"Exceptionally Clean. Complete service January 2022. OS v8.3

A few 'mandatory' but very minor scratches on top of the unit. The top C key has a minor chip in it, barely visible.

Latest OS 8.3. Separate voice outs and MIDI in, thru and out.

Sweet SSM filters and über-rich oscillators. Sounds beautiful, analog and brütal.

Whatever sound you want from the PPG, it's all right there at your fingertips."

The First Synthesizer Ever Made In Japan, Remade: miniKORG 700FS Monophonic Synthesizer

video upload by Patchwerks

"In this video Tom Butcher of Patchwerks takes us on a deep dive of the Korg700FS, a beautifully crafted mono synthesizer.

Back To The Future:
a limited edition authentic revival of the miniKORG 700.
The miniKORG 700 was KORG’s first mass-produced monophonic synthesizer released in 1973 at a time when the form of synthesizers as musical instruments had not been fully established. After a lot of experimentation the miniKORG 700 arrived bringing the world of synthesizers to a wide group of users by offering simple operations that could producing extreme changes in sound, and was championed by a strong base of admiring musicians.

The miniKORG 700FS is an authentic revival of the miniKORG 700S, (an improved version of the miniKORG 700) that was released the following year. The revised miniKORG 700FS offers added functionality such as an arpeggiator, spring reverb and aftertouch. The miniKORG 700FS is a fully-realized analog synthesizer that was developed in conjunction with the original designer, Fumio Mieda.

"By now, everyone knows the sound of the Juno-60. From the mixable Sawtooth and Square wave shapes on the Oscillator, all the way through to lush stereo chorus at the end of the signal chain. Junos may not be the most complex synthesizers out there but they are almost impossible to get a bad sound out of. Basses, pads, leads, arpeggios, it can do it all. It may not have MIDI like its younger sibling the 106, but the Arpeggiator Sync Input should not be over looked for creating interesting rhythmic patterns.

There is some light overall cosmetic wear mostly in the form of light blemishes throughout. Please see the detailed images. Everything is working great and sounds awesome as usual, here is a list of it's recent service:

-Replaced ALL electrolytic caps on all PCBs
-Disassembled and cleaned all tact switches and polished contacts
-Removed, disassembled and cleaned all faders
-Resoldered all pin headers and cleaned contact points
-Refurbished power supply: replaced filter caps and resoldered all components!
-Replaced AC cable
-Replaced bender arm, bender plate and rubber stop bushing
-New memory battery and reloaded original factory presets
-New dust covers on panel pcb and in bender assembly
-Refurbished panel pcb by resoldering faders and switches, replaced electrolytic caps on panel boards
-Cleaned key contacts and all other moving parts"

"THE BAD NEWS:

1) The handle on the bender is broken off. It is still fully functional and easy to use even without the handle. Sorry.

2) The left speaker doesn't kick in unless you turn the volume past the very lowest level. Otherwise, both speakers play fine and are crackle-free so I'm guessing this could be solved with minor cleaning/maintenance. I didn't want to attempt it and potentially mess something else up in the process. The cabinet has never been opened and it's innards have never been messed with.

3) There are only a few minor cosmetic issues. For most I had to work a bit to find the right light and angle so they'd show up in the images at all. The worst scratch is on the bottom and it is minor. There is also a tiny scratch on the top above 'chorus', another [almost completely imperceptible] one above the 'noise' slider, and a rough edge on the front lip of a white key in the top octave. Check the pictures if you're concerned. Overall this thing is in really good condition.

___
THE GOOD NEWS:

APPEARANCE: Fantastic overall cosmetic condition. It has been well cared for and properly stored in dry, smoke-free, heated / air conditioned spaces. It looks great.

FUNCTION: It works like new. Other than the items listed above, all knobs, buttons, keys, etc are in place, and fully functional. No weird quirks.

PURITY: Every single knob, button, circuit, cord, wire, etc. is original and untouched. And it still works. And it sounds great.

LOVE: I am the first and only owner of this thing since it was purchased new in the 80s. It didn't spend a year or two in a garage or on a flea market table or in a thrift store. It hasn't been on tour. It hasn't been used much at all. It deserves a more exciting future.

