Simmons Trixer Drum Module Sample Pack
video upload by Beat Machine
"This is a high quality drum sample pack of the Simmons Trixer Drum Brain.
Each hit has been multisampled so that you have up to 5 samples to each sound due to the variation of the sound when playing. You can then multi layer the samples in Kontakt for an even more accurate emulation of the Trixer.
The sounds that you hear in the demo are also included in the sample pack.
Immediate download of this sample pack is available from www.beatmachine.co.uk"

"Beautiful instrument. MS series expander. Something like preset MS-10 with cv/gate, guitar or wind controller. It has a resonance control modification. Watch the video to get the picture of it's complete potential - when working. Unfortunately this one stopped tracking cv input and I didn't fix it so now it has to go. It powers up, leds are flashing, sound is coming out and you can change presets but you you can't play it with cv/gate (Hz/v). Don7t know about wind controller. Sold as is for repairs."

Run test of brand new MOS-LAB ARP 2500 clone modules
video upload by yusynthman
"A bit of fun with my newly assembled ARP2500 base on the excellent MOS-LAB clone modules of the legendary ARP2500. I build a cabinet to host these and this my first fun patch. Sound is from the camera microphone though but it gives a fair idea. The modular is on its own , no additional synth or drums. The only FX I used was an echo-delay."
Prophet X Modular Sample Set 1 #shorts
video upload by O.Z. Hall
"This is my first attempt "sample the modular" for the Prophet X hybrid sampler/synth.
Here are the steps I took:
1) assemble my samples in the 8DIO "CompilerUtility"
(aka the sample mapping tool)
I can play the samples within the tool
2) export to create a directory structure:
u00\02 Bass\02.NameOfSampleSet.zip
3) format a USB 3.0 16GB USB drive
4) create a folder "px"
5) copy the u00 directory (step 2) above into the "px" folder (step 4)
6) eject USB and insert into Prophet X
7) Import the user samples as follows
Press the "Global" button and work from the Screen/buttons/knobs interface:
34. Update Library
select Library = "User" (rotate knob 3 two clicks)
click button 1 "Update Now"
click button 3 "Overwrite" (or abort with button 1 "Back")
wait for "success" message
Here's a cool tutorial which shows these steps in detail starting about 1:00 [posted here]
8) You can now accessing the sample set in you custom programs"
School Rhythmer - peg/matrix 'programmable' drum machine
video upload by wildchurch
"This is my take on the (very rare) Kawai School Rhythmer...an educational rhythm machine from the 1960s.
Rhythms are programmed by inserting pegs into a matrix sequencer - thereby offering a highly visual indication of how a rhythm is formed.
Presumably, it helped children like myself to feel the 'magic of beats'...
I've never actually seen or heard a fully functioning original, so aside from the aesthetics being different, I've used some guess work to replicate the percussion sounds, as well as the functioning of the 'Hyōshigi' trigger - for my build, this works as a 'fill' switch when a pegs are inserted in the matrix. With no pegs inserted, this triggers the Hyōshigi voice alone.
Additional features include a clock divider (1/2 & 1/4 time), clock in/out and a gate out for sync'ng with external devices.
The original sports five percussion sounds:
- Triangle
- Hyōshigi ('Japanese woodblocks')
- Cymbal
- Small Taiko
- Big Taiko
There are two additional voices which can be selected via switching on the circuit board:
- Hyoshigi can be switched to HiHat
- Small Taiko can be switched to Snare
For my build, the drum sounds are based on the circuitry of a 1970s DIY drum machine kit produced by the Japanese company, Elekit. The schematics for which have been updated and reproduced by Gadget Factory, to whom I am most grateful for making them available:
http://park19.wakwak.com/~gadget_fact...
The remaining circuitry is built around 4017 chips and a 555 timer for the internal clock. The peg matrix involves microswitches, such that, when a peg is inserted, the signal passes through, triggering a drum sound on that particular step.
There are easier, groovier ways of generating rhythms - this is as much a 'sculpture' as a musical device..."

Kawai K1 II Synthesizer - Part 5 - K1 II vs. Nil's K1v
video upload by Runningonair
"In this video I look at the differences between the recent Nil's K1v emulation and the original Kawai K1 II.
The K1v can be downloaded at:
https://www.nilsschneider.de/wp/nils-...
Also, the video title track is created using just sounds from the K1 II (and a bit of production), giving you some idea of what can be achieved with this synth alone.

