Matt Barber - 80's in 80 seconds

video upload by Matt Barber - Sounds from The Sandbox

"Just thought I would try a little something fun...the title says it all. 0 to 80's in 80 seconds. Enjoy. Certified AI free and no traces of softsynths!

Drums - Oberheim DX Stretch, Korg DDD-1 - just a snare on 2 and 4 with mostly just the reverb return from a Roland SDE-330 non-lin setting, Roland TR8S - some perc and a ghost snare from the 707 kit.

Oberheim OB-8

Korg DW-8000

Bass - Roland D-50 patch also triggering a Roland JX8P and Korg Polysix to fatten and double it

Ensoniq ESQ - A nice PPG Wave patch from a sound cartridge I have for it.

Sequential Rev 2 also triggering a bell patch on the Yamaha TG33

Yamaha DX7iiD - nice dual patch one a rhodes type and the other a tine from the many banks on the Hypersynth card to finish it off and play out on."

Matt Barber - 80's in 80 seconds - Episode 2

video upload by Matt Barber - Sounds from The Sandbox

"80's in 80 Seconds Episode 2 has landed! The first one was a bit fun so let's keep the theme going. This one starts off with a nice "groove" and builds with some synths spanning the decade. If you listen past the 80 seconds the Arp Odyssey briefly shows off its duo-phonic capabilities with a few 2 note chords that almost have a vocoder like effect with the phaser on it just after the 2 minute mark.
The following instruments were used and recorded as a 2 track with no editing or overdubs with each part being played into a pair of Arturia Keystep Pro sequencers. As always, AI free and made with real ingredients. Thanks for watching!

Oberheim DX Stretch - main drums
Korg DDD-1 - perc
Roland TR8-S - additional high hats, rim shot, crash
Berhinger - Model D - Bass
Roland Jupiter 4 - Arp
Korg PolySix - Synth Brass Pad 1
Roland Jupiter 6 - Synth layer 2
Yamaha DX7II - Bell 1
Roland D-50 - Bell 2
Arp Solina - Strings
Arp Odyssey Mkii 2810 - Lead"

Matt Barber - 80's in 80 seconds - Episode 3

video upload by Matt Barber - Sounds from The Sandbox

"80's in 80 seconds episode 3 is here to start of the New Year! I thought something "new" should be in 'order' after the busy holiday period. Several familiar sounds in this one that can most likely been dialed in on many synths of the era but this one builds with the hardware listed below. All natural...Certified AI and VST free. Thanks for listening!

Drums -
Korg DDD-1 to start with the first hi-hat
Oberhiem DX Stretch - Main kick, beat kick, snare, additional hi-hat, clap, and rim shot
Roland TR-8S - a little kick for attack, snare ghost notes, and high hat movement

Pad 1 - Oberheim OB-8

BASS - Berhinger Pro 1 and Poly D played with the arpeggio on on the Keystep Pro

Pad 2 - Roland D50 layered with Roland JX-8P and Korg DW8000

Bell - DX 7 ....of course it is!

ARP Chords - Roland Jupiter 4."

Stranger Things 'Kids' Synth Cover using Prophet-6 and T-16 (based on ARP 2600)

video upload by Nitecaller.

"#StrangerThings has given me so much life and inspiration over the last decade, but maybe more importantly it gave us one of greatest soundtracks ever, composed by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein.

I’ve been learning the parts and playing this theme for years now and it never gets old. Feels good to finally put together a proper cover of it. Using only two synths; the Prophet-6 (which the composers use heavily) and the T-16; my custom-built synth also inspired by the gear of the composers (ARP 2600). [see the Nitecaller label for more]

Prophet-6: Lead parts and SFX
T-16: Bass and outro arpeggio

'No issues. Past owner reported it had work done in the past. Right wood end has damage as shown in photo. Confusing non traditional workflow and will take time for you to understand the device. The Spectralis is a professional synthesizer, groovebox, and sequencer created in 2004 by Radikal Technologies. Contained within is a powerful monophonic hybrid synthesizer (the Asynth) composed of 4 digital oscillators that can pass through two analog filters (a 4-pole 24dB LP filter and a 2-pole 12dB multi-mode filter), a 32 stereo voice polyphonic multisampling sound engine (the Dsynth) that pass through a digital 12dB multi-mode filter, an 8 bandpass fixed filterbank a plethora of LFOs to modulate parameters, two delay effects, and an extremely complex and powerful pattern-based sequencer section to sequence internal sounds and parameters as well as external gear. The Spectralis has 32 available songs, each with 32 patterns available.

"Analog Solutions Red Square synth, No issues at all, everything works as should. Just came back from a full inspection and calibration from professional audio tech.

The red square is a patchable analogue monosynth that can also be used as an effects processor. it has some of the advantages of a modular synth (re-wireable synth circuits, external control, external signal routing) and the advantage of a pre-patched monosynth (easy to use, instant sound, tidy front panel). its 1/4" jacks sockets mean it can easily be integrated into a studio just like any synth or processor."

Ambient Synths over Processed Field Recordings | Appreciation 2026-01-02 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"This piece was created using the ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10 and the ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field. It is an ambient composition where noise-tinged synth performances are layered over processed field recordings captured in Kowloon Park, Hong Kong.

On the Prophet-10, a digital delay is applied using the ‪@strymon‬ TIMELINE, followed by a deep room reverb from the blueSky.

On the OP-1 field, field recordings made in Kowloon Park are imported and shaped with filtering. The sound is then processed through the ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MKII, adding delay while generating micro-loop textures that blend into the background."

