Waves // Beads as a wavetable synth through the Instruo Lubadh

video upload by Mega Modularis

"For this week’s video I tried using the Mutable Instruments Beads as the only sound source, with nothing plugged in Beads becomes a wavetable synth, which I then modulated and fed into the @instruo Lubadh, before manipulating those recordings and feeding them back into Beads and Monsoon by Big T Music, as well as my trusty @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC Mimeophon delay. This resulted in a pretty interesting ambient patch I think, with some nice use of the time control on the Lubadh, and that lovely reverb-rich granulation of Beads and Monsoon, what do you think? Anyway sit back and enjoy! MM.

Patch Notes:

Voice: Mutable Beads, Instruo Lubadh
Modulation: ALM Pam’s, @DivKid Ochd
Audio FX & Processing: Instruo Lubadh, Mutable Beads & the Big T Music Monsoon"

Cš-L | Episode 01 | The Instruō Ecosystem + Crash Course

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"I am not sure how many episodes this series will have, but one episode is definitely not enough. What an amazing module!

In this episode I'll go through the Cs-L in an instruo case and trying to familiarize myself with it. I know many of these modules on their own, but not as a combo and it feels like having two left hands. I simply did not feel 'qualified' to cover a complex module like the Cs-L but I learned a lot while making this video.

I am not in any way related to Instruō except for being a customer. I've been building this case since 2017 and now it's finally almost finished."

Cèismōgraphy | Using Cèis as a wonky drum machine

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"The Instruō cèis is an analog CV controlled ADSR envelope generator. It's designed with east-coast synthesis in mind, where you press a key on the keyboard, hear the sound rising to its decay stage, drops to - and holds the sustain stage as long as you press the key - and the release stage starts when you let go of the key. This only works when you send in a gate. If you'd send in a trigger, there can't be any sustain. Now the cèis has a gate CV output for every stage. The gate is high as long as a stage is active. It also fires a trigger at the beginning of the stage, giving you NINE cv patchpoints to play with. But I am not an east-coast fan, I go west. So today I wanted to see how far I'd get if I treated it as a four stage function generator, and added a second one for fun (actually a typical east-coast design has an ADSR for the VCA and one for a filter so there's a good reason to have two)."

Vortex | A Complex Oscillator by Cosmotronic

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"In this video I'll dive a bit deeper into the Vortex. At first glance it's just another '259 inspired' machine, but I feel it goes way beyond the standard features of a complex VCO. You really need to read the manual to get the most from it - which is a lot.

This is a spin-off episode for the '259' series, so it will be in the same playlist. The series doesn't go deep into individual modules but is more about design concepts in general. I'll start with Episode 03 next week and I am planning spin-off's for the Cs-L and the DPO."

Cheap Instruo

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"No, cheap isn't the right word. What I mean is, you don't need tons of currency to build yourself a true Instruo rig with more modules than you can carry, including modules you can't buy anymore.

What I mean is, they're free and what you need is a cheap PC or Mac. If you can read this, you probably have one. I always felt a bit lost in VCV, and it often makes me realize how much I've spent on real modules where the only difference is 'no latency' and 'unlimited processing power'. Did I forget 'analog'? No, I did not. VCV does not sound any less. The Pro version is cheap. The free version is a bargain."

Cool Ambient Patch on Blue Marvin 2600 & Eurorack ( Instruō Tágh & Harmonàig; Elements & Ripples)

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
Made a cool experimental patch using the Blue Marvin 2600 and some eurorack modules below it on the TipTop Audio Happy Ending Kit.
The modules I am using are:
- Instruō Tágh (Sample and hold out to Harmonàig)
- Instruō Harmonàig (Quantization and gate output to MI Elements)
- Instruō/Divkid øchd (Modulation to various places)
- Mutable Instruments Elements (Main Stereo Oscillator, first out goes through Ripples and then out; second out goes through 2600's filter and then out)
- Mutable Instruments Ripples for low-pass-filtering one of Element's outputs
- 2hp Mult for splitting stuff

After going out stereo into Universal Audio Volt interface and into Ableton Live, it goes through Other Desert Cities by Audio Damage, a very cool effects processor, as well as some shimmer. I am also using Blue Marvin's built-in spring Reverb to some extent.

