Stereoping MidiTools

video upload by Three CCTranslators automating Microwave, Matrix and TX81Z from DAW Stereoping

"Technical productdemo for the #CCTranslator which converts common Midi Control Change (aka 'CC') data into highly specialized #SysEx parameter change commands. This allows to remote or automate vintage Synthesizers like e.g. the #Waldorf #Microwave, #Matrix1000, #TX-81Z in your DAW. In the video these three Synths are automated - each with 4 parameters - from a dashboard in FL Studio. The Matrix1000 is running the tauntek firmware which reflects parameter changes on the LED display. Some little timing issues but mostly it works quite well. Most of the automation data was optimized by drawing steps and preventing redundant data. Depending on your DAW, automation curves can produce a LOT of data which might result in timing problems or missed events."

via stereoping

"The MIDI TOOLS are tiny, cute boxes manipulating Midi Data. They will be plugged in between the sender (MIDI OUT of DAW or Keyboard) and the receiver (MIDI IN of Synthesizer) and will be supplied with power from the connected Midi cable – there is no power supply jack. This is quite practical and works with the vast majority of equipment.

The Midi Tools are coming in 3 flavours:

The PolyChainer will be plugged in between the Synth Programmer and allows playing two Matrix 1000/6/6R (or other Synths) with 12 note polyphony

The CCTranslator translates ordinary Control Change (“CC”) messages into the complex SysEx commands to control and remote your vintage Synthesizer

The ChordTransposeFilter offers 4 features at the same time: Chord Memory, transposition of incoming midi notes, filtering of undesired Midi data and a simple MIDI Thru

The MidiTools are housed in a beautiful stainless steel case, the upper half painted in transparent strawberry red, yum. Like all Stereoping products their firmware can easly be updated over Midi. Please click the tabs for more info about the little helpers."

2021/08 DAWless Summer Session - Dance [w/ Custom 808 Clone in KORG PS Style Case]

video upload by Stereoping

"Another short session with the TriggerMidiRocket running the #Novation #Summit and the #DB9 Deep Bass Nine. #MPC1000 midiclock is sent to the 808-clone and a eurorack midi-cv-clock interface. The clock of this interface is syncing the ER-88 eurorack triggersequencer which finally is triggering the Rocket. Gatelength and Velo changes on the Rocket control Glide & Accent of the DB9 ... surprising everything works so flawless. #OSCar and #ARP2600 are simply midi controlled by the MPC."

Four Waldorf Pulses w/ Polivoks Filter Mod & Stereoping Controller Racked

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This listing is for 4 Waldorf Pulse, 1 Stereoping Programmer, and 3 new Virtual Music Polivoks Filter kits. Everything works great. All 4 Waldorf Pulse have been upgraded with new final OS 2.01 EPROMs. The 3 Polivoks filter kits have not been installed. These filter kits are made with Russian NOS parts, they will only be in production until parts last. You can polychain these Pulse to make a massive 4 voice polyphonic synthesizer. The Stereoping Programmer can be used to control many other makes of synthesizers not just the Pulse. Stereoping also sells different face plates for the Programmer to match the gear you are controlling.

This link is a interview with the creator. He gives you information about the new updates his filter gives the Pulse. At the very bottom of that link are great sound examples of the Polivoks Pulse in action."

2021/05 - Userwave & Wavetable editing on Synth Programmer for Microwave

video by Stereoping

"The firmware update 1.62 for the #Stereoping Programmer's Microwave edition introduces #Wavetable editing & randomizing plus #Userwave randomizing and drawing. And there is a new PREFS setting optionally preventing the STARTWAVE knobs to run into the tri/sqr/saw waveforms to the end of each wavetable. The video shows all of these features in action."