1/1/25 Roland TR-606 & RE-301 + Dytronics Cyclosonic Panner + Eventide H3000b

video upload by Cfpp0

"First video of 2026. We sold so much stuff in the past few years and shifted as much stuff around that some of the patch bays were in need of an audit. This video was a test of several different pieces of outboard gear that have been rewired to consolidate the bays, including the very rare Dytronics Cyclosonic Panner. It is a lot like the ADR Pan Scan, but with more options for movement, plus two inputs and four outputs. The Roland TR-606 is clocked by Pamela’s anew Workout at 140, and the TR-606 output is multiplied, with one copy going to the A input on the Cyclosonic Panner and the other copy going to the Roland RE-301 with the dry signal cancelled. The delayed RE-301 signal goes to the B input on the Cyclosonic Panner, with three of its outputs going to the Mackie Onyx 1640. Those signal are all panned differently, and sent to an aux running to the Eventide H3000B for some pitch shifting."

Welson Keyboard Orchestra analog string synth / Like Elka Rhapsody 610 Crumar Multiman

via this Reverb listing

You can find a demo of a previous one here.

"Quite rare italian polyphonic keyboard with 4 sounds: cello, violin, piano and harpsichord.
Very simple design and yet very nice sounding. Check the demo I made.
You can mute evey section with its dedicated switch and you have control over individual volumes, as well as "sustain" for the string presets and "decay" for the keyboard presets.
Inside there is of course a BBD based chorus, using classic TCA350Y chipsets, like many famous string synth: Eminent Solina, Logan/Hohner String Melody, Elka Rhapsody etc
Like on the Elka Rhapsody it's only a double chorus, not a triple one, so string sound is not as lush as on the Solina or Logan. But these strings sounds very nice, better IMO then the Elka.
Check the video I made with a similar unit.
There are also seperate outputs for both sections. I also added a dry output (without the ensemble effect) for the string section so you could use external ensemble effect like the Wersi Wersivoice or any fx.
And furthermore the instrument is quite compact and leightweight (13.5 kilos) for a string synth, which makes a great live performer."

Pics of the inside below.

The Thomas Synti 1055 is a" monophonic analog synthesizer produced in the 1970s by the Thomas Organ Company, which in 1973 acquired the rights to produce the Moog Satellite, one of the first synthesizers made by the historic American company. The original design was extended and improved by Thomas engineers, who managed to create an instrument that was more comfortable and simple to use live, while maintaining the same character and sonic depth as its predecessor. The completely analog heart of this instrument consisted of a single relaxation oscillator, capable of generating a single sawtooth (or square) wave, which was then filtered and processed by various downstream circuits to shape its harmonic content and envelope. It's clear that these techniques couldn't achieve "realistic" sounds in the modern sense of the word, but they still managed to create unique timbres, still very interesting today, which inspired much of the music of the time."

ROLAND TR-1000 [02] // LØSTLVLS

video upload by LØSTLVLS

"Exploring the wonky lo-fi glitch-beat side of the TR-1000, inspired by Kona Triangle's Sing a Sapling into Existence album from 2009.

Back in 2014 I got into Teebs, Flying Lotus, Shlohmo, Shigeto and a bunch more, after being obsessed with Nujabes, Five Deez, Shing02, Fat Jon and a bunch of others. Something about dense, ducking textures with thick kicks and wonky percussion sets my soul alight.

The SP-404 was a 'founding piece' of my musical development - while the MPC 1000 was perfection, the SP was portable and performative in ways that perfectly complemented the MPC - I was lucky enough to see Teebs live performing with his two SP-404s and his set was awesome. If you remember the old Roland forums where Flying Lotus personally shared the 'FlyLo Technique' then you officially rock.

Anyway, enjoy!

Check out my sample packs on Bandcamp - loads of vintage and modern gear (leaning towards drum machines) with kits, sample chains and presets. All ethically-sourced and locally-grown here in the lab in Bristol, UK: https://lostlvls.bandcamp.com/"

OP-XY ambient with mixer & tape

video upload by Robot Ostrich Dreams

"Expanding the OP-XY for live performance.

I love the OP-XY as a standalone tool, but for this ambient jam, I wanted more tactile control. I’m using the Novation Launch Control XL (mk2) to handle mixing and spatial effects.

The Mapping:
Volume on faders.
Filters on the top pots.
Delay and Reverb sends on the remaining knobs.

Watch for the drum processing in the second half. By sending only the drums to the Tape track, I can trigger glitchy breaks and fills without affecting the melodic elements.

Gear:
Teenage Engineering OP-XY
Novation Launch Control XL (mk2)
iPhone 17 Pro"

FREE SYNTH: JE-8086 (Roland JP-8000 Emulator) - No talking demo

video upload by ADL-MusicLab

"Hello, everyone!

Here's to you my 'No talking demo' of the amazing JE-8086, a FREE software emulation of the Roland JP-8000 by 'The Usual Suspects', which brings back to life this iconic synthesizer!

'The Usual Suspects' is a group of people who are currently Reverse Engineering and Emulating the DSP chip from original historic hardware synthesizers, which, in this case, is the Toshiba TC170C140.

As is usual with The Usual Suspects releases, you’ll need to provide the original ROM, legally acquired, of course.

The architecture, signal flow, and character closely follow the original hardware, making this one of the most faithful JP-8000 recreations currently available in software form.

More info here:
https://dsp56300.wordpress.com/je8086/

In this demo I will just let you hear what some amazing sound designers have made for this stunning plugin simply by scrolling and playing some beautiful sounds.