COOL: Sorry, but this thing is just plain cool. Looks cool. Sounds cool.

SAFE and HEALTHY: The item is currently not vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 but is guaranteed 100% free of COVID-19, seasonal flu, the common cold, and all other deadly and/or bothersome transmissible diseases and/or unfortunate maladies. I cannot attest to the current state of its mental health. It's been quite alone for far too long.

EXTRA: You'll get the original power cord, removable music stand, two pedals, and owner's manuals.

EXTRA EXTRA: You'll also get Roland's 1985 third edition Guidebook for MIDI: Which Greatly Expands Potential of Musical Composition. This winning piece features such enlightening zingers as, "MIDI employs digital signals. That is, MIDI instruments can be set up with a computer" and "MIDI has opened a new way for electronic musical instruments." It ends on a tantalizing note with, "The future of MIDI is full of possibilities not only in the musical field, but also in other fields." Get ready to LEARN!"

EDP Wasp Analogue Synthesizer + Noise Militia FX Wasp Filter

via this auction

This appears to be the first post to feature Noise Militia FX.

"Made in UK between 1978-1981, here we have an ORIGINAL Wasp synthesizer in great condition. Only 3,000 ever made. EDP (Electronic Dream Plant) were creators of some great products at the time; star item being the OSCar synth. Chris Hugget went on to become involved with Novation, who are still around today, with British synths that hold their own with any other in the world eg Summit (KKGB have one in stock).

SOUNDS LIKE:- very capable synthesizer delivers a vast array of sounds. Its "additive synthesis", really...meaning you have to understand what is happening re the audio path. Having TWO oscillators is a huge bonus, with noise/sample & hold/glide all there for free.. It can sound pleasantly sweet (steady now...dont let music get in the way..), or devilishly wicked/weird and/or funky bass lines/screaming solo lines, and everything in-between. NO "snowflake/lazy boy" presets for you to get you started...oh, no...this is raw analogue at its smouldering best....

FREE gift >> WASP FILTER (Noise Militia FX) is included in the price. This device can be used with any synth, for wazzing delights and stuff (worth £199)."

A hybrid of a boombox, synth / drum machine and tape machine.
A little dusty but everything works. Write your swan song....

The speakers and the keyboard are detachable. The keyboard comes out when you push the boom box handle down. Apparently, it is pretty difficult to find these with the wireless keyboard still working.⁣

The keyboard can be played and recorded directly to cassette. It’s got a little LCD display which displays the instrument that's being played and the key that's pressed. The synth sounds are: piano, harpsichord, organ, violin, flute, horn, fantasy, and mellow.⁣"

Polaxis Terminal / Emy Speech Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

You can find demos in previous posts here.

"Terminal is a standalone modular speech synthesizer containing Emy and a little PCB to provide power and extended connectivity.

It is powered via a USB connector. The casing allows adding any of the Vox modules inside just by removing four screws.

Terminal / EMY can be used in a CV-controlled environment or act as a MIDI instrument.

You can install the various firmware on the SD card before powering the device.

A pair of shunts allows the user to connect Terminal either as a MIDI USB unit or as a host for a USB keyboard for text entry. TRS jack MIDI Type B connector.

Emy is a versatile speech synthesizer that can host a hardware synthesizer on its back via a mikroBUS port. This port allows transforming Emy in a matter of a minute. TMS5220/TMS5100 / TMC0281 (Speak & Spell) included.

LPC data are read from the SD card so an infinite vocabulary can be loaded

Sound and vocabulary can be produced by concatenating allophones and prosody markers from the text file to affect rate, duration, and pitch. No limits here!

The OLED crisp display allows browsing amongst the files and the lines within files to pick the sound the user wants to generate.

Speech rendering can be tweaked in real-time to affect, rate, stretch, bend, pitch, and energy.

All the potentiometers have CV entries attached to them

Emy produces sounds in 3 major modes: Speech, Repeat, and VCO.

In Speech mode, the speech starts with a gate signal and is completed before waiting for a new gate signal. The speech has priority.