New Instruō - càrn four channel signal processing utility eurorack module

video upload by Instruō

"New Module Day!!!
Here's the càrn :)

At its core, the Instruō càrn is a four channel signal processing utility with distinct functionality and individual outputs per channel. It is optimised for both audio and control voltage signals and offers a voltage-controlled panner with constant power panning, a VCA, a ring modulator, and a signal crossfader – all housed within a compact stereo mixer format.

As a mixer, càrn can function as a traditional end-of-chain summing stage with a built-in stereo VCA. It can also seamlessly expand to related stereo Instruō modules via its pair of stereo back jacks and included low profile stereo cable. càrn includes an optional stereo limiter that is perfect for everything between gentle signal softening to saturated drum bus distortion.

Whether you need a feature-dense signal processor, a hyper-compact summing mixer, or a soft-clipping signal mangler, càrn will meet
the challenge.

• AC & DC coupling options for audio and CV mixing • Voltage-controlled constant power panning
• Two-quadrant linear VCA
• Four-quadrant VCA (Ring modulation)
• Final stage stereo VCA
• Signal crossfading
• Individual channel outputs with normalling options • On-board limiting
• Back jack connectivity for expansion

Session Six - Part 3 (Make Noise XPO, 2x Morphagenes, NI Kontakt)

video upload by Rheyne

"Sounds are from a Make Noise XPO, a pair of Morphagenes, an Instruo Ts-L, and piano from Kontakt.

The strumming was played and recorded from Arkhis in Kontakt and loaded into the first Morphagene, with chords chosen by the Y-channel of the René sequencer. The arpeggio is from the XPO through a QPAS, sequenced with the X-channel. The C-channel is controlling the bass from the Instruo Ts-L. The piano is from The Maverick in Kontakt, played into the second Morphagene and processed as a 'broken echo' effect.

Recorded in one take with no overdubs."

Ambient Explorations pt.37 (Instruō Cruïnn)

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching! #modular #eurorack #ambient
In this episode of 'Ambient Explorations', I am using the recently-released Instruo Cruinn, which is a wonderfully sounding stereo through-zero phase modulated oscillator. All the stereo elements that repeat over time, which are sawtooth waves, are coming from this module, in case you wanted to know what it sounds like. It is being supported by its fellow family members: Instruo Arbhar for stereo granular elements; Instruo Lubadh, which is receiving the summing output from Cruinn, and slowing down or speeding up randomly by being modulated by Instruo/Divkid øchd; Instruo CS-L, which is going through Mutable Instruments Clouds to create a nice yet weird background texture (it sounds like people playing violins in the higher register); and Instruo Lion which is taking care of most of the modulation routings within the system.

Doepfer A178 Theremin Voltage Source - feat. J Daniel Cramer

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"On September 3rd, 2022, Dutch Modular Fest hit the former Pieter Baan Center in Utrecht. I got some new gear (more coming soon) but I've been blown away by a performance from J. Daniel Cramer (all the way from Canada). He used four (4!) Doepfer A178's to create a polyphonic Krell on a 'tiny' TipTop Mantis case.
(https://www.youtube.com/c/jdanielcramer). I recorded a few snippets of his performance on video so you can be part of it too - and ordered two A178's the days after. So all credits for this idea go to mr. Cramer, Todd Barton and Dieter Doepfer.

I've been wondering if I could translate this concept to my favorite fields of grain: granular synthesis. I took a leap of faith and ordered a second Arbhar. I patched up the two Harvesters with the A178's, Lubadh, QPAS and Mimeophon. So it's still a relatively low module count (I guess 104 HP would do it) but the level of expression is amazing. I used a vocal snippet from my dear friend Julia M. (former boss of 007) who performs as 'Lucid Yin' all over the EU. (https://www.instagram.com/lucid_yin)."
