- C: Arpeggiator #3 - 16 step timing sequence with many rests. Shape sequence with some racketing.
- D: Arpeggiator #4 - 16 step sample sequence with misc percussive sounds. Timing lane with some rests with less than 100% probability.

The arpeggiators use different patterns, different speeds, and different sort settings, so the melodies created by the arpeggiators are different for each layer. Also, I have some rests in the timing lane for some of the layers, and have the filter LFO modulate filter cutoff frequency, so some notes are more muted than others. I usually add some randomness to the panning (using the LFO with a random waveform), and often let the amp envelope modulate filter envelope cutoff, so some notes are more plucky than others. All to create constant variation.

I have mapped the four top global mod knobs to wavesample octave (that was a lot of button pushing to program), and the four bottom global mod knobs to layer amp volume, so I can use these to fade each layer in and out.

The patch is called "WF Berlin Arp" and can be downloaded from files section of the "Korg Wavestate Q/A Sharing" facebook group.

The audio is recorded to SD card on a Zoom R16 and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on iPhoneX. Audio and video is synchronized in DaVinci Resolve 15."

DO YOU WANT A LEGENDARY 1985 SYNTH SOUND? Demo of Roland JX-8P

Microflat

"This video will demo a variety of fantastic and inspiring 1980's synthesizer sounds from the legendary grand old lady Roland JX-8P. This model has itches and scrathes from a long life on the road and this particular model literally smells like it has been around plenty of recording studios full of rockstars and groupies on the pipe.

Video clips were recorded in 4K (60 fps) on a Panasonic Lumix GH5 and edited in Adobe Rush. Audio was recorded in 192 KHz 24 bit on a Solid State Logic 2+ thunderbolt 3 audio interface straight into Propellerhead Reason 9. FX like a bit of reverb and limiter has been added in post-production in Adobe Audition."
