Bad Gear - The Original Boutique

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. Roland is inarguably the greatest synth brand in history but even die-hard fans like me have a hard time dealing with the miniscule displays, buzz-killing menu diving and product philosophies that seem like they were conceived after a 72h non-stop bender.

Today we are going to talk about the MC-202. This 80s analog synth and sequencer not only might as well be the secret lovechild of an SH101 and TB303, it also appears to be the root of all the aforementioned evil.

Thanks to Philipp of Feedback Underground Studios for giving me access to his beautiful artifact. Serious requests are welcome to: fbugs@gmx.at

🐋 Roland JX-10 (Super JX) 🐋 🎧 (no talking) 🎧

video upload by Cutoff Frequency - gear stuff (no talking)

"This is a video demonstrating the sounds of the Roland JX-10 also known as the Super JX.

When I first heard this synthesizer I was blown away by the warmth of the sound. And to be honest, it still does. Once in a while I turn it on and indulge myself in its analog richness. I gives me strong associations with the Twin Peaks series, which I am a big fan of. It has a lot of cinematic qualities not present in other synths and it can even do some other nice stuff too. Released in 1985, this was the last analog synth from Roland until they recently released their JD series.

Thanks my love for playing so beautifully."

10CC I`m Not In Love ~ Vintage Synthesizer Recreation ~ RetroSound

video upload by RetroSound

One of my favorite tracks from the 70s.
I`m Not In Love by 10CC from the album The Original Soundtrack (1975)
Written by the band members Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman

Featured the Yamaha Reface CP with phase shifter, Roland M-VS-1, Logan Vocalist for human choir sounds, E-MU Emax SE additional choir sounds and Moog Minimoog for the bass and bassdrum

This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.

My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers."

Roland JX-1 Performance Synth - realtime tweaking on a 90s Rompler. The best of „both worlds“

video upload by Ted murena

"The the Roland JX one is a 90s romper built as part of the JX series. This synthesiser gives the user a lot to control in their play mode but it is not a workstation and does not have a lot of ability to truly create brand new sounds effectively you are able to tweak the presets to come up with some pretty good useful sounds this has been used by many, techno and trance artist over the 90s as a nice entry synth and also a real usable playable instrument for those that may be more likely to be focused on DJ activities while making music."

"This unit had been in use by our customer until we bought it. It had been serviced by another tech in the recent past, but we still had to pay our tech for the 15 hours of highly skilled labor required to get it up to our standards (including fixing a problem the previous tech didn't fix right), and now it's ready for its next happy home. As you can see from the pics, it appears as though someone replaced the original wooden sides with new ones.

Someone previously replaced a bunch of the original screws with some strange ones, so we had to waste an hour disassembling things and putting in new screws of the right type. Techs, please don't do this! Don't misplace the originals / order the right screws when you do so you don't make more work for the next tech who's got higher standards."

Synthspa loaded their 'soup-up' J106 Sounds on their board. We can load the original factory sounds if you prefer

"This is the legendary masterpiece TR-808 (Yaoya), of which only 12,000 were manufactured from 1980 to 1982.

The previous owner purchased it for home work, but it was used less and less from around 1985, so it was stored at home."

"Incredible synth in MINT condition!

This is a museum quality MC202 with original box.

Only selling this because I have two of these plus an SH101.

MC202 is the most buttery and beautiful sounding monosynth out there. Alessandro Cortini has created an entire album with just this machine."

Retroaktiv MPG7 Review & Demo // Why you'll want an MSK-7

video upload by Starsky Carr

"Retroaktiv have done it again, this time with a SuperQuartet/MPG-7 programmer that can also be used with your 106, or as a MIDI controller for whatever really... MIDI CC assigning means you can use it with pretty much anything.

It comes with all the usuals Retroaktiv extras, like patch saving (10 banks in here) plus setup saving... which saves patches independently of the stored patches.. so all-in-all you can save thousands!

Its got the amazing patch generator.. you can set it to generate pads, basses, pianos, strings, FX etc and control what parameters are used.

There's also assign slots to control up to 3 parameters at a time with either MIDI CC or aftertouch.

This massively opens up the MPG-7 - if you've got one you'll want one of these."
