Allinaire Strakt SeenSound - Live Generative Video, Eurorack & Moog Minitaur

video upload by Allinaire

"Live at SeenSound / Vitalise Crosspollination gig, Petersham (Sydney) on 23rd April 2022
(Thanks to Mark Pedersen & Brigid Burke - & )

Allinaire performing as 1/2 of the duo ‘Strakt’ - A live and extended performance mix of the track ‘292.12 Induced psychotic disorder, with hallucinations’ from the album ‘Diagnoses’, available on Blurred.Vision.

‘Strakt’ is a collaboration between Fremantle based musician and producer -1 and Sydney based Allinaire.

Allinaire is playing live audio and generating live video simultaneously via a hacked and customised Max-for-Live video patch. All the geometric video is created live in response to the audio and various modulation. Additional prepared and added video (madness head shots) includes Vector Rescanning by Allinaire using an LZX system and an Oscilloscope.
Live video mixing and additional video on the day by VJ ATMM (includes partial treated excerpts of the short ‘Forever’ by Mitch Mcglocklin which uses LIDAR scanning tech)

Audio is produced using a eurorack system including a Pittsburgh Lifeforms primary Oscillator sequenced via the Mac through an Expert Sleepers ES-9, also featuring a Make Noise Morphagene and other modules. Baseline is the Moog Minitaur. Various other sounds and percussion via Mac Ableton devices manipulated and mixed by Midi controllers Softube Console 1 Fader and the Faderfox UC4.

I've been experimenting over the years with many types of modular and hardware setups for live performance - this is a first 'proof of concept' Live set utilising a Laptop (often controversial!) with outboard dedicated gear to handle audio and live video simultaneously which maintains the ability to be creative in structure, composition and live timbre manipulation - hopefully also allowing for the happy accidents that occur when playing live, as well as the adrenaline and fear of total collapse to keep it honest :-)"

NAMM 22: OB-X8 Sounds Only

video upload by sonicstate

"The OB-X8 was clearly on most people's list to get their hands on. As with Superbooth it was hard to get near, but Jim staked his claim and spent a while flipping presets on the massive new polysynth from Oberheim.

if you're quick, you might be able to get one ordered. We imagine they are going fast, even though its got a hefty price tag, people just want to own a piece of the real Oberheim."

"Clair de lune" - 3-voice synthesizer rendition: Moog Sub37 CV, ARP Odyssey, Blue Marvin 2600

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
I split Clair de lune into 3 monophonic voices, and ran each voice through a different synth, using the MOTU midi express 128. The first voice was the Behringer Blue Marvin 2600, the second voice was the ARP Odyssey, and the 3rd Bass Voice was the Moog Subsequent 37 CV. Just a little experiment. Let me know in the comments what rendition you want me to do in the near future. Cheers:)

video upload by David Bessell

"Seventh Window - A track from the album Imaginator by Dave Bessell and Liam Boyle. You can find the full album here https://davebessellandliamboyle.bandc...
Released on Groove Unlimited.

The video is by Sam Cox and you can find his youtube channel here"

"Dave Bessell and Liam Boyle first met on Facebook through an interest in Node. Liam has a very wide range of mu-sical interests and skills including the classical avant garde so Dave invited him to a performance of one of his classi-cal modernist pieces for orchestra at Plymouth University. The two hit it off and first collaborated on a track called Theme One from Dave’s solo electronic album ‘Black Horses of the Sun’. It was always on the cards that these two would collaborate further and in 2020 the opportunity arose which resulted in this latest album ‘Imaginator’ their first on Groove Unlimited.

Liam has produced a number of film socres for american independent films as well as recording multiple electronic albums such as ‘Off World’ and more recently ‘Waveforms’ He continues to explore electronic sound design, visuals, guitar and classical compositions

Dave Bessell, founder member of synth group Node, has been releasing a series of fascinating solo and collaborative EM albums over recent years, mainly on DiN records. He also has a lengthy back story involving session playing programming and arranging for a variety of artists and labels including Killing Joke and Suede. Along the way he also picked up a Phd in classical orchestration from the Royal College of Music.

This latest collaboration is the first full album with versatile soundtrack and EM composer Liam Boyle. It is also the first release for these artists on Groove Unlimited. The musical emphasis here is on both melody and sonic explora-tion with an atmospheric soundtrack feel throughout. Not surprising really considering both artists have seperately worked on soundtracks - from independent films to TV. The music is detailed and multilayered repaying close and repeated listening and is realised entirely with analogue hardware, plus a little heavily treated and disguised guitar. Dave also uses an unusual instrument on a couple of tracks called an Aum guitar which is designed to be played with an ebow and sounds nothing like a guitar!

released January 1, 2022"

NAMM 22: Hydrasynth Deluxe - Sounds Only

video upload by sonicstate

"Another big synth - while not new, the Hydrasynth Deluxe does pack plenty of power with essentially two Hydrasynths on board for twice the polyphony or a split or layer with a full Hydrasynth engine for each layer.

ASM kindly prepped a bank of sounds in Performance mode for Jim to peruse."

NAMM 22: BlipBlox MyTracks - Sounds Only

video upload by sonicstate

"Another made for kids product from Playtime Engineering to go a long with the original BlipBlox synth toy that we secretly suspect many people wouldn't mind spending some quality time with. The MyTracks is a more beats focussed device, with MPC style pads, clip launching and sampling to keep you entertained.

Jim unleashed his inner child and fooled around with it so you don't have to.

myTracks available early 2023. Price: 249 USD"

2022/06 - Volca Harmonicon

video upload by Stereoping

"A little song with some diy-gear. Opening with the Volca Sample running the Pajen firmware which allows endless drones with AMP DECAY fully clockwise. 5 notes are mixed with an external Midicontroller. The Moog #Subharmonicon plays along running through a DIY Axoloti-based Reverb/Delay. Second part played by #Summit, #Subsequent37, #OSCar and #TD-3. The Drums are coming from an old Organ voiceboard which is triggered (and powered) by the DIY-808. Other DIY gear used: Midi-RGB-LED lamp for visual feedback of beat&bar, trigger sequencer synching the Subharmonicum and another axoloti based insert-FX for high-feedback-phasing and high-Q-lowpass."
