S2400 Kit Creator web application preview.

"The application allows you to drag and drop audio samples in various formats—including WAV, AIFF, SND, MP3, and others—directly into your web browser. It automatically converts them into the native WAV format required by the S2400, with the correct bit depth and sample rate.
Once your samples are imported, you can adjust basic parameters such as gain, pitch, loop points, and pad color. When you’re satisfied, you can download the completed kit to your SD card and load it directly into the S2400.
This is for ALL S2400 users and is DSP card agnostic.
We’re aiming to release this to our beta team by the end of the week for final testing. It will then be available for all users, free of charge, at www.islainstruments.com

Serenal Drift - Oberheim OBX8 Ambient Performance

"This is the first thing I wrote when I recently got my Oberheim OBX8. The Pad Sound here is the most breathtaking and beautiful synth sound I can imagine. I always dreamt of it sound and kind of emulated it (or at least tried it) with all my other synths before (from my trusty old K2600 to my Prophet 12). When I created the preset I was so deep in awe that I almost couldn't play it; it feels like one has a whole string orchestra or horn ensemble under one's fingertips and it's simply too much to handle!
That's why I decided to play it more melody oriented, kind of stripped down to leave some space for more imagination. The music in this video is a reduced one take performance of a larger album piece that has more orchestration in it and overall will sound a bit more ethereal and dramatic. Nonetheless this clip here captures pretty well why I love this instrument so much."

Creating sounds on the Modor DR-2: A detailed expedition

"In the latest instalment of my "If You Want A Short, Splashy, Gotcha Video This Isn't For You" series I noodle about in lengthy detail with sounds on the Modor DR-2. The idea here isn't a quick showcase of wondrous sounds, it's to give you a genuine feel for what it's like to use the DR-2. That means transiting through hundreds of gradations and flavors of a sound. No doubt sometimes you'll hear your preferred sound pass by as I adjust a parameter too far or wind back something too hard. Watching this back I can see points at which I should have stopped but instead kept tweaking. The filtered clap for example sounded pretty good after about 10 seconds but I kept flogging it death :D But that's the essence of this video - as the old saying goes it's the journey not the destination.
A quick note on the audio track: The Modor's buttons are very loud and clicky. It gives them a satisfying sureness in the studio but means they're quite intrusive on video. I did my best to EQ them out, gate them out, and manually mute them when possible. The result in headphones may sound slightly choppy (and somewhat mangled my voice) but I wanted to make sure you could hear the Modor's sounds properly rather than being mixed with room noise and button clicks.
I hope here I've got across the fact that the DR-2 is beautifully crafted to deliver a massive range of customizable sound. It's easy to dial in the basics of an excellent sound, and then have the controls you need to zoom in on what you want. The main problem is when to stop noodling.
Despite the length of this video I only touched on a tiny fraction of the Modor's sounds. If you're interested in hearing more, or any particular types of sound, please let me know.
Finally, Mr Modor if you're reading this: Please make an all-black version with second-layer subtext on the knobs.

"A piece created using the @SequentialLLC Prophet-10, YAMAHA CP-88, and MU15. A simple rhythm underpins the piano and the music box-like tones of the MU15, which are processed through the @ChaseBlissAudio MOOD MK II and GENERATION LOSS MK II.
The MU15 plays sounds like music boxes and harps via MIDI. Passing it through the MOOD MK II and GENERATION LOSS MKII produces a lo-fi yet sparkling character.
On the Prophet-10, I perform a simple synth pad, routed through @strymon blueSky for reverb.
The rhythm is constructed in a DAW by arranging samples.
The piano parts are played live on the CP-88."

Inspired by the iconic consoles that defined decades of music production, Assembler brings the same sought-after warmth, character, and tonal shaping to today’s producers and performers. Featuring custom-designed Pittsburgh Modular analog circuitry, the mixer utilizes signal contouring and soft compression to unify the overall mix. This process emulates the beloved sonic characteristics of vintage recordings, offering a rich and cohesive sound.