In Repeat mode, the speech starts and stops with the gate signal going high or low.

The gate has the priority, and the speech repeats while the gate is high. This mode is handy to create crazy rhythms.

In VCO mode, the LPC engine loops while the gate is high, producing steady notes."

ARCADE via this auction

"What is it?
Sound synthesis through Frequency Modulation (FM) allows to obtain unique sounds that defined a whole musical generation during the 80's and 90's. The model ARCADE uses the YM2151 Yamaha chip that was used in almost all the arcade machines in those years.

What makes it special?
The YM2151 has eight channels with four operators per channel. The operators can interact according to eight different algorithms. Attack-Decay-Sustain-Release (ADSR) envelopes, frequencies and low frequency oscillators (LFOs) can be modified to obtain the whole range of FM sounds.

Sonicware Liven Bass & Beats Prototype, XFM, Behringer Neutron - Unfriendly Electro _ Song-a-day 2022

video upload by ChrisLody

Liven Bass & Beats Prototype posts

"Right, getting back on the jams with Song-a-day 2022 which a challenge not unlike Jamuary, but in February obviously.

I've been super busy on development of the Liven Bass & Beats (prototype shown here) as well as other things which is why things have been so quiet here recently. I'm determined to make more spare time in February but it remains to be seen if I'll have enough time to make a track everyday in February. This is also one of my first chances to play around with the Behringer Neutron that I found second hand recently at a very good price

In this jam the Bass & Beats is playing an Electro rhythm on a kit I made as well as a gritty sounding bass patch. The Liven XFM is sequencing the Behringer Neutron (via midi) on a muted track and also playing strings on a separate track. I imagine this combo will appear more over the month. Not the most amazing bit of work arrangement wise this but I was pushed for time today. I'll probably warm up as the month goes on, fingers crossed."

Moog muSonics V project A

video upload by MOS-LAB

"The sonic V is a synth developed around 1969/1970 by ex Moog employee Gene Zumcheck
(the idea of a portable synthesizer had been refused at the time by Robert Moog).
This synthesizer was built by the company muSonics when Gene Zumchek join them, and was released "officially" when the company bought R.A Moog in 1971 under the Moog muSonics badge.
There were less than a hundred units built (mine has serial number 18).
Unfortunately, very few models are still in existence today, making it a very rare instrument. Not having been exported at the time, it was mainly
intended for universities in USA.
Its successor, the Sonic 6 is an improved and portable version, but with a different filter (Moog ladder filter)
So it doesn't sound quite the same."

So, if you have the infinite money glitch in life, I guess I finally made the video for you. That said, nobody should spend money on anything just because some other musician praises it. MakeNoise Mult | A Cheap & Small Superpower

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"It started off as a joke for #Jamuary2022 DAY 31. I thought it would be fun to use the most boring module I could find before the LabRats took over the video with a Punk Rock performance. I got some comments of people 'regretting' the Mult video was lost. Then I realized that nobody ever made a video about that Mult. I never gave it any consideration because the Shared System has this huge CV Bus in the middle. It's kind of taken for granted. But mults (any mult) are superpowers. If you don't have a mult in your case, it's hard to reach its full potential. You can use stackable cables, but that will only lead to cable clutter. The Mult is a cheap, boring and small module, but it's an underestimated superpower. So this video is not a joke. It may even surprise you! Cheers!"

Lavender Sea | Korg Opsix Ambient

video upload by r beny

"Inspired by a dream I recently had.

Hello. It's been a while. Last year was tough, but I am back after a long focus on my mental and physical health.

Recently picked up a Korg Opsix and I have found it to be a sound design dream. The open architecture of the operators creates a semi-modular routing environment, where you can route any oscillator to any oscillator, including themselves for feedback. Because of this and the ability to use tuned comb filters, wave shapers, filters, and other sound shapers as operators, you can take the Opsix beyond FM into other areas such as physical modeling and additive synthesis.

This is a piece heavily utilizing FM feedback (to create textured pads and beds of noise) and physical modeling (karplus strong).

Thanks to those who have stuck around and as always thank you for listening/watching."