"The CZ-101 is a classic Casio digital synthesizer that uses Phase Distortion synthesis to shape sounds. You can Select between 8 waveforms which are then modulated by it's three 8 stage envelopes which control pitch, phase angle, and amplitude. This style of synthesis is similar to FM synthesis which gives them a character not unlike the Yamaha DX/TX line of synthesizers but at a much lower cost. It also features 8 note polyphony, 32 patches of memory (16 preset, 16 user writable), ring modulation, and vibrato with selectable waveforms for LFO like effects."

"This particular unit was imported by Klassic Keys GB from Japan (100V). Our Roland specialist tech gave it his attentions. This is what has been done:-
1) converted to 220/240Vac operation + NEW mains cord and plug fitted + PAT tested
2) cleaned key contacts, to ensure perfect triggering every time, staccato or whatever.....
3) fitted MIDI kit (from Netherlands), and tested operation thereof....
4) inspected everything "under the hood" ~ installed fresh internal battery, checked all connectors/tuning etc......dco fader (by bender) is a bit "lumpy" (still works), 3-click HPF ratchet control can "jump" on extreme setting, but works OK if moved gingerly. NOTE...this synth IS 40-y-old, and commands respect/gentle operation. ~ reloaded the 56 original factory "presets" via cassette (a vintage recording device from a half a century ago....ha, ha)...they can be used as a reference/starter point enabling you to create your own patches,.... the wonder of subtractive synthesis!
Condition:- really nice, overall. Keys are nigh immaculate (95% good?), main panel is nearly scratchless, with all the distinctive colourful lettering looking great. All push-switches, toggles & faders do their job without noise, and all LEDS work perfectly. "Wood" veneer is slightly damaged on some corners/rims (it usually is...), and the internal dust covers on the toggles are missing (no idea why...), but that is of little consequence. In summary, a cool, working example of one of THE most famous synths ever made; and should continue to impress for another 20 years? Copy manual will be supplied."

"Before the famous Novation Bass Station Rack module came the small and portable Bass Station keyboard! This synthesizer uses digitally synchronized analog oscillators (DCO's) to reproduce the sounds of a monophonic dual-osc analog synthesizer with simple and intuitive controls via 17 knobs, 10 switches and 2 Moog-style pitch/mod wheels. Think EDP Wasp and ARP Odyssey. The Bass Station can faithfully reproduce analog bass sounds similar to a TB-303, Micromoog or Pro One synthesizer. The small keyboard and monophonic architecture set this keyboard up for strict bassline, lead synth lines, and synth fx. It also transmits MIDI continuous controller data from its pitch/mod wheels, frequency cutoff, resonance, filter modulation depth, env1 attack, decay and env2 attack and decay."

Amdek DMK-100 Delay Machine
video upload by Geylo Follen
"In 1981 Roland establish a new Japanese division, called AMDEK (Analogue Music Digital Electronics Kits) Although Roland was based in Hamamatsu by the early '80s, Kakehashi established the AMDEK Corporation in Osaka. Their main product lines were small effects units and computer monitors manufactured for Roland.
This DMK100 delay model was released in 1981 sold as a DIY kit and can be built in a couple of hours using only a soldering iron, cutters and screwdrivers.
With delay times from 25 to 300 mS it can produce a wide range of echo, reverb and flanger effects and has a selection of input and output level and mix facilities with a lovely distorted sound if you crank the volume.
I modded my unit by adjusting the Intensity VR5 trimmer to get wild sounds and make the unit go to self oscillation."
SYNTHR 4 "ESCAPE FROM LYON" DEMO n° 2
video upload by KurtzMindfields
"For this second basic vidéo, i explore the poly sequencer (4 voices chords) & the arpeggiator (with midi synchro), the LFO 1 with sync, the sample & Hold with paraphonic mode, lead VCOs sync with EGMod, and live effects (Delay Ping Pong, shimmer delay & reverb). Aftertouch, VCF and LFO still controlled by Wheels & aftertouch for expressive playing.
A little tribute to James Cameron old soundtracks.