STEREOPING Synth Controller for Ensoniq Mirage

2021/03 video by Stereoping

"1985 #Ensoniq released the #8-bit #Sampler 'Mirage'. Great features and sound but a nightmare to edit. In 2021 - just 36 years later - Stereoping offers a little #Midicontroller making things a little easier. For technical reasons, the Controller only works with #MASos - the "Mirage Advanced Sampling OS". It can not tune in absolute values as we are used to today. The Controller simulates button-presses on the frontpanel. When moving a knob it sends commands to the #Mirage like "press PARAM, press 3, press 6, press VALUE" to select Cutoff and show it's value on display. Moving the knob outside the 12 o'clock deadzone starts to send consecutive presses of INCREASE or DECREASE in 3 different speed grades to adjust the value itself. Sounds complicated but it works quite well.
This demo shows how to build a complete program with 11 samples and their upper and lower memory assignments in 5 minutes! Without Controller it would most probably take much longer (i must admit, i did not try it). The video uses a speedup to prevent sending spectators to sleep, hopefully. The background shows a real-world clock to proove it's not fake-demo.
From 3:27 the defined memory areas are filled with samples... choosing wavesample slot, adjusting external volume, starting sampling, adjusting sampling time for long samples etc.
From 6:57 the complete Program is used for a little Drum and Bass mockup - even with realtime adjusting of "AMP Release time" - kind of stutter effect :-)

Unless you own or know the Ensoniq Mirage, this video will be quite boring. Maybe you enjoy the background music, Tabla and Sitar are played by the Mirage."

Six Waldorf Pulse cascaded to build a Poly-Synth

video by Stereoping

"Three demos for using six #Waldorf #Pulse in a cascade. The Pulse allows polychaining up to 12 units in total. I only can demo six Pulses here :-(
Selecting programs or making edits on the 1st Pulse in the cascase immediately updates all connected units. This works perfect as well in conjunction with the #SynthProgrammer.
Demo 1 is sonically bothersome, you might want to lower the volume as it demonstrates monophonic unison spread. Starting with all units in tune, they are individually detuned by Mastertune. Then pitch is modulated by LFO - in fact it's 6 individually running LFOs! Then DCO2's pulsewidth is modulated by second LFO (6 more LFOs). Finally both DCOs are detuned against each other and DCO 3 adds even more bottom. It ends in an interesting 6 voice/6 LFO sawtooth siren.
Demo 2 ( 2:02 ) is nicer, it sets the cascade in polymode resulting in a 6 voice polyphonic synth. Between 3:10 and 3:20 you might want to close your eyes because i had to turn my head multiple times to left and right - with attached cam.

Demo 3 ( 4:38 ) finally plays a relaxing arpeggio while the Pulses are altered individually in panning, cutoff and level making the arpggio more lifely.
Additonal gear used: #Cthulhu VST plugin for arpeggiation, TR-0815 DIY-Drumbox synched over midi clock and #Vermona DRM Drumbox triggered over midi. The Pulses are mixed with a #Roland #M-12E."

2020/11 - Demosong Rack69

Stereoping

"A reallife studiotest for a prototype i've recently finished, projectname Rack69. The followup video to the breadboarded version from 12/2018 [posted here]

Based on Roland's #TR-606 (plus 808 BD & CB and DR-110 claps) schemes with many mods. 5 ringing noise flavours (#Atmel) for HH & CY, one with a falling pitch envelope retriggered by the CY, demoed around 2:26. The thing is still not fully convincing, the Toms are to clicky and untamed, HH + CY are pushing each other away when played together ...

The tweaking shows much of the bandwidth, some features could not be shown though (e.g. ACC impact or triggerlevel lift in ACC section).

Other instruments used: #TX81Z, #Novation #Summit, #Matrix6 and #OSCar."

Three microtuned classical pieces on a Yamaha TX802

Stereoping

"Little composition excercise while playing with a Yamaha TX802's microtuning. Three parts, all built up of just minimalistic 2 note intervals. Most people used to pop music might find this temperment to sound strange or 'wrong'. I also tested the pieces with equal temperment (not shown in the video) - but it was instantly loosing the medieval charme and tension.

Technics: Two 802-tones (detuning +/- 2) on the same midichannel playing preset 'PickGuitar'. One to output I, the other to II, then through a Roland DEP-5. The TX-802 is noisy as an airplane, the final soundfile had to be denoised with FL-Studio Edison's footprint-denoiser. #Yamaha #TX802 #microtuning #synthesizer"

2020/09 - Synth Programmer for Waldorf Microwave Demo

Stereoping

"Finally - the demo for the Stereoping Microwave Programmer - over 12 minutes full of short clips and subtitles - hopefully useful somehow. Up to 3:50 the sound only contains a non-related background music, the shown content did not have any valuable sound.

0:06 PREFS - Entering the Programmers PREFS mode, making changes to internal settings, automatic saving on exit
0:29 PATCH MODE - Entering PATCH mode, synchronisation of parameter data, stepping up/down through programs. Moving pots, display shows new and old value (in brackets), COMPARE and PEEK function
1:32 PARAMETER GROUPS - layout of Programmer's parameters in groups. Editing hidden parameters. WAVETABLE always available on encoder 4, solution for accessing the many WAVE ENV LEVELS/TIMES values with only 6 pots.
2:47 MODULATION MODE - how to edit the Microwave's modulation slots (normal and complex ones). Two dedicated pots for quickly setting VALUEs or ZEROing them out. Demoing the TEMP mode for direct change of modulation values through pots.
3:50 - EDITING SESSION, from here on the shown clips have sound. Starting with an INIT sound, the program is shaped into something nicer over 2 and 1/2 minute.
6:38 - RANDOMIZER - creating several sounds while changing the randomizers parameters. (Mind the volume, some aggressive sounds here)
8:12 - CHORD MEMO - playing with the 5 CHORD slots. Entering Chord SETUP to demo chord learning and STRUM.
9:30 - playing a pattern from a DAW, shaping a bass sound by Control Change messges making use of the Programmer's CC-to-SysEx translator

10:26 - MULTI MODE - finally a brief demo for the Programmer's MULTI mode. Please check the Programmer's PDF manual for details here.

New Stereoping PolyChainer MIDI Polyphony Tool

Stereoping 2020/07 PolyChainer product demo by Stereoping

"The PolyChainer is a little Midi tool enabling 12 note polyphony with two Matrix 1000 or 6/6R while being edited from a Stereoping Synth Programmer. The M1000 manual calls this GROUP mode, every second incoming note is passed to another Matrix connected to the first one's MIDI OUT. Unfortunately the 1st matrix destroys parameter change SysEx on the way, making the 2nd one not editable anymore. Apart from the fact the Matrix 6/6R does not offer a group mode at all.

Now the PolyChainer overcomes these problems, it builds up it's own GROUP mode not using the M1000's built in. This allows editing of both connected Matrix (even M6), switching between LAYER mode for stacking programs or CHAIN mode for double polyphony. A 2nd switch determines to which MIDI OUT the parameter edits are going to be sent - while leaving the note's paths untouched. Sounds complicated, right? This video demoes several situations like editing from the Programmer with 1 and 2 Matrix, without and (of course) with PolyChainer in LAYER and CHAIN mode, editing one or the other Matrix or both. If you have no clue what this is all about this is perfctly ok. It simply means you do NOT need this product. I hope you like the video nevertheless, at least you'll hear some nice Matrix sounds including the "Stereo/detuning trick". The two Matrix are hard paned to left and right - largest happiness level is reached by using headphones.

00:12 - Programmer & 1 Matrix without PolyChainer
00:30 - Programmer & 2 Matrix without PolyChainer
01:34 - PolyChainer presented on a rotating leather chair

01:52 - Programmer & 2 Matrix + PolyChainer, LAYER mode

05:58 - Programmer & 2 Matrix + PolyChainer, LAYER mode on 2 different sounds"

RDS-80 DIY analogue drumbox demosong - Jazz-style

Published on Mar 7, 2020 Stereoping

"Another Test-/Demosong for a #DIY #drumbox project. Bringing together a drumvoices-PCB labeled RSD-80 of a #Yamaha #D-85 and a wooden case i had left over from an unsuccessful earlier project. The RDS-80 (i know, swapped letters, to late) wants 12V DC and Midi notes on channel 8. No controls, just nice status LEDs for the -12V and +5V power lines. I've put 3 LEDs of different color beneath the metalgrid which start to flicker with the triggered sounds, shown to the beginning. After 1:30 the picture show ends, followed by the #FL-Studio arrangement grid progress. Music this time: electronic #JAZZ. Further gear: Akai MPC-1000 for some helping drums (starting 2:58) and the Roland #Integra-7 for Ride, Guitar, E-Piano, solo Trumpet and Acoustic bass."
